The results for third round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup, sponsored by Paddy Power, are in and can be viewed right here. The competition has now reached the final 64, but our contenders are still only a third of the way to the title, for a brief round-up of who has reached the second third of the tournament, read on…

Getting there in style is this week’s top-scorer Ann_der_roo, who thrashed BirdyRob 76 – 52, and in doing so he earned a cool £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power.

The highest-scoring tie of the round was the 74 – 56 win for hunting4beaver (who was Ann_der_roo’s closest challenger for the weekly prize) over jr.

Another high scorer this week was our very own Granville, who’s impressive run of form sees him storm into the fourth round with a thoroughly convincing 73 – 45 victory over dinglea.

On the flip side to all that bigs scoring was Landsman‘s 40 – 39 win against mogould, which was the lowest points total good enough to progress, the lowest scoring tie of the round and the joint-narrowest points victory.

Also scraping through to the fourth round by a single point was Chris81 (49 – 48 Discogod), mellicott_uk (51 – 50 JoseRealM) and andy85wsm (53 – 52 Milhouse).

Unable to determine a points victor were Jimmers and DaFoe22, who both scored 52. It was DaFoe22’s vastly superior overall ranking which saw him safely through.

The biggest beating of the round was Mighty‘s 73 – 44 annihilation of JohnSteed01. Karma perhaps for eliminating yours truly, and for denying me this weeks top score? Yes, yes it was.

Our last-remaining former champ donnellyc is still in the mix and looking to add to his silverware, after he saw off kings of kafiristan 52 – 34.

Congratulations to our winners, and commiserations to our losers this week. The fourth round fixtures will be made and published in the next couple of days.

I was going to sell Hart this week to free up funds. Now I am following Rule 1 for this GW (mentioned prev) NOT to sell anyone who is playing!!
So who to play Carson or Hart.... They play each other so a tricky one.

did you buy nani for 8.4mil?
do you not own van der vaart?
if so read on (always wanted to do one of these 😀 )

how about holding onto nani this week as if bought at 8.4 a drop to 8.8 wont amke a difference. then in midweek if van der vaart is named in the starting line-up (the tottenham team sheet will be out before the deadline) get him for nani. keep vdv for 2 games then switch back to nani. that way instead of nani: mcy, avl, WIG, BLA, blp and vdv: SUN. BLA, ars, LIV, bir, you could have SUN, BLA, WIG, BLA, blp.
both players are dominant at home (so far), and instead of wondering whether nani will or wont be fit for mcy and avl you'd have van der vaart for 2 nice home games. if money is a worry then all you'd need to break even is nani to drop to 8.7mil and vdv to rise to 8.3mil. both very feasible if nani is out for another game and vdv shakes off his hamstring problem and does half decent in the gw12 and 13 home games.

but yes there is still the issue of 3 games in a week, or 2 games in 4 days if he misses the bolton game.
but yeah you'd have until the gw12 deadline to decide on anything so plenty of time to find out more about nani's and vdv's injuries

Don't have VdV. But got Nani for 8.2.

I'm keeping Nani but I can't decide on my midfield for gw 12 and 13. I would have Fabregas and Nani and also 2 of the following:

Malouda (who I got at 9.8)
Arteta (Excellent medium/long term, but also decent for 12 and 13)
Van der Vaart (Excellent 12 and 13)

      Leaning towards Arteta and VdV.

Can anyone see any wholesale improvements that need to be made to present team (0.2m left in the bank)? Quite happy at present but waiting for the January Wildcard.

Almunia / Carson (rotating as per injuries/fixtures)
Terry, R Ferdidnand, M Richards (Coleman, Perch)
    Malouda, Arteta, Walcott, Bale, Albrighton.
    Drogba, Berbatov, Ameobi.

I know Almunia is a liablilty but I like to put out an all "top 4" Defence.

    Cheers!

Fabianski is number one for the foreseeable and a darnsight cheaper. Perch will do well to get another kick before Christmas with Simpson, Campbell and Taylor all back/on the verge of being back. Add to that Walcott, Albrighton and Ameobi all massive rotation risks and the likelihood that Kolarov/Boateng fitness is likely to mean Richards is benched and you may need a few tweaks...

i've seen this coming over the last couple of games. it's tough to take him out of my team as i've had him in since the 3rd week when he was 8.5, now he's 9.4... he is class but i can't stand watching him jog along when united burst forward. hernandez is tempting.

@ Applebonkers (cant reply direct here at work)

I too like; but i doubt that VDV will be mended in a week, espec given that he 're-did' his hammy. Chances are hes made a right mess of it now 🙁 I'd love to get him in if a few 100k gets shaved off his price...

apparently the problem is tightness not a tear. the only other issue is it will use up 2 transfers, so depending on other plans a possible 8 points. a vdv goal and 3bps and you're away 😉

Anyone mind looking at my team and suggesting another possible transfer this week?

I've already done Tevez > Hernandez and with Nani injured and Gohouri not starting it leaves me with the choice of Barton or Shawcross with a big 3.5 in the bank (was going to save to get tevez back in)

My priorities at the moment are getting Fabianski in and Salcido (without taking hits of course) Would appreciate any input.

    afternoon all.

not bothered abotu nani as everyone who matters has him at this point.

However, is it generally accepted at this point that VDV is definitely OUT this weekend? It's nto a major problem, as i was already having selection problems- i wanted t play all my defenders bar maybe coleman- Elmo Samba Cole Carr and Coleman.

Wanting to have a double transfer for midweek next week s im happy to do this. So anyway, yeah, yis all reckon vdv is out yeah?

On the Cahill vs Arteta topic, looking at the OPTA stats, Im pretty much sold on Arteta. I think Cahill has a higher chance of scoring (Probably from a corner), but based on passing stats, Arteta will have higher chances of multiple assists + BPs over the next few games

    @ RBJ

Def out man; theres no way he comes off with a hammy tear/tightness on Wed and be gd to go by the w/e. As i said above, i'd be shocked if he makes the midweek game, and even the following w/e. So thats 3 GWs!!!!

Gd point re Nani; was gutted last night when i saw the news, but it might help now re creating some much needed difference between the top teams in my mini leagues!!! I have Yaya to come in; not the worst. Am keen to not make any transfers and have 2 for the short GW.

Van Der Vaart came off with a "hamstring injury" on Saturday and then played on Tuesday. Why is he definitely out this weekend (and another 7 days longer) then?

Everyone's views are just pure hocum and wild speculation at this point. Wait until what Redknapp actually says on Friday.

I'm not saying he is fine, on the contrary, but the point being... no-one knows anything so there's no point even pretending to think about it now, as there's bob all substance to any argument.

Was he really fantasy gold? He had great weeks so everyone would bring him in to watch him fail?

I think he was, he did well for me for quite a long spell and I didn't do too badly.

    Curret Lineup:

    Foster (Krul)
    Elmo, Salcido, Coleman, Faye (Jara)
Malouda, Fabs, Adam, (Nani, VDV if injured)
    Drogba, Bent, Elmander.

May struggle to put a XI together if Coleman, Fabs not playing – any suggested changes? Was hoping to do Bent,Faye -> Odemwingie & A Cole next wk.

    Cheers
