Hot on the heels of the Fifth Round results, I bring you the fixtures for the last 16 of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power. With just eight match-ups to look at this time, it’s clear to see that the competition is reaching it’s conclusion. So without further ado, here are the all important fixtures…

  1. Back to Back Ballacks Vs. gooner dave
  2. DRP Vs. Animons
  3. Manif Vs. tippman
  4. Roger Vs. DaFoe22
  5. Ann_der_roo Vs. User
  6. sandgrounder Vs. Anorak
  7. BigRig Vs. Dksbananas
  8. DollyDaisy Vs. RJBroughton

The first fixture sees 3,297th in the world gooner dave taking on Back to Back Ballacks, who sits 85,623rd. Plenty of differentials in this one, with just six identical players. Despite the gulf in overall rank, it’s actually Back to Back Ballacks who has the greater squad value, so this tie is very difficult to call. Tevez could be the difference.

Next up, we have a closely-matched tie, as DRP (sitting on 665 points) takes on Animons (on 664 points). That point lead effectively gives DRP a half-point advantage going into the game, provided he doesn’t make another transfer.

Then we see tournament-outsider Manif, who is the lowest ranked manager left in the competition (despite moving up over 400k places since before round one), taking on tippman, who of course beat Mark in the very first round.

Last week’s top-scorer Roger (1,851st overall), has been drawn against DaFoe22 (6,028th overall). Once again the lower-ranked contender has the, albeit slight, team value advantage. An unusual tactic from Roger, sees him looking for the clean sheets that cost. With Petr Cech setting you back £6.7m, Ashley Cole £8.3m, Nemanja Vidic £7.4m and Leighton Baines£7.0m (with Seamus Coleman there to double up on Everton defenders), good defensive returns could be enough to see Roger through to the quarter-finals.

Round three top-scorer, and highest ranked manager in the competition, Ann_der_roo (44th in the world) takes on 13,266th in the world, User.

Spurs-fan Anorak will have his loyalties tested when he takes on sandgrounder, as Rafael Van der Vaart looks to be a key differential for the latter. On the flip-side, Liverpool-fan sandgrounder will have his loyalties tested when he takes on Anorak, as Paul Konchesky looks to be a key differential for the latter.

The penultimate tie of the round pits BigRig against Dksbananas. Both will be looking to show their bouncebackability and end the week with not only a quarter-final place, but also a green arrow.

Last, but by no means least, is DollyDaisy‘s game against RJBroughton. Both men sit locked together on 667 points, but it’s DollyDaisy’s superior midfield of Cesc Fabregas, Tim Cahill, Rafael Van der Vaart, Mikel Arteta and Matthew Etherington, to RJBroughton’s midfield of Clint Dempsey, Luis Nani, Gareth Bale, Mikel Arteta and Karl Henry, that will be the key difference for me.

So that’s that, all fixtures will be played out over Gameweek 13, and I’ll bring you the results early next week, before the live quarter-final draw on next podcast. As always, the top-scorer for the round will earn a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power.

[All previous results can be viewed right here.]

Bale. Look at the points Bale has been getting. VDV plays = 2 points for Bale.

Adam could score against West Ham

He's up against Salgado though this weekend...

Last season, he absolutely skinned him. As a Rovers fan, I'm very worried about Bale this weekend.

    Regarding Coleman--
let’s look at the facts as if coleman was’nt an OOP Cheap fpl player.. Scores a goal and is dropped 2 days later??.. brought back on in the last 30 mins when everton needed to score.. it looks to me like the boy just needed some rest and the rest just shows how important he is.. it’s just everyone gettin paranoid cause he seems too good to be true at the price

B4 the bolton game Everton had Fellaini who could play Cahill's position, Arteta and pienaar who they cant afford to bench cause their entire game is based around them, and Heitinga and G.Neville who can take up Fellaini's position.. the prob is their strikers and Right mid.. Apart from Coleman right now no one in the side is good enought to play there!! and yak and saha are known for injuries so have to be rested.. so bein that vital moyes rested Yakubu and Coleman(2 form players too) on tuesday.. Worry not

You are also more likely to get a reply if you do, I quite often get replies to my RMT's (9 Times out of 10), also if you put a little effort into the presentation to make it more readable for the answerer.

    Hmmm, I can see Clint Dempsey doing well at Newcastle this week, I can't/won't get him in, just food for thought If you need a replacement. Reasons;

    -Newcastle defence is pretty crap
-Newcastle aren't that good at home
-Dempsey is playing as a striker
-He is also a good player IMO

I would get him in if I didn't have a decent enough midfield already.

He's the kind of player not may people will be able to squeeze in, due to the tendency to go for 3 or 4 'big' midfielders and the abundance of 'cheap' options aswell. Good differential if that's what you're after.

Well my mate at the start of the season chose his team, and didn't really know how to play FF at all, so as you do, you choose the players you think are good, that involved Nani VDV and A.Young, Drogba Terry and others, and had a cracking start to the season. He (I) have sort of forgotten about it now but sometimes (This season especially) choosing the players you think are playing better/better is good. Not just the better FF players.

Not a great long term option imo.

He's too expensive, and Fulham aren't exactly prolific.

Pick from Nolan, Adam, N'Zogbia, Brunt, Barton, Jarvis instead.

    Afternoon folks,

I am making two transfers this week...

I need to downgrade Arteta to one of the following - Etherington, Parker or N'Zogbia.

I feel like N'zog will get more over the season, but Ethers has better fixtures over the next few weeks.

I am I crazy even considering Parker? Looks like a bit of a BP magnet, especially at home.

if you have a free transfer to use and it is burning a hole in your pocket, then I would go Malouda to VDV as you have Drogba up front.

That said Drogba may still not be fully fit and with Essien out Malouda could run riot

I'd be more inclined to do 1 than 2. You'd be getting Torres in whilst he's hitting form, and ahead of a very tasty fixture next week. You'd also keep Malouda for Chelsea coverage whilst Drogba is out of form/not 100%.

Also, VDV's fixtures after this week are sh*t.

He'll be a regular, there's no doubt about that.... The only doubt is how soon Mancini wants to start him. You'd have thought that a home game with Birmingham is the perfect opportunity to ease him back into the side.

No, not for me. Cahill has a decent record against the so called bigger teams.... and he's at home. Partridge was saying yesterday that Nani is still struggling with his groin, so it's probably best to avoid him for this week. It's not as if he has a good fixture anyway...

It's pretty hard to assess exactly how good at his job he is.... But he certainly isn't the most astute tactically, and judging by the majority of comments from fellow Chelsea fans, people aren't too worried or displeased that he's left.

It will interesting to find out the exact reason why he's left though. Chelsea are being pretty coy on the matter.

hmm, i've left myself with a dilemma. one of t.cahil, brunt, nzog and nolan have to be benched. all are possible players.

cahil - at home, strong player could bother arsenal
    brunt - bonus point magnet
nzog - at home, him and roddy seem to alternate having good games
nolan - at home, possibly filling bartons role too

    Dempsey or Berbatov (lol)?

I think Fulham are poor away and Newcastle's defence has been good (the two goals conceded last game) were poor mistakes but apart from that... I also have a Newcastle defender playing. 😛

Berbatov's been rubbish in FPL and may not start/play 90 mins but Villa are doing poor at the moment and I can see Berbatov getting at least an assist from the game.

I'd appeciate any feedback. 🙂 I have 60-40 to Berbatov at the moment but probably have to go to Flip Coin for VDV, Nani or Drogba as captain (currently on Drogba).
