Seven wins later and we have the final four in the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power. Three of the four remaining fantasy managers will win sizeable free bets, but one could well walk away with absolutely nothing (gooner dave is the only semi-finalist with a top-score prize so far). Let’s take a look at how the semi-finals line-up…

Semi-Final One

tippman Vs. DRP

tippman‘s Route To The Semi-Finals: 1st Rd – 67-66 Mark, 2nd Rd – 60-33 Pieman, 3rd Rd – 55-52 Daz, 4th Rd – 30-24 livnal, 5th Rd – 41-37 Unwilling player, Last 16 – 41-39 Manif, Quarters – 65-62 User.

DRP’s Route To The Semi-Finals: 1st Rd – 59-55 nomar, 2nd Rd – 50-37 deppy35, 3rd Rd – 54-43 coisou, 4th Rd – 33-30 Markus1, 5th – 42-41 Gazzamania, Last 16 – 60-55 Animons, Quarters – 70-61 DollyDaisy.

As if seeded, the first semi-final pits the highest-ranked fantasy manager in the semi-finals against the lowest-ranked. 2,682nd in the world DRP may be in a spot of bother here, having already taken taken a four-point hit, and with a couple of injury concerns. Perhaps those transfers have addressed his problems, we will have to see. As for tippman, well he looks well set this week having already got a couple of Bolton players in for their good run.

Semi-Final Two

The Von Vs. gooner dave

The Von’s Route To The Semi-Finals: 1st Rd – 67-64 Joe Mellor, 2nd Rd – 59-48 Gumby, 3rd Rd – 63-55 Duffman11, 4th Rd – 37-29 andy85wsm, 5th Rd – 39-37 Dksbananas, Last 16 – 51-43 BigRig, Quarters – 71-59 DaFoe22.

gooner dave’s Route To The Semi-Finals: 1st Rd – 74-54 skinnyfish, 2nd Rd – 60-55 jms, 3rd Rd – 60-55 beeduybe, 4th Rd – 29-22 Azfad, 5th Rd – 40-37 coot, Last 16 – 45-44 Back to Back Ballacks, Quarters – 75-56 sandgrounder.

Most of The Von’s and gooner dave’s big-hitters cancel each other out, apart from one key match-up. The Von’s Kevin Davies against gooner dave’s Carlos Tevez could hold the key in this tie. Having said that, how both fantasy managers deal with an injured Cesc Fabregas could also be the deciding factor.

So good luck to all four semi-finalists this week, and I’ll bring you news of how it played out next week.

Good luck to all four semi-finalists and I hope your planets and stars align over the weekend. 🙂

But, if I'm totally honest, my allegiance is with gooner dave. This is my first season in FPL and via an ex-pats in Germany forum, he introduced me to the game and became my mentor. What was supposed to be a bit of fun has turned into reading FFS and FPL extensively, writing copious GW plans and still getting it f*cking wrong, whilst losing my real life. 🙁

So, if you read this Dave, I hate you and good luck! 😉

Just heard news on a radio sports show over here in broke Oirland that it's snowing in Newcastle is this true?

if so could the Newcastle v Chelsea match be under threat really would like to get info as I have 3 of Romans's foot soldiers in my team so if it is under any danger of being called off would consider takin a 4 pt it and transferring one of his minions out.

    Thank you

The game will only be called of under health and safety reasons. So consider it and your three Roman foot soldiers still marching on.

Looks like gooner dave is off to FPL Wembley. At 46-45 in his favour, minus a 4pt hit for The Von (if I'm reading it right), they'll both have the same team Cole/Konch/VDV/Drogs and Carroll to play, or not to play, tomorrow.

Commiserations and best wishes in equal amounts. It's a funny old game, this FPL malarkey.

And it appears tippman is off to FFS Wembley as well. 71-38 up against DRP with only two to play on both teams. tippman went for Berbafivegoal and an inspired Piquionne (C) choice. Actually they were probably both inspired choices.

Again, commiserations and best wishes in abundance.

Blackburn were poor but United were very good. Berba and Rooney both played well together. On Berba's last goal he was trying to square it to Rooney but it rebounded back to him so he smashed it in. Berba could have had another couple as well.

Hey! Now all we need is gooner dave to make an appearance and post, and it'll be like those aftermatch semi-final interviews we see on telly. But in a forum-type context thingy. It makes sense in my head. 😉

I wouldn't read too much into the result today. Allardyce's sides always let Utd walk all over them...

Allardyce's delight after a 2-0 defeat at OT a couple of years ago sums it up. The man would do anything to please Fergie.
