It’s official – Blackpool have postponed Saturday’s clash with Manchester United due to a frozen pitch.

There were discussions between Blackpool, Manchester United, the Premier League and Match Officials today and it was decided that referee Peter Walton would inspect the pitch. The official was reportedly concerned that certain areas of the surface would not thaw out in time for the planned kick off tomorrow.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand broke the news and vented his disappointment via his Twitter page

Blackpool game tomorrow called off due to the frozen pitch, so gutted tweeps. Hope anyone who booked accommodation+hire cars gets their money back.

Earlier we reported how this would affect Fantasy Managers far and wide. A rush of team shuffling and transfers will now be expected prior to tomorrow’s Fantasy deadline.

We await a re-scheduled date for the game which will then give us the first double Gameweek of the season.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

i think this is the best week to take point hits if you want to. anyways, why does the FFScout think that balotelli will feature in this weekends fixture? I assumed that he will be rested. I dont know what kind of player balotelli is, whether he can play all the time, or is the kind of player who requires the occasional rest. cheers

Totti isn't a fan and to be honest I'm not 100% sold yet from my limited watching of Italian foorball. One to watch for sure but when you have Tevez as a partner it's not worth the risk as you should really pick him over Balotelli at the moment.

when i saw balotelli playing with tevez, he usually plays ahead of tevez and for 8.6 he is a steal. i already have tevez in my team. i was going to go for torres but liverpools midfield is pathetic. i'll wait till GW18 for gerrard and then get torres

Mancini has played balotelli in pretty much every game he hasnt been injured or suspended. That and they have played with 2 strikers in last 3 games..... Its either Balotelli or Jo

I have to transfer out Coleman. Got Foster and Hahnemann + Konchesky, Kolarov, Enrique and Vidic.

Already thinking of MGP, so I am not sure I want to bring in two Blackburn players at a time.

    Quite tough one, that.

So just been on the BBC website and it looks as though the Blackpool game is OFF.. damn!

Imagine there are a few people affected by this news including me, but good to hear it before the deadline at least and I'm about to go out so gotta make a decision quick. Was gonna captain Nani! Lol. So who to captain now? Nasri or Tevez.

    a or b

If you can field a poor starting XI this week is it worth taking hits to increase you points potential 'mI saying this as I think alot of people will be fielding weakened teams or taking 4-8 pts hits.

    My options,

    1) Sell Alex bring in Huth and play Brunt and Barton as my only Midfielders . No hit 11 starting players only.

    Or

    2) Sell VDV and Fabs and bring in Etherington and Nasri

    Leaning towards 1) Myself......

think 2 sounds like a more positive move, you might end up with 4 or 5 of your defenders only scoring 1-2 points.

Look how many goals there were last weekend, for instance.

Not really, I almost got him in over Nasri last week but pens swung it. Not everyone bases their decisions on what people say on here. He is the 5th highest scoring midfielder, 3rd now if you take Nani & VDV out of this weekend and the Opta stats are good.

Look at where he is in the mids table and that really should give you your answer.

He'll also probably be buzzing after yesterday's news re World Cup in 2018 too so he may be in inspired form tomorrow.

Guys, i asked this earlier but as I was in work I couldn't hang around to see any replies.

Got Nani, VdV and Fabs all out this week. Although Fabs is back next week (we think/hope) is it worth keeping VdV on the bench and downgrading Fabs to Nasri?

No point selling Nani for one week and VdV apparently may be back sooner than originally thought.

No, I'm not deluding myself. If you read the previous post I was alluding to I said that very thing about Fabs and the likelihood of him playing much even when he returns.

Hence the reason why I was wondering whether it was just easier to do Fabs to Nasri as a straight swap until next wildcard.

Dont forget that wenger will probably not start fabs next week. So assume he will be a regular starter in 2 weeks time. VDV will be out for longer though and i dont think Harry will give him much gametime in the last week of december (when he shall be returning to fitness) when teams play 3 games within 6 days. So VDV out imo

One good thing about this postponement (and other possible ones) is that it will be the excuse I have looking for to do Coleman > Kolorov for a 4 pt hit (assuming the City game looks OK

Already taken a 8 point hit but now considering Elmander to Bent for a 12 point hit. Thoughts?

I have Van der Sar, Albrighton, Nani and Adam all definitely out. Mignolet hasn't played in weeks. Coleman, Elmohamady and Boateng are all unlikely to start. Regret using my wildcard alrady!

So any unlucky people who had already got in Rooney/Berba/Nani this week?

It's actually really good for me, the majority of my rivals have quite a few Utd players and I just have Nani. With Jara who could have a decent chance of a cleanie coming in.

Have one free trade and in order to field a decent 11, will probably drop Adam for either MGP or Dunn. I'm leaning to Dunn at the moment, what are your thoughts, Dunn or MGP?

I would think about NZog but out of those two MGP is safer

I got him at 7.5 and sold for 8. I have a bad feeling about this one with the cold weather and lots of games over the December period.

Having been bitten on the bottom by continually risking VDV over the past few weeks, I reckon 'Arry will play it very safe with him when he does return... No regrets whatsoever about getting rid of him.

i dont think my 1st choice torres can do much with current liverpool midfield, so im risking it with balotelli. he was taken off at 70mins at midweek to probably allow him to play this weekend

Kolarov yes, the other 3 have doubts or will have very shortly. Not sure if Dunns hamstrings can handle the big freeze which is the only reason I'm not going for him.

I think im going arshavin over nasri. dunn is an injury risk but i dont mind that. i only need his points over the shortterm, i'll kick him out by the end of december.

Now thinking I'll do the below for a 4 point hit... with Nani & Vidic out alongside VDV & Arteta. Means Dunn would need to get 4 pts to justify the hit, instead of the usual 6+

    Elmo>Kolarov
    Arteta>Dunn

    Crazy or worth it?

If you can field 11 without that its not worth it, if not, and happy to risk Dunn, it is. Dunn BIG risk though...Im looking too
