Crack open your 2011 calendars early ladies and gentlemen, we’ve got the first double gameweek of the season plotted and in play.
Blackpool have announced today that their home fixture with Manchester United has been rescheduled to take place on Tuesday 25th January, placing the fixture firmly on the end of gameweek 24…
Blackpool will now see themselves face four home fixtures (BIR, wba, SUN, MUN WHM) in the space of four gameweeks which will undoubtedly attract renewed investment in the cheap wares the Tangerines offer, Charlie Adam to Luke Varney likely to be the key beneficiaries.
Manchester United travel to Bloomfield Road inbetween home fixtures against two of Birmingham’s teams (STK, tot, BIR, bpl, AVL) which will no doubt attract plenty of fantasy investors looking to pile on a title challenging side facing two games in a week – we all fondly remember Wayne Rooney’s recording breaking score of 32 at home to Hull and Portsmouth last year, he and the likes of Nani will be sure the see plenty of buys.
Be on the look out for a “Scouting the Doubles” article from the team closer to the time as well as be sure to keep an eye on the state of affairs in Blackpool. Given that Bloomfield road is the only stadium without undersoil heating in the Premier League it’s not beyond the realm of possibility we will see more postponements, and maybe even the same fixture getting delayed again.
For now however, we can revel in our first double of the season.
