It’s a flip-flop and we’re not talking about our fantasy island risk footwear. Courtesy of a dream wildcard, in 3 weeks I’ve turned a significant deficit around to a 20 point lead.

Mark is miffed, he feels trapped. Malouda, his comfort blanket now resembles a strait jacket, tightening its grip on his budget as he wrestles with the consequence of finally selling him.

Listen to us as we go tête-à-tête on the subjects of buying versus selling price, profit versus points and success versus failure, or better described as Granville versus Mark 😉

NB. Addendum – The Malouda injury hadn’t been revealed to Mark at the time of this recording. Ouch

Guys, I must have done something terrible in my previous life to have such a doubtful squad for this GW that includes Nani, Malouda, Fabregas, VDV, Bosingwa, Odemwingie and JARA.

It's Wild Card time, isn't it??

I am in a similar spot with VDV Malouda and Fabregas. My subs won't do it if they have to come in. I am hoping Fabregas plays or I am in big trouble. I don't have wc, but would be tempted if I did. But the fixtures aren't clean enough for me but for Man U and Arsenal, so I would probably wait.

How much value do you have stored in the likes of Malouda? These guys will be back after a game or two, and will probably start scoring big again. So don't want to overreact.

My season is back on track. Top of the table ahead of Arsenal, Everton, Chelsea in that order. Beat Real Madrid in the return fixture to top my champs league group too!

Game 20 vs Arsenal. no doubt another Hernandez brace can seal the victory.

    great scoutcast

starting to wonder if myself and mark have the same team as he was talking about his strikers, mids and sub bench and i pretty much have the same one!

wondering what to do this week, every move i look to make has an issue with it.
e.g. looking at chicharito for carroll possibly! but no point in selling carroll with blackpool at home on the horizon.

im looking at gameweek 13 to bring back in tevez, but until then maybe konchesky to evra?

Hoping Tevez plays this weekend...Mancini is optimistic

    Foster
    Konchesky Hughes Elmohamady* Shawcross
    Fabregas* (c) Nani* Adam
    Drogba Tevez* Carroll
    Subs: Krul Barton Malouda* Jara*
    *doubtful/ruled out

Holding tight at the moment, but if Nani is ruled out tomorrow may switch for Arteta.

    Any thoughts?

        Yes or that!
I just think many teams will have variation this week
And the sheep are going to take hits and get all the big guns out...so the players who (somewhat) know what they're doing can get back ahead.

Personally I think fortune will favour the brave this gameweek. Anyone lucky enough to have Nolan or Dempsey last week made great strides in the league. The same notion for the lucky punt will likely favour the pro active manager this week.

Those that don't take action deserve all the consequences that may result from such dithering.

Sure, but you don't want to trade out all the players who will be great when they return a week later.

Weeks like this is why you need a decent subs bench.

Risk walcott! he might start at the weekend, and even if he doesn't, he is still so dangerous coming off the bench right now.

With the teams arsenal will be playing, he could do great damage in 20mins, he's in super form!

Depends how long he's out for. I was actually hoping he'd be ruled out for a while. Would mean I could make a move to Arteta without having to look back. At this rate though, it seems like he's fine, and if he doesn't play this week, he'll play the next week, which means he stays.

Yep, had the Arteta transfer planned as well!
This will be one crazy week...I could have only 8 playing (at the absolute worst), or field 11 and have a sub. But everyone is in the same boat with Nani, Malouda, etc. so it'll be an interesting week to say the least.

im lucky because i took tevez out and have 4.2 sitting in my bank so could do straight swap nani>lamp

                  so my mid would be:

                  lampard,adam,vdv,fabregas

but would suck all my cash out and would only be for 2 weeks,

Sometimes, you have to stick it out with some of the players through hard fixtures because you know they're quality, and it's not worth losing them for only a few weeks only to bring them back in, often for a loss in value.

I looked at my team two weeks ago, and in my eyes, it was perfect. Rotatable fixtures among the defense, mid and attack, coverage of all 5 big teams, and OoP defenders.

Two weeks on, almost every player is a doubt or rotation risk, Coleman and maybe Elmo face being dropped, and I have 3 red flags.

The point is, a great looking team one week isn't a great looking team the next one. That's why it's pointless planning more than 2 weeks ahead and why it's also pointless to take loads of point hits. You never know what's going to happen, so choose fantasy solids, check the next 5 fixtures before you transfer anyone in or out, and keep a balanced team where you can straight swap almost anyone in rather than have to make 4 transfers for them.

    Drogba, Elmander (Carroll)

Given all my midfield is doubtful, although most should be back for following week, I’m proposing to ditch Jara (out for 3 weeks) – I can afford up to 5.5m, who do you reckon I should bring in?

Congrats on a 70 point week. That's pretty good considering.

I wouldn't have made the Chamakh move though. He's a rotation risk, doesn't have the kindest fixtures, and hasn't played particularly well. He was just the easy knee jerk from Tevez. Chicharito would have been a better pick imo.

wouldnt mind tevez going down .1 more though..

                    Nah. I'm here.

Hindsight is lovely indeed, but very, very bitter.

But as Gazzamania said re: Chamakh, that's not hindsight.

I was going around in "sell Tevez mania" last week saying "don't get Chamakh" he's overrated, yet nobody listened...

    Morning/afternoon/evening.

Well after much deliberating & stroking of the chin (mine). I've concluded that this week I'm not going to do anything drastic.

Just going to keep those 'injured' players & accept that this gameweek might be a bit pants. So it's going to be Konchesky>Alex. A nice long term move.

I reckon all these red flags & uncertainty, could actually be a blessing in disguise. Our mini league rivals will hopefully be transferring those red flagged players out like mad.

Fabregas getting the armband. Job done.

Today better bring some resolution to all this injury business, I'm tired of watching the players I would swap for go up in price.

I just need Ferguson to give a clear indication of Nani's chances, or Redknapp to tell us if VdV is out or not.

Exactly, why do a WC in a 10 day period with 3 GW's and numerous injuries and uncertainties to Nani/DVD/Mal/FAB/Tevez & Co. You just gonna have to get them back in sooner or later.

          Hutton sums it up.

The 2.0 in the bank is to account for the uncertainties of Nani and Malouda. They can be exchanged for Cahill.

TM, I am a lot more forward thinking that than. The fact you said I'm looking for a giid GW11 score encourages me because the team is set up for the next 6 gameweeks at least.

United attacking coverage? You basically mean Berbatov or Hernandez - I'm not confident of Hernandez' minutes as I anticipate a 4-5-1 formation in GW12 and 13, and I also expect Berbatov to be rotated, even witht eh current injury situation.

Hutton is the safest of the Spurs defenders, 4.8 ain't bad, and they have nice fixtures, rotating perfectly well with Cahill.

I take it back.... thoughts not appreciated, you all just assumed me to be an idiot. This is one of the only times I ever ask for help on this website, at the most critical time of my FPL year, the rest of the time I try to help others.

I was being sarcastic with the GW12 comment. You will have a different team to just about everyone here & that will either be good or bad. O'Shea is probably the biggest issue I can see in that team. If you want opinions, don't expect them to all be positive or else what's the point?

Is that a -1 because you don't like the post or a-1 because you have no problem dumping either from your team?

It is a subject that seems to effect quite a few on here-even this morning I've seen a couple of posts saying that they don't want to lose value on Malouda so don't want to take him out of their squads-even though he's out for this GW.

So just thought I'd try and raise a sensible debate about it.

The whole losing value thing is such a joke. If you refuse to lose value then you're tying yourself down to NEVER selling the player. The likelyhood is that at least one of them will suffer a 4 of 5 week injury at some point and you'll have to sell them then anyway.

Damn Cashley, now gone up to £8.3m! He'll be £9m soon. Boo!!!!

    Anelka or Drogba this weekend?

Drogba has scored in the last four matches against liverpool that chelsea have won, but Anelka is cheaper and quite good when he wants to be.

I'm looking to have one of them in to help cover the loss of Malouda from my lineup, especially with the run of games chelsea have coming up.

    Morning all,

Team news today could be even more significant than ever. My injury doubts are Nani, Tevez & Fabregas. If they all miss out I've got Konchesky, Nolan & Enrique coming off the bench which wouldn't be horrendous, especially as Fabregas being out might be to Nolan & Enrique's benefit.

However, I'd love to make up some ground over the upcoming turbulent week so I'm considering Nani OUT and Bale or Arteta IN.

I have 1 free and I can sell Nani at 8.5 and have cash to buy him back even at his current price, although I expect his ticket will drop and Bale's at least is probably going up.

Part of me thinks Bale is must-have and I can ride out the rotation risk and the question of converting CL form into FPL points.

I like Nolan in, but not till next week.

There are 3 mids I'm looking at for GW12 and 13: Etherington, Nolan or Parker.

Jones back enhances Ethers value for assists and bonis plus he has 4 home games in the next 6 and is on pens too.

Nolan has 2 juicy home games but Newcastle are a bit sporadic at home, plus everyone will be bringing in Nolan after his hat-trick last week. He could end up with 2 pts or 15 pts both weeks

Parker will benefit from Noble being out and will be behind everything West Ham do. They have a nice run of games coming up including 2 winnable home games in GW12 & 13.

Parker is the biggest differential in all this, Nolan potentially could outscore the other 2 or do nothing and Etherington is solid and reliable without being overly spectacular.

Leaning towards gambling on Parker as I need differentials now.

On the losing value thing , it all depends if you will have to buy them back again. I would never sell Nani just because he misses one game , because you know you going to have to buy him back .
Not only will he cost more but it also uses up two transfers , ione for selling him and one for buying him back. And its not guaranteed that the player you replace him with will even score any points

Why would Mancini be under any kind of pressure!!???

He has his team sitting nicely in 4th place, and their only goal this year is to finish 4th and maybe win europa.

Why would Mancini be under pressure! I don't get that! Man City have said over and over again that they are not title contenders and are only interested in securing champions league football for next season.

ya and with only two losses on the season before it was way too early to presume where they would finish. like i said with city it's a self implosion waiting to happen and is just a ticking time bomb- too many mercs.

See, this is a difficult week, I mean, you don't want to get someone who has got the home game this week and then two away games do ya? But by the same token you don't really want to get in someone with an away game this week... I would be fine had it not been for bloomin injuries and suspensions....

My team for this week ATM.

    Foster Jaask
    Coleman A.Cole Elmo Shawcross Jara**
Fabregas (C) * Nani * Malouda *(Waiting for confirmation from Ancelotti today) VDV * N'Zogbia
    Drogba Heskey** carroll.

Thats three definetly out, two of them are Jara and Heskey, who no-one really has, well some people have Jara but y'know. Then I have the four midfielders who may not play, I think Fabs will but the other three, I doubt will play. Re Nani, I think Nani wants to play against Wolves but Sir Alex isn't letting him.

The question is what trades are you doing if you have those 3 plus VDV & Nani out?

Depends how long they are out for... Heksey -> Obinna I think, or maybe Malouda -> Arteta and Heskey -> Hernandez.

When last did you look at your team? You have more pressing issues.

Jara & Stockdale for starters, not even looking at recent injury doubts. Selling a fit player = silly.

ya, one of many changes needed. i never saw the point in spending over 5 for a keeper.

I'm with the high ranked people above - don't touch team this GW, have 2 transfers for the 3 day window (which many league players will miss) and hopefully some of the red flag's and injury/rotation doubts will have cleared.
