A change in tactics last season following Owen Coyle’s arrival at the Reebok has seen Bolton place more and more emphasis on a short passing game than the physical, long ball tactics of yesteryear.  Coyle has also demonstrated a willingness to trust younger, unproven players, giving opportunities last season to  loaners like Jack Wilshere and Vladimir Weiss, and relying heavily this season on a trio of young midfielders, Stuart Holden (25), Fabrice Muamba (22), and Chung-Yong Lee (22).  Not surprisingly, Coyle’s faith has paid off, with Bolton sitting tied for 5th and with the youngest of the group, Lee, currently having the most points of any Bolton midfielder.

While I touched on Bolton’s defense (or lack thereof) in last week’s Watchlist article on Gary Cahill, there has never been any question that Bolton’s attack remains the strength of this season’s squad.  The fleet-footed Lee has brought his stereotypical South Korean work ethic to the Trotters’ right flank, supported by the desire and ability to fit into Coyle’s more aesthetically pleasing brand of football.  Lee has thrived in this system.

In addition to 1 goal, Lee already has 5 assists from the first 13 games, picking up two assists this past week against Wolves, pressuring and attacking to create an own goal and then calmly laying off a short back pass for an easy Holden strike.  And, with Martin Petrov dealing with a hamstring problem and now facing a challenge from Matthew Taylor for minutes on the left side of the midfield, Lee emerges as the safe play in the Bolton midfield, and quite the bargain with his price dropping to its present FPL level of 5.2.

Lee is currently owned by only 1.8% of the FPL owners.  Similar to the recent discussion of Wolves and Matthew Jarvis, Lee presents a nice differential and an attractive new budget option who is deserving of an extra bump on your cheat sheet due to a favorable run of fixtures that sees Bolton facing NEW, BLP, mcy, BLA, sun, WBA in the next 7 gameweeks.

    Foster,
    Elmo,O’Shea,Jara,
    Nani(C),Malouda,Fabs,Adam,
    Drogs,Tevez,Odemwingie.

Subs: Krul,Coleman,D.Collins,Barton.(0.0 in the bank,1 free transfer)

Can someone suggest a good transfer for my team for this week?If all of Elmo,O'Shea and Adam don't play, then considering Barton is already suspended I might not even be able to field 11 men this week.I was thinking of doing Barton->Albrighton/Ferguson,but if Adam is ok,how about Malouda-VdV?

I would stick with Malouda and Tevez to be honest.

Chelsea are gonna need to go out all guns firing if they want to get anything from their next few games and Malouda is bound to be involved and I can see Tevez being in the points at Fulham.

I have Bale and VDV going into this weekend. Do I bench one of them for Dempsey? Other Midfielders are Nani and Nasri.

    Cheers

That's quite a dilemma.Personally,I'd stick with both Bale and VdV as they are both fixture proof and besides I don't think Dempsey will come good against Citeh. Now will you answer my question?Right above you.

Cheeers that was my thinking too.

In terms of your squad, I would agree with the other response that perhaps you need to strengthen your defence. However, of the two suggested transfers, I would go for Malouda, although it does not raise much cash for future defensive upgrades, which I would certainly consider.

Who would you bench from Arteta and VDV?

Also, is it madness to consider captaining Vidic over Nani?

Simply on form - Arteta, but if you're going to bench an 8.2 player then you probably shouldn't have him.

      Not madness, but tempting fate.

    Hi People,
    My team is:

    Hart
    Vidic, Sagna, Toure
Jarvis, Nani, Nasri, Van der Vaart
    K Davies, Torres, Carrol

    Subs:
    Yaya Toure, Ridgewell, Jara

    1.7 in the bank

How should I upgrade my team?

Seriously considering bringing in Rooney or Van Persie
    Also want someone from Chelsea
    But who?

If you wanted to gamble then go with torres -> rooney although id wait a week.
downgrade yaya -> brunt/adam/n'zog/lee all much better value!

Agreed that Lampard will revitalise Chelsea's attacking fortunes, but that will benefit all the forward players, not just Lampard.

Malouda's goalscoring whilst Lampard was around was also down to his ridiculous conversion rate at the start of the season - something like six goals from 7 shots. I don't think he has particularly missed out on opportunities since Lampard left, more he hasn't been converting them.

Who for? Can't see who you would get rid of in defence to afford either. Reason I ask is because Kolorov is not yet nailed on starter and Elmo and Jara (game yesterday morn, long haul Chile trip) may well not start this week so you could end up short at the back.

Chelsea not looking great defensively for a few weeks at least, so would tend to say Kolorov as offensive and defensive prospects both look good.

I dissed Lee last night but looking at his stats on the bus into work this morning revised my opinion.

Only issue is if want Davies or Elmander next week then Lee is too much Bolton offence.

May just get Jarvis or Albrighton.

Jarvis's fixtures are better in the short run than Alby's but I'd get a BOL player this week if I was about to get one.

Arghhhhhhhhh! In a right mess this week. Could do with some helpful suggestions please folks:

    Jaask [Gilks]

    [Alex] Toure Coleman (Elmo) Simpson
    Fabregas {Walcott} (Adam) Nani [Barton]
    Drogs Torres Carroll

    [] = Won't play
    () = Probably won't play
{} = Not a great prospect to start

Could be left with 9 starters including Simpson who doesn't look great this week away to Bolton. Have one transfer and 0.2 in bank.

Possible change Alex > Kolorov (but tempted to go Boateng instead as Kolorov not certain and can't afford another non-player).

I am normally against points hits for defs but is it worth getting rid of Elmo to ensure I have an XI (have 5.3m to replace if I do Boateng above)? Would mean I have a bit more stability in future weeks. Thanks in advance.

So las as ye can see I'm in absolute freefall (I got mixed up with that gameshow pointless thought I was doing fcukin class) My def is killing me so I need to sort that, but would ye swap mal-nani and O'shea to vid for a hit or should I now keep malouda as a small bit of a diff and just either do cole-elman/davies with the hope that O'shea plays, or just dump 0'shea for kolorov etc. Any advice would be great (and much needed)

"Gabriel Agbonlahor, Ciaran Clark and Richard Dunne are all set to be available to Aston Villa this weekend.

The Midlands outfit have suffered terribly with injuries of late, but have welcomed the news that three key men will be fit for Sunday's trip to Blackburn."

          No worries.

In response to your original question, I'd probably play Kolarov, Foley and Coleman, but all five are playing away so it's not a great position to be in. I think an argument could be made for or against any of them. Good luck!
