Seamus Coleman has been a highly sought-after choice for Fantasy Managers so far this season, with a telling current ownership of 8.4% in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game. Everton’s shortage of natural right-sided midfielders has meant that the Irishman, who generally favours the right-back position, has had to slot into a new role on the flank. The “Out of Position” (OoP) defender has done a notable job, picking up an respectable 43 points in the FPL game so far this season, and priced at just £4.9 million it’s easy to see why the 22 year-old has become such a desirable choice.

In his last six games Coleman has only completed 90 minutes twice and was even benched for the game against Bolton on November 10. It seems that the bright start he made at the beginning of the season has teetered off in recent weeks and David Moyes could now be looking for another solution. The return to fitness of Jack Rodwell and Victor Anichebe has bolstered Moyes’ options and the threat to Coleman’s starting role is now building, giving his opportunist Fantasy owners a cause for concern…

After shaking off his ankle injury, Jack Rodwell is perhaps the biggest threat to Coleman’s starting role. The England U21 international has come off the bench in the Toffee’s last two games and even directly replaced Coleman during the 2-2 draw at Sunderland on Monday.

Victor Anichebe, although primarily a striker, is another option for the troubled right midfield position; he has comfortably filled this role in the past. Having been ruled out all season so far with a knee problem, Anichebe impressed by scoring on his return for the reserves and is vying for a first team recall. A bench role against West Brom at Goodison this weekend looks likely, with Rodwell pushing to start ahead of Coleman in that potentially profitable home fixture.

With this uncertainty of regular match time looming over Coleman and Sunderland’s Elmohamady already diminished as a cheap “out of position” option, FPL Managers will be looking for similarly priced defensive replacements to fill the void.

Phil Bardsley (£4.3 million) of Sunderland could be a promising option with the Black Cats currently on a good run of form and an ownership of just 1.1%. Blackburn’s Phil Jones (£4.5 million), ever-present this season, presents a less attacking “out of position” prospect; he faces a kind run of opponents after the weekend trip to Old Trafford. Birmingham’s Scott Dann (£4.8 million) who is has picked up 52 points, has proved a popular choice, although Birmingham’s fixtures remain tough in the weeks to come. Having said that, Dann and his team-mates have defied the odds to pick up consecutive clean sheets against City and Chelsea over the previous two Gameweeks.

There are options then and it’s perhaps too early to knee jerk and oust Coleman just yet, but Moyes’ teamsheet come Saturday’s clash with the Baggies will certainly be a concern for Coleman’s many Fantasy owners.

Rooney's body language is worrying. He doesn't seem to be going in for tackles he would've, and isn't calling for the ball half as much as he use to.

Let's just hope it's because he hasn't played and nothing else..

Hi all, I have neglected my FF team and I'm in dire shape at the back. Could really do with alot of advice so please don't be shy!

    Foster, Hahnenmann
    O'Shea, Elmo, Coleman, Bosingwa, Konchesky
    Bale, Fabregas, Nani, N'Zogbia, Barton
    Tevez, Drogba, Carroll

Could do with a WC but its long gone. I was thinking Fabs > VDV to free up some cash to sort out my defense but i don't know who to get rid first and who to bring in, please help me
    Cheers

Do you guys reckon Bardsley, Nasri and Tevez should score at least 8 points more than Hutton, Ferguson (BIR) and Carroll this GW?

Or possibly suggest another 8.0m or less MID instead of Nasri who might get me the 8+ points.

They arent my transfers btw, just the players I'd have to play if I dont do three transfers.

      Very tough question.

      Tevez - stk
      Nasri - avl
      Bardsley - wol

All away fixtures, despite wol & stk being 'easy' on paper this season has proved anything can happen.

I would play Hutton and get Nzogbia & Tevez in for Fab & Carroll.

Good point about anything happening this season, maybe I've been too blinkered by the colour coding on the season ticker!

I hadnt looked at N'Zogbia but his next two dont look bad and I'm dubious about Arsenal at the mo, so could be a good option.

And you're spot on it is Fab and Carroll I'm taking out. The other would be Williamson!

        Much appreciated Hunter 🙂

Worried about VDV injury doubt now. He was my choice for Fabs replacement. I haven't had VDV in my team at all so far and I think it's no coincidence his 42 points in the last 3 GWs have seen me drop 40,000 places in those same 3 GWs!
    Here's my plan for you lot to appraise please;

Fabs OUT Cahill IN (would mean Arteta & Cahill home to WBA), this is for 4 point hit as I kneejerked ACole OUT Vidic IN last Sat PM.

Next week Arteta OUT MGP IN/ Piquonne OUT Torres IN (4 point)

    I've only done 3 x 4 points all year

    Does that look good? Thanks

I can't see what all the fuss is about. Sure, Jose's decision was morally questionable, but ethics go out the window when you're managing a team at that level. Football is a business now, whether we like it or not (and I personally don't like it, coming from the old school).
If you were managing in the business world at such a high level, you wouldn't have a second thought about doing something like that to gain an unmissable opportunity for your company.
