Hot on the heels of the Fifth Round results, I bring you the fixtures for the last 16 of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power. With just eight match-ups to look at this time, it’s clear to see that the competition is reaching it’s conclusion. So without further ado, here are the all important fixtures…

  1. Back to Back Ballacks Vs. gooner dave
  2. DRP Vs. Animons
  3. Manif Vs. tippman
  4. Roger Vs. DaFoe22
  5. Ann_der_roo Vs. User
  6. sandgrounder Vs. Anorak
  7. BigRig Vs. Dksbananas
  8. DollyDaisy Vs. RJBroughton

The first fixture sees 3,297th in the world gooner dave taking on Back to Back Ballacks, who sits 85,623rd. Plenty of differentials in this one, with just six identical players. Despite the gulf in overall rank, it’s actually Back to Back Ballacks who has the greater squad value, so this tie is very difficult to call. Tevez could be the difference.

Next up, we have a closely-matched tie, as DRP (sitting on 665 points) takes on Animons (on 664 points). That point lead effectively gives DRP a half-point advantage going into the game, provided he doesn’t make another transfer.

Then we see tournament-outsider Manif, who is the lowest ranked manager left in the competition (despite moving up over 400k places since before round one), taking on tippman, who of course beat Mark in the very first round.

Last week’s top-scorer Roger (1,851st overall), has been drawn against DaFoe22 (6,028th overall). Once again the lower-ranked contender has the, albeit slight, team value advantage. An unusual tactic from Roger, sees him looking for the clean sheets that cost. With Petr Cech setting you back £6.7m, Ashley Cole £8.3m, Nemanja Vidic £7.4m and Leighton Baines£7.0m (with Seamus Coleman there to double up on Everton defenders), good defensive returns could be enough to see Roger through to the quarter-finals.

Round three top-scorer, and highest ranked manager in the competition, Ann_der_roo (44th in the world) takes on 13,266th in the world, User.

Spurs-fan Anorak will have his loyalties tested when he takes on sandgrounder, as Rafael Van der Vaart looks to be a key differential for the latter. On the flip-side, Liverpool-fan sandgrounder will have his loyalties tested when he takes on Anorak, as Paul Konchesky looks to be a key differential for the latter.

The penultimate tie of the round pits BigRig against Dksbananas. Both will be looking to show their bouncebackability and end the week with not only a quarter-final place, but also a green arrow.

Last, but by no means least, is DollyDaisy‘s game against RJBroughton. Both men sit locked together on 667 points, but it’s DollyDaisy’s superior midfield of Cesc Fabregas, Tim Cahill, Rafael Van der Vaart, Mikel Arteta and Matthew Etherington, to RJBroughton’s midfield of Clint Dempsey, Luis Nani, Gareth Bale, Mikel Arteta and Karl Henry, that will be the key difference for me.

So that’s that, all fixtures will be played out over Gameweek 13, and I’ll bring you the results early next week, before the live quarter-final draw on next podcast. As always, the top-scorer for the round will earn a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power.

[All previous results can be viewed right here.]

    So, Alex out.

    Alex and Barton missing, Elmo, Coleman and Mignolet unlikely to play.

    Guess I may just use my two freebies today. Who out, though?

    Any idea how long Alex is likely to be out for.

      me too, although just done a pts hit to head off this disaster of a season.

      I've gone reckless Barton and Alex out for GCahill and Brunt... both among my favourite FPL players and if I'm going to fail, I may as well fail in the knowledge that I'm going to pick up a bp or 2.

      why Elmo and Coleman unlikely to play?

      I thought it was more likely Elmo rested for the Chelsea match and surely Coleman will play at home against Arsenal given his recent form?

        You're right. A little hasty in how I put it, not unlikely to play, but a little more uncertainty potentially surrounds them now.

        Every chance they will play, but if they don't I'm a little threadbare.

    I am thinking of captaining VDV or Nzogbia. Am i mad?
    Foster ( carson )
    Elmo Cahill Konchesky (Dann alex)
    Arteta Fabregas Nani Nzogbia VDV (C)
    Torres Caroll (Odemwingi)

    Have 3.5mil in bank
    Have i got my team right? Should i sell Alex for Cole/Vidic for a 4 point hit as i see Dann and Elmo potential 0 point as well

            +1

            The whole point of a few cheap defenders / gk is that you can rotate according to fixtures. If they're all on the same team then it's suicide. Especially as the Newc fixtures stiffen.

    Looking for a few opinions on possible transfers I've slightly narrowed my options down.

    1. Faye & Arteta --> Simpson & Nani
    2. Faye & Dann/Coleman --> Simpson & Ivanovich
    3. Faye & Arteta --> Ivanovich & Nani

    Atm i'm leaning towards 2, not sure how well Nani will do vs Villa away and Arteta could do decent against arsenl.

    Opinions always appreciated..

    Hi guys,

    I'm heading off for the weekend so need some advice asap!

    My team is:

    Foster
    Distin, Alex, Williamson, (El Mohammady, Jara)
    Malouda, Walcott, Nani, Fabregas (Barton)
    Carroll, Drogba, Chamakh

    0.0 in the bank. I really want Tevez and N'Zogbia, but have a bit of an injury crisis at the back.
    Any help would be great.

    So, Alex is out. This is the plan for a 4 pt hit then,
    Krul -> Hahnemann
    Alex -> Cahill
    Jones -> 4.8 defender A, B or C

    Which would you prefer out of:
    A) Coleman
    B) Hutton
    C) Briggs

          I have Cole so I have Chelsea defensive coverage and I don't really need that amount of money benched from my defense every time there is a home game for Chelsea.

          Since no team besides Chelsea gets any CS:s I'd like to get defenders that get their points elsewhere. Cahill get a lot of bp:s, if he can average 1 bp per game and get the occasional CS that will do.

      The natural choice would be one of Drogba, Malouda or VDV given they're all doing well this season and all at home

      However, will Drogba be back on form after his illness, probably not. With Essien out of the picture, this may give more opportunities for Malouda.

      Fabs still hasnt hit form and away to Everton who arent doing too badly defensively so far, i think its a risk giving it to Fabs.

      Carroll without Barton delivering, I'm not sure is worth the risk?

      Nani, still may not be on form after the groin injury and Villa wont give them an easy match.

      Cole could keep a clean sheet though, but one goal in and his points have gone.

      So, Malouda or VDV for me.

        cheers for the well thought out explanation. Malouda has worried me recently with a lack of production and is getting subbed off alot lately. If I knew VDV was 100% fit, i think i would take him but I dont know how much to weigh in the redknapp report of VDV not being fully fit yet. I guess im leaning vdv now. He has been rather bankable at home thus far.
