187th in the world. Let me just say that again, 187th in the world!! I’m getting a serious nosebleed up here and my breathing is laboured. How long before I come tumbling back down the mountain?

Meanwhile, Mark is in bits and it’s understandable after the week he’s just had. In addition to my week, Bale out and Malouda captain made it a triple compound injury and the only cure for him is a bit of retail therapy in the form of ‘wildcard window shopping’.

The early transfer comes under discussion. Folly or fortune? It’s also the quarter finals of the Scout Cup III as the draw comes live(ish) from the podcast studio.

So, don’t be an ‘Audley’ Mark, you’ve gotta pick yourself up off the canvas; there’s a 187 here requiring immediate attention.

OK folks we have a glaring mistake in the cup draw. It turns out that Anorak didn’t make the quarter finals, Sandgrounder beat him soundly 54 – 46. So apologies to Sandgrounder and good luck in your tie against Gooner Dave

Can everyone chill the f out on Kolarov?! He is one of 5 players who can play that position in the City team: Zabaleta, Boateng, Bridge & Lescott being the others.

Rotation is a huge problem with City given their squad size and Europa involvement.

As yet all we can glean is that Mancini will play Hart (injury doubt), Kompany (reverse oop) and Kolo, 2/3 DMs - De Jong, Yaya and maybe Barry, and Tevez. All the other positions - ie the full backs and wingers - are subject to heavy rotation.

No way, Mancini hates Bridge and Les; they will play the cups and meaningless europa league games at very best.
This leaves Zaba, Richards, Boeateng and Kolarov for two spots - with clearly Boateng and Kolarov being first choice.

Same risk as getting ANY defenders from the big 4 (except maybe for Vidic, fit Terry and Cole, all overpriced) - but Kolarov takes FK and corners

I bought Kolarov last week and got a start and clean sheet, so Ill certainly be holding on to him.

Citeh paid a lot for him, even by their standards, so I think he will start most games when fit.

      Bridge isn't great.
Lescott is seemingly out of favour in a big way.
Boateng plays RB usually, although I agree he can play LB.
Zabaleta is also more of a RB.

City need goals at the moment, and Kolarov is the most attacking of all the options you presented, so Id imagine he will play.

Its a gamble, yes, but it could seriously pay off (cue goals and assists from corners and free kicks)

Considering the problems City have had a left back this season, and how good Kolarov is (the second best LB in the world according to Mourinho) I think we can safely assume that he'll play pretty much every game in the league.

Boateng is no left back, as was clear for everyone to see during the world cup, and will be playing at right back the majority of the time.

Rumours are that City are trying to get rid of Bridge (along with SWP) so it seems as though he is out of favour, and should pose much of a problem for Kolarov owners.

So that leaves Lescott - shit, and Zabaleta - the ultimate utility man who may pose a problem to Kolarov, but I can't see it personally.

The reasons why people want to have him are clear:

      - Man City keep a lot of clean sheets.
      - He's the cheapest option in their defence.
      - He takes a lot of set pieces, and has a decent enough record at Lazio going forward.
      - City have excellent fixtures over the next 8 or so gameweek, although I can understand a relutance to get him for the next two (ful stk).
      - Jamsiep has him.

Dunno, but in the Premier League it's the other way round! Ivanovic is probably the best of a bad bunch. But Cole, Kolarov and Evra - although not this season - are all top quality left backs. Even Clichy, at last from a couple of seasons ago, can be a class act.

ACole, Drogba or Tevez seem the only sensible ways in George.

Shipping out Dann this week for either Konchesky or Onuoha to rotate with an Everton defender.

Only taking home fixtures into account Konchesky seems the obvious choice but Liverpool haven't shown any signs of stability so far this season.

Onuoha looks pretty solid in the Sunderland defence but how certain is Konchesky in the starting line up?

I'm not getting this Onouha love in. Sure he scored a Hollywood goal at the weekend, but I can't see many more of those in his career let along this season.
Bardsley is the man with the stats, and at 4.3m he saves a good chunk of cash to boost elsewhere if it's a Sunderland defender you're after.

Bardsley is playing well currently - but my worry would be that if/when Anton Ferdinand is fit then he poses a real threat to his starting position. As far as I am aware, pre injury AF was 1st choice ahead of Bards. Post injury Bards has performed well, but if nothing else then I could see a fair amount of rotation.....

Torn between keeping him and backing that Chelsea's goal drought comes to an end in the next 4, and just jacking him in and getting VdV like all my rivals (that are ahead of me)

Morning all iv decided if rooney is starting hes my captain.... but who to replace out of Tevez and Drogba. A quick look at the fixtures and tevez has the easier in the next 6 however drogba always scores against the big teams. Both are on pens and are in for a shout on FKs, although lampard will be back in a couple of weeks taking this away from drogs.

I bought drogs for 13.1 and tevez for 10.7. My only othe chelsea is bosingwa and my only other city is boateng.

I am planning on doing Malouda -> Nani this week but have other problem areas in my team that are going to need sorting soon. I don't think any are worth a 4 point hit though.

My team for this week will be...

    Carson (Mignolet)
    Coleman Konchesky Jones
    Nani VdV Bale Fabregas (Barton)
    Drogba Tevez Carroll

Ok or do I need a hit somewhere? I will have a couple of million in the bank freed up by my transfer.

Do you plan to keep both Bale and VDV for the foreseeable future? They are both good value, but Tottenham's fixtures are pretty awful...

You're obviously going to have to get rid of Mignolet soon, but that can wait a week with Carson having a good fixture. If you are happy with Bale and VDV then I'd leave it, that team is easily good enough for this week.

P.S. I see that Flawless scored for Luton on Saturday, and it's a massive shame that MK Dons lost night in the FA Cup..... A second round tie vs AFC Wimbledon would have been generally awesome.

The plan was never to have both Bale and VdV.

However, I wanted VdV last week and the only way I could get him in was for Arteta. The plan was to ditch Bale this week but after his performance that is hard, especially for a hit. I will probably get rid soon but think I will keep it for this week.

Yeah I saw Flawless bagged for Luton... typical.

Did MK Dons lose? I last saw it when they were 1-0 up. Gutted, I wanted AFC Wimbledon to do them in the next round.

    2 freebies = pressure!!

Mal > Nani (obvious really), but then...

Was thinking Baines > Vidic (leaving me MAN, BLR and WB/SUN - depending on Elmo playing or not - as my GW defence).

Elmo > Vidic wipes my bank. Baines out leaves 1.9m in the bank and scope to address my Midfield.

Yet he always admits that Levy deals with signing players and sorting out contracts, but it is him who gets the credit for signing people like VDV so cheaply.

Ultimately, Real offered VDV out to clubs at a cut price, and Tottenham/Levy/Redknapp figured that the 8 million was great value for someone like VDV. As far as I can tell the transfer was a bit of a no brainer, but the media like to tell us how 'Arry is a genius for signing him at such a low price.

Personally I think Harry would flop at international level. He is doing a great job at spurs, dont get me wrong but he leaves a lot of things to chance by the sounds of it and I feel he would get found out. Just my opinion of course and no doubt millions would disagree!!

I was watching sky sports news on transfer deadline day night and Harry said he had never even mentioned signing VdV but got a phonecall just before the deadline from Levy saying they could get him for £8m and Harry said just yes please.

I don't know, you could easily argue that motivation is an even bigger factor in international football than club football as you have so little time.

I need help with who to play this weekend from -

    My team looks like

    Foster/Hahnemann
    Vidic, Zhirkov, Dann, Tamas, Coleman
    Nani, Fabregas, Bale, Cahill, Brunt
    Torres, Elmander, Carroll

Hahnemann should be the natural choice this weekend but I'm not so sure given Chelsea's recent form, Foster could keep a cs.

Same defence wise, Vidic for sure, but which other two defenders to play?

Nani, Fabs, Elmander, Carroll and Torres for sure, assuming no injuries in the internationals, but then which two out of Cahill, Brunt or Bale?

          Ooooh, well get you.

I don't see how you can just dismiss though considering your option B was:

          Elmohamady – R.Ferdinand
          Malouda – Nzogbia
          Piquionne – Tevez

As far as I'm concerned Vidic is a better fantasy prospect than Rio. Jarvis falls into the same price bracket at N'zogbia and offers will outscore him over the next 6 weeks. Tevez, has done bot all in the last 5 weeks and has 4 away games in his next six. You've clearly thought about a Bolton striker as you've got Davies in option A and Elmander stands in good stead to score a shed load of points in the coming weeks.

Elmander cant score at home, tevez has good fixtures comming up and is cities main attacking threat.
