Snow Joke – Bloomfield Road Clash Off

It’s official – Blackpool have postponed Saturday’s clash with Manchester United due to a frozen pitch.

There were discussions between Blackpool, Manchester United, the Premier League and Match Officials today and it was decided that referee Peter Walton would inspect the pitch. The official was reportedly concerned that certain areas of the surface would not thaw out in time for the planned kick off tomorrow.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand broke the news and vented his disappointment via his Twitter page…

Blackpool game tomorrow called off due to the frozen pitch, so gutted tweeps. Hope anyone who booked accommodation+hire cars gets their money back.

Earlier we reported how this would affect Fantasy Managers far and wide. A rush of team shuffling and transfers will now be expected prior to tomorrow’s Fantasy deadline.

We await a re-scheduled date for the game which will then give us the first double Gameweek of the season.

In light of the Blackpool vs Man Utd game being called-off,
another team to be wary of, in terms of a risk of their HOME games being cancelled due to snowy/icy weather conditions are Fulham. Fulham's Craven Cottage stadium does NOT have under-soil heating to melt the snow off the pitch.

I would advice to any fantasy managers to stay away from Fulham & Blackpool players in this winter period unless it's a double-gameweek.

  Disagree. In this context its absoutely worth having a Blackpool or Fulham player in your team. Make sure its someone who doesnt always start in your first 11 and just sits on the bench. Come the double gameweeks just roll them out and put them in your first 11.

Hello wiseguys!

I am seriously thinking 8 point hit, including two defenders - mad?
Thinking to put my defence in order for coming weeks:

Jara + Enrigue out, Samba + Kyrgiakos in - worth it? (rest of defence is shite, except kolarov)

And then also vdv out and nasri/gamst/nzog in with another hit.
Who do you think is best pick for rest of the year?

  I would go for Nasri out of those. Kyrgiakos in is a good shout going to do it myself, I wouldnt transfer Jara out as he is playing so I dont think its worth a hit

    Without seeing the rest of the team I would guess that those two defs are your low value guys (Jara/Enrique) and I don't see the reason for taking a hit. Can't do one transfer? That said, Samba and/or Kyrg are not bad to have at this time.

I Have Nani, VDV, Adam who wont play. I also have coleman and elmo who i need to get rid off.

Was thinking of doing Coleman to Kyrgiakos, Elmo to Foley for a 4 point hit. That would leave me able to field 11 players and I would also have sorted out my defence a bit.

Do you think I should also do VDV to Gamst-Pedersen/Brunt for an 8 point hit just in case someone else doesnt play?? Any thoughts

please excuse my language, but I brought in rooney to be my captain this week, but now I have to play 2 out of Rooney,Nani,Vidic and Adam.
Can't afford for any more games to be cancelled.

Only consolation is that I have a DGW to look forward to and a great prospect of a huge captain point haul from rooney if he's anything like that DGW last season.

    Liverpool has a nice run coming up. Just like Man U last year FF-wise in Dec-Jan (Evra-Val-Roo was a goldmine). Only difference is that Liverpool kinda sucks. But they could give a nice return (Kryg/?-Ger-Tor) if all are fit and playing.

  I have the same three and I'm going with Tevez.
  
  Bolton never keep clean sheets and their games are usually fairly high scoring (2-2 vs Utd, 4-2 vs Tottenham etc.). Tevez is a consistent performer and City need a win after drawing against Stoke.
  
  I still don't really see Nasri as a genuine captain option, although I did go for him a few weeks back at home to Birmingham. If RVP starts then he'll lose a fair few set pieces..
  
  As for Drogba, the last four times I've captained him, he's got 2 points every time. I won't be giving him the armband for a while now until he starts showing some genuine form and actually looks like he's interested again.
