Im Not Marshal Foch Im Not Marshal Foch

After three-and-a-half months out injured, Chelsea talisman Frank Lampard returned to the substitutes’ bench, and ultimately the pitch, during today’s London derby against Spurs. Whilst his game time was limited to 15 odd minutes it was refreshing to see the midfielders return from a football and Fantasy Football perspective.

Lampard hadn’t played since August when he underwent a hernia operation and then tore a groin muscle during his recovery. At first Chelsea looked able to cope without their goalscoring midfielder but performances have stalled and Chelsea have been looking a team in disarray.

Fans of the Blues will hope that Lampard’s return provides a fillip to the teams performances which during his absence have bordered on tragic. Considering that Chelsea have managed only 1 win in their last 8 matches in all competitions, any boost will be welcomed.

His inclusion on the bench was a surprise and the word from Carlo Ancelotti was that he was going to be short for the massive trip to Spurs;

“No, he’s not fit again. He’s out. I can say this with a smile because he trained well but it will be a very tough game against Tottenham and we didn’t have a test with him in a game.”

Usually Ancelotti is pretty candid and honest with his team selection calls so for Lampard to appear on the bench after these comments was a huge surprise. Was the Italian looking to provide a psychological boost to his players?

Unfortunately for Chelsea Lampard’s presence didn’t provide them with enough to get all three points at White Hart Lane – something they should have collected if it weren’t for Didier Drogba’s late missed penalty. One things for certain the miss from the Ivorian will surely see Frank Lampard back on spot kick duties.

Given the random nature of Fantasy Football this season and the lack of consistency amongst the so called big names and expensive players, the return of Lampard should create a nice differential for those players trying to find a way of clawing back deficits in their respective leagues.

If the midfield man can reach form of seasons past he will surely see his ownership rocket back up to the levels seen at the start of the season and during the past few years. A lot will depend on how Ancelotti eases him back into the team and on how Chelsea’s form improves, but a player who almost certainly guarantee’s goals and assists will be hard to ignore.

Im really fed up with Drogba and desperate to get rid before his price drops yet again.

Problem is who to replace him with . Have Caroll and Elmander (sick of him too)

Tevez , might not even play
Barlotelli a nutter who could be sent off any time
Van persie , still not firing on all cylinders
Chamack - could be replaced by van persie
Berbatov - risky buying fefore game tomorrow incase injury
    Rooney - same as above
Odmwinge - Might not recover in time
Bent - seems out of touch in the new formation
Defoe - not firing on all cylinders
Torres - even liverpool supporters are want him out
    Anelka- no good

    aNY IDEAS?

I suppose another .1 hit wont hurt too much , might actually be better to flick Elmander.

So annoying , if he had scored that penalty he would prob have got 12 points instead of two and no drop in price.

Today when Drogba missed that penalty I felt it was time to get rid but having calmed down I'm quite pleased to have him going into the xmas period. I think the 45 mins he played today he was dangerous enough..fair enough his goal was thanks to calimitous keeping but he seems to have the desire back.

I think Lampards return will benefit drogba and we will see increased returns over the xmas period.

Tevez has gone mad, Torres is misfiring and it's hard to tell as of yet with Rooney. Drogba's price keeps plummeting which is a deterrant but I really do think he will come good soon.

We've had our fair share of injuries already. How about Odemwingie out for a month yet we still drew with Man Utd, beat Fulham and only just lost to Blackpool with 9 men during that period. Also lost Olsson until New Year, our best defender by a country mile this season. Dorrans has been out the team for a while, and Mulumbu has missed a few games through suspension.

Shocking at the back, maybe but much better than most think on here, trust me, massive improvements since last time we were in this league.

Foster is one of the few reasons they have 18 points.
His 69 saves (tied for most with Green) this season have kept them in so many games...

You know you have attacking problems when your leading scoring has 4 goals and a defender has the second most.

Did you transfer Milijas in before he fell to 4.9?

Because I was looking at some things a couple of days ago, and saw that he fell in price after having a +ve NTI for the two weeks before and the actual week that he fell in.

He'd been above the threshold for ages on FT, but that price drop doesn't make any sense whatsoever to me.

it's fpl related and it's this season so yes of course it went against me. he had a positive NTI every day all week then i bought him on the thursday and he went down friday night. i guess he needed a certain number of owners to 'activate him' and once enough people bought him he suddenly qualified for a price rise/fall

I actually hate Wolves, not even just because their our rivals, I don't think I'd like them anyway. Hate their kit colours, their stadium is disgusting, the colour and the fact their is basically an athletics track around it. Their fans are known scum, bricking the windows of coaches against Notts County in the cup says it all.

Hang on, you can have a laugh at me for missing the point of SPOTY (i thought the disclaimer in the first sentence covered that - apparently not), but are you really suggesting that Becks hasn't done some serious good work for us?

Any failings of the bid are definitely not down to him.

That logic is akin to saying Terry can't have been good today because Chelea didn't win.

What from that possibly gives you the impression i said it was exclusively him that did the good work on the bid?

But where is the measure of "ton of good work he has done"

Thats my point. If you say we cant attribute any failing on his part rightly or wrongly how can you attribute praise.

Cos the only ones saying he did good are the media. Who aren't impartial . And the ones who mattered (The panel) didn t vote that way.

Wow, you can pick an argument from nowhere!

Basically i never qualified my praise, so there isn't a defined measure, partly because i don't know, partly because wherever you define it to be i'm confident the good work he has done (of which i'm confident there is some, if not how much) is more than any work Scholes has done.

The point is moot since i've since found out that's not what the awards are about.

It would make it clearer if that happened. I'd always thought the personality bit could be a factor, hence Gazza winning in 1990 when he was by no means the best performing sportsperson over the previous year.

              June

And did an interview Wednesday night saying Tevez was again contemplating leaving City for Home.

I believe the Journos who have been spot on thus far.

                    Journos have agendas?

The journo said this b4 the fact. Last week and its proven correct.

The show "off the ball" has a reputation for not allowing tabloid crap on it. They get journos from all around europe in who have good ties.

So ya thats a good source since it was proven correct.

Rather than "its about money" cos the daily fail reports it to sell papers.

coz that's how you present it here and you have done it before as well. I don't know whether you do it intentionally or not but you do often give your opinion on stuffs thats actually not your own but merely been influenced by other sources(other opinion, articles watever else). I'll give you an example, when we were discussing about De Laet and Tosic you never said what your personally think of them. You were like"well as Fergie hasn't played him although there were opportunities so I think he isn't good enough" not even mentioning how you saw them as players. That' what indicates to me that you often just give out your opinion basing on the jugdement of other powerful figures thinking that they must be right so even I wud be right if I use that. Except that you don't have any of your own and the one's you have like regarding Becks are totally wrong. Gdnite.

Yes, google for a history lesson if you need one. As this article points out, there is much mud being slung, including supposed demands from his reps for a 1-year contract extension in October. He is what he is - a money motivated little get. He is also a very talented footballer and when he's not throwing a strop he puts in 110%. Even the money won't keep him somewhere, where in at least the short-term, there is little hope of any real glory and glamour. Like many others today he has absolutely no affinity or loyalty to the clubs and fans he is employed by. He is the epitome of this sad state of affairs.

Any footballer in their right mind would choose their family and friends over a club they have spent just 18 months at.

It may be a stupid point but you know Tevez has no link to Man City beyond his current contract.
The days of loyalty to clubs were built when there was no bosman , very few foreign moves and very little player power
So ya those times have passed but they werent all built on "loyalty more so on a lack of power on the players part

Again if he was money motivated then he is in the best place to stay.

          Its really about the facts.
He is alone in Manchester working for Management he doenst respect.
His kids are growing up without him.
He cant speak english . His only friend he claimed (Mash) has moved to spain.

He can move to Argie, still play football and have all of the above or move to spain and hope he gets his family to move.

I hope he proves me wrong and moves back to Argentina - we all have to read between the lines of the various new sources available and take that and past events and form our own opinion. He had 2 years at United, 1 at WH, and signed a 5 year mega-money deal at City. 18 months in - after City spent a fortune to sign him, included all the overly complex 'ownership' etc. and he now decides he wants out, drawing on the family car. He's still a money grabbing whore in my opinion, though I'm happy to be proved wrong.

Hodgson is looking more like a character from The Wind in the Willows by the day.

As it is, I think Liverpool fans are being massive tossers towards him. He's had absolutely no time whatsoever, and they're already calling for his head.

And to think, some Liverpool fans actually wanted to keep Rafa.

Not calling for his head yet, he is not impressing one bit, the season is over so he has until then including the Jan window to convince me he is the one I want at the helm. Why everyone defends him so much is beyond me....saying that Gooners are loyal to a manager who brings them no recent success at all.

Yes there is football outside of England.

                    Deep breaths.

Is this where you look on Wikipedia and quote some 3rd rate International record and doing bugger all at Inter Milan except learn Italian. Whatever his 'record' is, right now Liverpool are playing terrible football, he has bought in some dodgy players and our top players look like they want out. For me, right now, he isn't improving us 1%.

Ketchup, I know his record. It doesn't really impress me to be honest. From where we were we could have attracted managers with real pedigree. Now we have a Scandanavian expert.

You cant change a team in 6 months.

Nah I didnt wiki him. Good one Ive watched him for years, Read books on him and his time in Sweden in the 80s and his innovations into the game.

Then watched him turn a host of small teams with no budgets into forces they thought were not possible. Both at club level and internatonal level and done it in different countries with different cultures and a host of differents styles of play.

You dont remember small Fulham going further than Liverpool in Europe last year or hammering ye at the Cottage?

No I just you like football and like to read on its development. Or is that so hard to believe?

And having lived in in Sweden heard abit of him there and after read books wrote about him and others in the 80's there including Sven and bob Houghton and on how swedish leagues produced some brillant teams competing at the top of european football in that period.

So what actually is everybody doing about Tevez? I can't honestly see him playing next week so surely we should get rid, no top strikers worth having though at the moment apart from Torres..

Don't have him. I have a strong dislike for the little get. Drogba is the better bet in my opinion as your big money forward, then Rooney, then Torres. I would have one plus 2 'value' strikers.

Hahaha just been looking on YouTube for Barton rightfully explaining to Torres that he thinks that he should alter his behaviour, no luck with that but did find a load of moaning koppites venting their spleen over the result.

The mentioned that a couple of months ago too, well yes he is a really handy player and hopefully it would be Ameobi that makes room for him. Donovan, Ben Arfa and Gutierrez supporting Carroll with Barton and Tiote prowling in the midfield - oooh that'd be nice. I'd say Donovan would prefer Everton though surely?

It was basically Robbie Fowler v Graham Le Saux, but a bit less obvious. And without the majestic elbow to the (smack)head that followed.
