Nani has indicated that he could yet figure in Saturday’s Old Trafford encounter with Wolves.

Talking to United’s official site, the winger has revealed that his injury is a minor setback and he could well be in the frame for inclusion against Mick McCarthy’s side….

“It was a bit of a pain in the groin, I’m hoping to be fit for Saturday (against Wolves) but we’ll see how it is over the next day or so. I am doing well at the moment and I enjoy the pressure of being an important member of the team.”

This comes after Alex Ferguson had confirmed that Nani, along with ankle injury victim Darren Fletcher, would miss out after sustaining setbacks in the 3-0 Champions League win over Bursaspor on Tuesday.

“Unfortunately, Nani has a groin injury and is out for Saturday.”

With Florent Malouda set to miss trip to Anfield and doubts still surrounding the involvement of Cesc Fabregas for Arsenal against Newcastle, many Fantasy Managers will be at a loss for their next move. It would appear however, that Nani is well and truly in the frame for a start at City next Wednesday. Ferguson would seem unlikely to risk the winger against Wolves with the local derby game in mind, but for many, the promise of Nani returning to action and missing just one game will be enough to see them hold firm rather than take a loss on a player who is surely set to challenge for the leading points scorer in the Fantasy Premier League this season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

No brainers there. Arteta - bonus point whore and due a goal, and Cahill's not on one of his fine streaks at the moment.
VdV if he plays, but if he's a doubt then Bale. Bale output is muted to say the least when VdV plays, but when he doesn't (early in the league season, Inter away, second half on Tues), Bale is rampant.

Even if he is ok, I see Fergie resting nani for City. No point in risking him.

Agreed but for me, Nani back against City convinces me to hold firm. I'd take a 0.4 loss otherwise. I gonna have to risk a low scoring weekend by the looks of things.

+1 Ferguson will not risk Nani, there is no need to do so, we need him to try his "play dead behind the keeper and tap the ball into the net trick" with Joe Hart

Nope, whats the use of having him on the bench? Where he has a niggle, playing 10 minutes represents the same risk as playing 90 where he is not 100%, he either plays or is not involved at all for me, I know Goose has my back on this one!

Actually could this be the greatest gameweek ever for our mini leagues?
Nani red flagged - most rivals transfer him out, he then plays a blinder
Malouda/VdV etc unflagged - most rivals aren't aware of injuries, they only appear for 10 min cameos at the end to get 1 point.

Being an uber FPL nerd could have its uses this week.

i'm strongly considering stepping off the FFS bandwagon that left me with below average points last week after convincing me to take an 8 point hit getting rid of Tevez and bringing in Fabs. At the least I'm going to try and make up my own downfall than fall down with everyone else!! Fantasy Football sucks! Anyone else agree?

Blackburn have the most awful schedule though, this weekend aside, two away games then Villa and United, although Villa no longer sounds that scary actually.

Perch OUT Simpson IN this week and save your transfer for double transfer in midweek game, you will not make points on Simpson this week most likely but it is a good long term switch and you are making nothing on Perch this week anyway, that way you can play 4-3-3 assuming Fab/N'Zog/Adam are okay

Am I right in saying Alex looks nailed on to be a regular starter at centre back now and the Ivanovic/Bosingwa battle for right back won't affect him?

I want a regular Chelsea defender starter but not Cole or Terry. Had Alex but sold him for Bos thinking he would slot into right back but clearly that seems unlikely.

    Any help appreciated......

Terry and Cole should be every game, barring injuries/suspension, but I think Alex is pretty much nailed on too.

If you don't want Terry or Cole then it simply has to be Alex. He's a class act, one of the best defenders in the league, and should play the majority of games.

So with Nani news, that a stick. I dont want to get VdV but I do want to get Jara out for obvious reasons.

The thing is that I only have 4.5m for a defender and no one appeals in that range.

So I am now thinking that its best to just leave any tranfers this week and have 2 next week and take the risk with my side as is.

This will alow me to buy a defender I actually want, without any hits. Granted it means Simpson at Arsenal this week but i imaigne there will be penty of points hits around this week so as long as I dont take a hit then this should cancel out the possibility of a drubbing at the Emirates.

Agree or disagree with this strategy given the side I have???

I am sticking with current team despite having Jara suspended and Nani most likely OUT. This is good news re Nani in any event, it means its not a 10 day injury and he should play in the Derby, good in Fantasy, good in real life this one!

I have VDV and Elmo, wasn't Bosingwa ill or something for the game last night, like a virus? I would stick and hope he plays, Ivan might need a rest despite his 2 goal salvo.

VDV we also have to wait and see.

I am still of the view that Elmo will play, and until Bruce hints otherwise am not worrying about him, he doesn't go from being "hot property" a few weeks ago to droppable at Sunderland, Bruce knows he might have a struggle on his hands to keep him in January, for me, he plays.

Simpson v Arsenal isn't the worst idea. I see an Arsenal win but Newcastle scoring. Carroll and Williamson are my bets for a Newcastle goal as they will both give Arsenal problems at deadballs. Even if I had 5 fit defensers (Gohouri, Alex, Mummy, Jara, Williamson), Williamson would start v Arsenal.

    Toure / Coleman / Elmo / (Jara) / (Konchesky)
    Arteta (C) / Barton / Adam / Narsi / (Malouda)
    Berba / Drogba / Chamakh

    Does my team anymore changes?

Ive already made one change. Any more would take me into hit territory!

right, 2 teams i need your opinion on please, mine and my mrs’.

    Mine

    Foster
    Alex, Dann, Elmo, Coleman
    Fabs (c), Brunt, Bale
    Drogba, Carroll, Bervatov

    benched Malouda, Nani, Tamas

no transfers left and only 0.3 in the bank. Cant afford to sell and buy back Malouda or Nani

    My Mrs

    Foster
    Coleman, Cashley, Elmo, Evatt
    Adam, VDV, Brunt
    Chamakh (c), Drogba, Carroll

    benched Malouda, Nani, Baptiste
No free transfers left and 3.5 in the bank

I’m thinking my mrs’ team is the one that is gonna need to take a 4 pointer with Evatt coming into play and no one else on the bench to play if VDV doesnt play.

    But who to who?

If Nani is fit then he has to play, they got too many key players out and he's their only real creative outlet.

The seriousness of his injury was based around hearsay anyway, you can never really trust what Fergie says, he proved that with Rooney last season.

United don't have the luxury of resting key players at the moment, Chelsea are on top with a little lead with the top 5 being very tight.

I agree that if he is fit he has to play, but in circumstances where there is even a slight doubt over him, he will not be risked.

The squad will have taken great confidence having gone away and gotten a result midweek, so even in Nani's likely absence, I still fancy United to sneak a 1-0/2-0 win in this one. Gibson and Scholes playing in the middle and Park/Obertan flying about the place with Hernandez and Berbatov up front, not the worst side to face Wolves at home.

It's pretty weak to be fair.

Players feel tweaks all the time which turn out to be a itch, I'm sure he won't be risked unless he is fit to play.

Cahil, Arteta has b'pool, BOL, ARS.

For me its a no brainer or? I can get back Nani for GW 14. I could probably lose 0.2 but I could also earn them on the new player.

Are most people of the opinion that FISO's Crack the Code is no longer as reliable as TotalFPL's player value tool? Was looking to do the classic Nani to Cahill move but wanted to hold off as long as possible, but have since seen TFPL have him at 101.1% to rise tonight. FISO have him at 76%. Would love that extra day or two to weigh up my options but dont want to miss a price hike.

You need to maximise the TotalFPL window. They have his 'maximum' rise level as 101% but his 'minimum' chance is 76%, the same as FISO.

I believe the minimum and maximum depend on whether they have the protection issue correct, which isn't an exact science (and if you ask me they don't use the exact same rule for every player throughout the year).

So with Malouda, jara, nani, VDV(whats the story with him? fit for weekend?) all either out or probally out for the weekend and then with the likes of Barton and Carroll who i wouldn't be that confident on playing, i reckon its going to be another poor week!

Thinking maybe Barton > Nzogbia, bench Jara, Malouda and then let Carroll come on for one of VDV or Nani and hope the other one plays. Only have one free transfer.

Hi rock, I'm in a similar boat with malouda, jara, nani and fab instead of vdv. I'd be more inclined to sell nani and take a gamble on mal being fit for fulham which sounds likely. Both will likely miss this week but next 2 weeks would you rather Nani (mcy, vil) or Malouda (FUL, SUN) It's then easy to do malouda to nani in gw14 for utd's nice run.

Hi Rock. I'm in the same boat with the Malouda/Nani issue. Doubt Nani would be risked vs Wolves even if "fit". Malouda vs Ful/Sun surely better than Nani's ManC/Villa?

If I just knew Malouda would be fit for Fulham i would do Nani-->Arteta. Will then get Nani back in for Malouda in gw14.

Only thing holding me back is i won't have any ManU coverage.

Yeah we are in the same boat, having no Utd cover would worry me a bit and i was going to keep malouda for them 2 games to see if he could start delivering again but with him out this week it could be the right time to get rid.

nani almost certainly won't play, i agree but even against the likes of City and Villa, he could still do something? he is their main man.

Bringing Nani back after 2 weeks doesn't seem like a bad idea though, but the only thing is that you would probally lose some money on bringing him back in?

Wow, I swear I didn't see your post Inalize. Not only are we thinking the same thing but we are using the same wording 8-0

Hehe, It's a tough decision. I'm going to be so p-offed if I sell Nani and Malouda is not fit for Ful or gets rested for Sun!

Other thing is it's a lot if money to be tied up in a Chelsea player that i will really never Capt as long as I have Drogba.

So maybe Malouda should be the one to go for Arteta and then the extra cash can be spent on Ferguson-->? in gw12

Leader in my Mini league does not have Nani and is a Chelsea fan so he won't sell malouda. Time for me to get the differentials in!

I agree with the Malouda point and until it was confirmed that Tevez was out, Malouda was being transferred out for Fabs.

But the leader in my main league has both Nani, Malouda and a lead of 15 points so do I ship one out and go the differential route or stay put as could potentially lose more ground....

Have the same dilemma and will probably do Nani -> Arteta this week. Chelsea could spank Ful/Sun at home and if playing Malouda could be well amongst it.

Barton plays rock, so take your 2 points.

I think you have bigger fish to fry, wait on news for VDV, Nani may only be out for one game now so definitely bench him, Malouda I am not sold on, I got rid last week and it has worked quite nicely, with Drogba and Cole I would be most tempted to ship Malouda if I were you if anyone.

I would do Malouda OUT Arteta IN and weather the storm.

Fergie says he is injured, he says I am not. Then he misses game, than the home fans are bowing, then City offer 50m, Scholes does the math and finally Fergie is smiling with a new contract. Sounds familiar? 🙂

Anyone else waiting with baited breath for the return of Van Persie? Last seasons quartet of RvP, Fabs, Drogba and Lampard essentially made every game week fail proof.

very costly though, would you really use 46M+ of your budget to bring in 4 players, and you would probally NEED Nani in there too which would bring it to 54.5+ on 5 players. not possible IMO.
