Seven wins later and we have the final four in the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power. Three of the four remaining fantasy managers will win sizeable free bets, but one could well walk away with absolutely nothing (gooner dave is the only semi-finalist with a top-score prize so far). Let’s take a look at how the semi-finals line-up…

Semi-Final One

tippman Vs. DRP

tippman‘s Route To The Semi-Finals: 1st Rd – 67-66 Mark, 2nd Rd – 60-33 Pieman, 3rd Rd – 55-52 Daz, 4th Rd – 30-24 livnal, 5th Rd – 41-37 Unwilling player, Last 16 – 41-39 Manif, Quarters – 65-62 User.

DRP’s Route To The Semi-Finals: 1st Rd – 59-55 nomar, 2nd Rd – 50-37 deppy35, 3rd Rd – 54-43 coisou, 4th Rd – 33-30 Markus1, 5th – 42-41 Gazzamania, Last 16 – 60-55 Animons, Quarters – 70-61 DollyDaisy.

As if seeded, the first semi-final pits the highest-ranked fantasy manager in the semi-finals against the lowest-ranked. 2,682nd in the world DRP may be in a spot of bother here, having already taken taken a four-point hit, and with a couple of injury concerns. Perhaps those transfers have addressed his problems, we will have to see. As for tippman, well he looks well set this week having already got a couple of Bolton players in for their good run.

Semi-Final Two

The Von Vs. gooner dave

The Von’s Route To The Semi-Finals: 1st Rd – 67-64 Joe Mellor, 2nd Rd – 59-48 Gumby, 3rd Rd – 63-55 Duffman11, 4th Rd – 37-29 andy85wsm, 5th Rd – 39-37 Dksbananas, Last 16 – 51-43 BigRig, Quarters – 71-59 DaFoe22.

gooner dave’s Route To The Semi-Finals: 1st Rd – 74-54 skinnyfish, 2nd Rd – 60-55 jms, 3rd Rd – 60-55 beeduybe, 4th Rd – 29-22 Azfad, 5th Rd – 40-37 coot, Last 16 – 45-44 Back to Back Ballacks, Quarters – 75-56 sandgrounder.

Most of The Von’s and gooner dave’s big-hitters cancel each other out, apart from one key match-up. The Von’s Kevin Davies against gooner dave’s Carlos Tevez could hold the key in this tie. Having said that, how both fantasy managers deal with an injured Cesc Fabregas could also be the deciding factor.

So good luck to all four semi-finalists this week, and I’ll bring you news of how it played out next week.

You could do a lot worse than get Kolarov and Cahill.

Kolarov should be your number one choice I'd say.

    Hi Guys

With VDV as 50/50 I was thinking about putting him on the bench and selling either Adam or Nolan because Iam not 100% happy with them

Could you therefore please advise me on what transfer I should do this week

    Sell Nolan/Play Adam

    Sell Adam/Play Nolan

    Sell Both (4pt hit)

    Or

    Do neither and play both

    Many Thanks

I'm pretty sure Van Der Vaart will play. Last time, Harry gave him the final call on his fitness and he said he was good to go. It's sort of similar this time I think. He won't finish the game, but he'll play 75+ minutes.

Advise for this week please guys:

I've got Bramble and Fab injured, Brunt, VDV and Emerton doubtful (I think VDV will play though), Coleman under threat of being dropped, and Drogba and Carrol under threat of being snowed on. Simpson and Givet are two of my fit defenders, and I really want a new goalie. In the circumstances, 12 pt hit?

    Gives me:

    Hart (carson)
    Toure, Vidic, Coleman, (Givet, Simpson)
    Nani, VDV, Lee, Jarvis, (Emerton)
    Drog, Tevez, Carroll

Bent to come in for Carroll next week.

Alright guys, this is my brothers team and he asked me to ask you wise old beans for a bit advice!
    Carson Sorenson
Vidic Elmohamady L Young Dann Crainey
    Malouda Nani Nasri VDV Ferguson
    Varney Chamakh Drogba

The only league he is in is a head to head so I recommened to him to not take any big point hits, however his team sort of needs it!

    Cheers in advance

Tell him to play his wildcard. 😉

Chamakh needs to go soon, but other than that it isn't bad at all. Maybe Chamakh to Elmander, and then use the money to upgrade Elmo to Kolarov and Crainey to anyone other than Crainey.

With 2 of my mids out and all my defenders bargain basement my team is weak and could get worse if VdV doesn't make it.
But taking a points hit is pointless (literally) unless there's a good chance of pay back, i.e. the 4pts + whatever another who plays instead gets.
So who might repay me with 6pts+ d'ya think?
Gamst (doubt)? N'Zog? Bale? T.Cahill (have Arteta)? Nasri?

      It's such sloppy journalism.

Read the article, the headline has been pulled out of thin air literally nowhere does tevez talk about moving to Barcelona, nor does anyone else for that matter. To be honest i get a bit frustrated when people talk about these thigns like they're credible rumours.

The tevez tired stuff has been around for ages and i really can't see it having any impact on the pitch.

why? vidic is more of a goal threat but is less likely to get assists, evra plays further forward as well and is more of a differential?

Vidic picks up BPs from time to time Evra hasn't. Pretty much of a toss up though Fibbert. Good luck with whichever you choose. 🙂

vidic has always for some reason held the BP hex over evra. The judges hate him, probably something to do with him being french. Ive always had him, too expensive the year for me at the start of the season though

Vidic sees a fair bit of bonus love. And i think his potential for goals outweighs Evra's potential for points from playing higher up the pitch.

Not alot to pick between them though.

Bollox. Vidic is often overlooked for baps again and again despite being Mancs best player. He might get them the odd time if he scores, which is no different that any other defender in the game.

yeah Villa beating us is a good bet unfortunately...we're very vulnerable...the only downside to the bet is, it's Villa!

Snowing in Newport. Well-drilled Dragons pack to grind out an 18-12 win over Munster B.

    my joke of a defence:

    Konchesky, Coleman, Shawcross, Jara, Simpson.

Is it worth a points hit to get someone in (vidic?)?

    any suggetions if so? Cheers

Ar bugger it. I had my mind set on Fabregas -> Nasri last night and thought I would do it some time today, I am now having second thoughts but I don't know who to get in... Any suggestions anyone? Not MGP, He is coming in next week for me. Tim Cahill - No, I have Arteta already, Silva - Didn't get anything when they beat Fulham 4-1, worrying. Any other suggestions? My midfield at the moment is VDV Nani N'Zogbia Arteta Fabs.... Thanks.

Wouldn't surprise me to much for Arsenal to have a good game vs AV. Although I wouldn't worry about having Arteta and Cahill. Cahill being short term anyway

what are peoples thoughts on the following for a transfer?

Elmander (missed the train on this one I think)
RVP (will be eased in slowly)
Wazza (hardly back to his best yet and 2 hard games coming up, maybe a good thing)
Torres (plays for a poor team at that price but good fixtures / injury prone)

Is VDV worth the risk to bring in this week?
Already have 4 Chelsea-Newcastle players plus Fab, Elmo, and Coleman.
Looking at Nasri/Kuyt instead as 'safer' options (then get in VDV next week)
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers
