Seven wins later and we have the final four in the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power. Three of the four remaining fantasy managers will win sizeable free bets, but one could well walk away with absolutely nothing (gooner dave is the only semi-finalist with a top-score prize so far). Let’s take a look at how the semi-finals line-up…

Semi-Final One

tippman Vs. DRP

tippman‘s Route To The Semi-Finals: 1st Rd – 67-66 Mark, 2nd Rd – 60-33 Pieman, 3rd Rd – 55-52 Daz, 4th Rd – 30-24 livnal, 5th Rd – 41-37 Unwilling player, Last 16 – 41-39 Manif, Quarters – 65-62 User.

DRP’s Route To The Semi-Finals: 1st Rd – 59-55 nomar, 2nd Rd – 50-37 deppy35, 3rd Rd – 54-43 coisou, 4th Rd – 33-30 Markus1, 5th – 42-41 Gazzamania, Last 16 – 60-55 Animons, Quarters – 70-61 DollyDaisy.

As if seeded, the first semi-final pits the highest-ranked fantasy manager in the semi-finals against the lowest-ranked. 2,682nd in the world DRP may be in a spot of bother here, having already taken taken a four-point hit, and with a couple of injury concerns. Perhaps those transfers have addressed his problems, we will have to see. As for tippman, well he looks well set this week having already got a couple of Bolton players in for their good run.

Semi-Final Two

The Von Vs. gooner dave

The Von’s Route To The Semi-Finals: 1st Rd – 67-64 Joe Mellor, 2nd Rd – 59-48 Gumby, 3rd Rd – 63-55 Duffman11, 4th Rd – 37-29 andy85wsm, 5th Rd – 39-37 Dksbananas, Last 16 – 51-43 BigRig, Quarters – 71-59 DaFoe22.

gooner dave’s Route To The Semi-Finals: 1st Rd – 74-54 skinnyfish, 2nd Rd – 60-55 jms, 3rd Rd – 60-55 beeduybe, 4th Rd – 29-22 Azfad, 5th Rd – 40-37 coot, Last 16 – 45-44 Back to Back Ballacks, Quarters – 75-56 sandgrounder.

Most of The Von’s and gooner dave’s big-hitters cancel each other out, apart from one key match-up. The Von’s Kevin Davies against gooner dave’s Carlos Tevez could hold the key in this tie. Having said that, how both fantasy managers deal with an injured Cesc Fabregas could also be the deciding factor.

So good luck to all four semi-finalists this week, and I’ll bring you news of how it played out next week.

    oooh captain dilemma.

    Nani/Elmander/Drogba/Cahill?

Currently thinking Drogba, with backup as Form (Elmander). Tough one. Drogba was great vs Brum despite not scoring, and this could well be the week Chelsea backlash. Rivals will probably captain Nani

Right lads made my free transfer already (Cesc > Lee)but herein lies the problem..
    I have:
Bosinga and Elmo (unlikely to start)
    Albrighton (inj)
    VDV (50/50 apparently)
    Simpson (1 point at best)
    Ferguson (2 points likely)

Considering 2 hits to swap Elmo & Albrighton --> Kolarov & Nasri or N'Zogbia
    Worth it?

I have three Chelsea players, and was always planning to get rid of one after newcastle this week, as their fixtures look shite after that.

I hear there is game postponement as a possibility at newcastle. Is the general consensus to dump a week early?

I have two transfers, but also wanted to dump Fab...

Points hits are something I want to avoid! Suggestions?

I'd be wary about making transfers out based on the game beign called off. You'll be fuming if it isn't.

By the same token i wouldn't bring anyone in who is playing in that game.

Other than that = business as usual imo.

Usually a bad idea to double up on def, but if you're going to, City are probably the best choice (now that Chelsea's def is looking shakier with Terry out and Alex needing an op, and they have tough fixtures).

I've doubled up on Birmingham def in past seasons and it's worked (usually keeper and def, but still)

Fabs to Nasri, maybe? Would say Fabs to VDV, but you've got Bale already. Hernandez to Elmander or Davies would be popular, too - I'm still not convinced by Elmander, but pretty sure that's just my prejudice towards Bolton (years of Big Sam, Little Sam and Megson, ugh!)

Think Alcaraz is banned, not injured.

NZog would be longer than 2 weeks.

Try the next 7 or so, right up until a nicely timed Wild Card 🙂

Lol, you should've seen it last year when all the games were being called off, it was hilarious. Tevez (C) vs Blackburn Got a Hat-trick I think, those with him went up, those without went down.
