The penultimate results article for the third instalment of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup, sponsored by Paddy Power, brings you news of who has made the grand final and how they did it. Of the two fixtures, one was closely-contested and one certainly was not…

Semi-Final One

tippman 78 – 48 DRP

Easing through to the final this week by a handsome 30 points was tippman. Even without Dimitar Berbatov he would have done the business, thanks to a ballsy decision to captain Frederic Piquionne. A fantastic score (despite a minus two point return from Sylvain Distin), earns Mark’s-conqueror a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power, as well as a guaranteed £100 bet for turning up to next week’s final. That win for tippman shoots him up in the overall rankings to a season-high 4,759th. A welcome green arrow after five successive red.

Semi-Final Two

The Von 55 – 57 gooner dave

The second semi-final was a much tighter affair, with a combination of injuries and suspensions costing The Von a berth in the Grand Final. With a bench scoring a total of zero points, and transfers out accruing the same, a four-point hit was necessary for The Von. Unfortunately for him though, he was in the market for a defender in a week where every team conceded. Unlucky. Going through then is gooner dave, who will have to have the title of favourite as he is ranked 2,516th in the league.

So there’s two top-5k ranked fantasy managers in the Final, and that surely illustrates the calibre of performances required do well in this tournament, and whoever lifts the imaginary trophy next week will have truly earned it. So well done and good luck to both tippman and gooner dave. I’ll bring you a preview of the final tomorrow, as well a look at the 3rd place play-off.

Regarding the love for MGP on here I have a few points and want to play devils advocate to transferring him in....

-He is not very attacking at all, checking his opta stats he has 11 efforts on goal all season, less than half of alternatives Nasri, Nzogbia, Bale etc.

-2 of his 4 goals this season were over hit crosses from free kicks that luckily went over the keeper, the other he just stuck a toe out to someone elses shot.

-In his last 2 Premiership seasons combined he has score a total of 4 goals.

What are people hoping for from BB's decent 4 fixtures, an assist, maybe a couple of BP's at best?

As a replacement for VDV I think he is the worst of the obvious candidates.

    Discuss....

Plus he's only a 3-4 week stop gap till either Lamps/Gerrard/Fabs finally get fit and show some form.

If MGP can get a few assists or evn a goal in that time, Woot Mcgoot.

He is in brillant form from set pieces which is the most likely outlet for a BB goal.
His Freekick against Ireland was out of the top draw.

        Hey folks,

What are peoples thoughts on Lennon's prospects in the coming gameweeks and as a differential to the Balewagon with VDV out?

Also, what do you think in regard to Rafael holding onto the right back spot at Utd? Is he a viable cheaper alternative to Vidic? Don't fancy Ferdinand or Evra too much.

        Thanks muchly.

Lennon will let you down, same kind of player as arshavin.

Your decision on rafael, normally think he would be the right back, unless there are injured players coming back that i don't know about

Thanks. Undecided on both. Lennon could be a let down or he could suddenly have a hot run of form.

Rafael just a money saving option. Perhaps I should just stump up the cash for the main man.

I have Brunt, pretty consistent and central to most good things his team does. Bale is brilliant but that great long run of 2 points every week for ages is still fresh in my mind. Just have a sneaky feeling Lennon could have a good spell but who knows? Lennon is definately a gamble but one that could either really pay off or backfire hideously!

        Have done VDV -> MGP

I'm looking to do Hangeland -> Samba and Jags -> LIV defender. Looking at the fixtures, is it worth taking an 8pt hit and doing both this week? I am taking too many hits due to injuries.

If not, what do you lot recommend?

malouda: good call, but just can't afford him

n'zog is playing Begovic "the unbeatable" so he's a no for me.

Silva: I had him from the start of the season, and finally ditched him when balotelli's suspension ended. Two or three city players is my limit.

Dunn: too many injuries, hasn't rediscovered his form. MGP might be worth a shout

Brunt: Good call, he reminds me of Adams. I've never picked either so far 🙁

A.Cole, Terry, Johnson R, Dann, Crainey
        Nolan, Bale, Nani, Walcott, Lee
        Carroll, Chamahk, Gyan

Thinking about Bringing Bent for Gyan, Nasri for Walcott, Raphail for Crainey
Sunderland has an easy fixture I wonder why Steve Bruce brings Gyan of the bench

So lads, what games would we say are in doubt this weekend? I think London based games would be a doubt, we have over half a foot of snow where I am, (40-50 minutes from East London), and we are forecast to have another 5-15cm tonight (2-6 inches).

I'm from Ireland so i have no idea about London but i'd say the games there would be ok because most teams would have the underground heating. I think the only game in doubt this weekend would be Utd v Blackpool.

Blackpool is going to be one of the warmest (or, to be more accurate, least cold) places in England on Friday and Saturday, so provided they can get the pitch thawed out it should be Ok to play

Its not really about undersoil heating though. Its about the safety of the fans, getting to the stadiums, and safety within the stadiums, slippery stairs etc...

        What's the better option:

        Bent and Nasri

        OR

Tevez and Bale (or another midfielder up to 7.6)?

I've said it before and i'll say it again, I don't understand managers in this game.
Hugely invested players like Terry, Williamson, Elmo, Nolan, Fabregas, Gerrard, Albrighton and Arteta all out of action yet apart from VDV the 3 players with most transfers out are Drogba, Tevez and Elmander???

I can understand people ditching Drogba (although he's getting one more week for me), but Elmander and Tevez? I suppose that can only mean good for people who have them as long as they don't fall in price.
