So Sam Allardyce was sacked? That’s odd. Onto bigger and better things undoubtedly for all; and to cheer us up from this solemn news is none other than a top of the table clash between Manchester United and Arsenal. Perfect Monday evening entertainment.

United revert to their 451/433 formation which has been a success in recent games against Arsenal, five goals in his most recent game isn’t enough for Berbatov to convince Fergie to alter his tactics. Everyone’s favourite tongue teaser Wojciech Szczesny starts in goal for Arsenal as his compatriot Lukas Fabianski fails to pass muster, Cesc Fabregas is only good enough for a place on the bench. Teams in full are…

United XI: Van Der Sar; Rafael, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra; Fletcher, Carrick, Anderson; Nani, Rooney, Park

Arsenal XI: Szczesny; Sagna, Koscielny, Squillaci, Clichy; Song, Wilshere; Nasri, Rosicky, Arshavin; Chamakh

Whether you are a red or a red, or a neutral, the Dugout Discussion will be open for the evening to take in this battle in full flow.

I'm baffled to how the highest scorer came to pick Nolan, Barton and captain Carroll. Fair enough it was Liverpool, but still!

There's two and a half million people playing, of course at least one person will have decided to play all three and captain Carroll. Even if they decided this in October and haven't touched their team since.

Seriously though... If you had actually spent the time to look at his teams' history, you would have noticed that he started in GW12, has made absolutely no transfers, and has captained Andy Carroll from the beginning... That he got the high score is just a mixture of luck and coincidence...

I know you must think it's cool to point these things out, but it just makes you look silly if you don't do your research first...

i blame rooney for our sadness.

1)if he scored, nani would have got assist and more bonus.
2)song wouldnt get any bonus due to 2 goals being scored against.
3)this would mean utd defence would get at least 1 bonus

Finally lost my head to head by 2 points. That 4 point hit hurt me, but at the same time I watched the game and I was pretty sure that was an assist by Nani. I know you have discussed it here but the deflection was not that significant to not award him the assist. Anyway, I lost because of that assist but he is the one to blame and only for losing that golden opportunity. Anyway, good luck next week!

I'm sorry but the deflection was huge, almost like a 90 degree deflection. Nani was SHOOTING at goal, and the ball deflected across goal almost like a cross would have.

You're only saying that it looked like a close assist, because there was a small gap between the ball leaving Nani's foot and being deflected. If the ball had travelled further you would have seen clearly where the ball was heading and then noticed that the deflection changed the direction in a big way.

Yeah I had Fletcher too at shorter odds though, both deserved yellows Clichy not so much for the handball but for the first challenge he did and then he did a few more fouls so surely deserved one. Lesson learned, not betting on cards with old Baldy reffing again.

I'm sure I'm about the 10 millionth person to ask this but how did the interviews go/ are going? I think the Oxford process sounds way more intense than Cambridge fwiw. Ha, no worries. I had two this morning, which went pretty well as far as I could tell! And I have one tomorrow morning at a different college.

Yeah, I have to stay here for 3 nights, from Sunday afternoon to Wednesday afternoon, whereas the people I know applying to Cambridge have to stay there for one night max.

It's fine though, it's pretty fun here, as you can probably tell by me being incredibly anti-social and sitting in my room on my laptop!

The amount of time at uni I wasted on the internet (wasting time, not doing research) was obscene, so think of it as good pratcise for uni life. What college are you at? Got a couple of school mates at Pembroke and Balliol.

Only went to Oxford once (to Trinity College which is the sister college of my one at Cambridge). It looks a lot nicer than Cam to be honest on the whole; an actual city as opposed to a glorified town.

            Good luck tomorrow.

St Catherine's, hoping to read Maths! I looked round Trinity college actually, and it's probably one of the best looking colleges. The only reason I didn't choose it was because I overheard a current undergraduate saying that it's not very sporty, which is a big no no for me.

What course did you study at Cambridge?

Biological Natural Sciences. Graduated in evolutionary biology in June and putting the degree to good use by currently bumming around at home!

I went to Churchill which actually looks a lot like St Cats in Oxford, though slightly uglier.

If you've had a few interviews now then you know what to expect, and maths interviews may well by slightly different to science ones, but just try to remember that if the tossers give you a seemingly ridiculous question remember they just want to see your thought processes; just try to work your way through logically piece-by-piece and tell them your thinking as you do so. Often there is no right answer their necessarily looking for, just valid reasoning

Nasri came good last week but timmy cahill restored normality this week! all the potential captain choices came up short this week so not to worried about it..

Nasri two weeks ago 🙂 but that's 1 in about the last 10 gws. Drogba > Torres (c) looks highly likely for me this week - it's not what he's done to date but what he's going to do in the future (he says trying to reassure himself!)

I don't have a site, but I'm happy with totalFPL dream team, as well as with applebonkers orphanage for differential picks.

And no need to get picky on me for pointing out what's obvious. People who make those picks are amongst top 2k global, so it can be easily perceived as poor advice on purpose. I don't think that's the case, but these picks just need to get better soon to stay at least somemwhat relevant.

Well what can i say, a disappointing game to watch, both sides were pretty poor and the match was settled by a brilliant header from that unflushable turd Park. We lacked steel again, shock. Well done Utd (that pains me.)

True that! I thought it was going to be a much better match to watch, with goals, or at least a few attempts! Cracking header, can't argue with that. Sczeney looked quality though.

Utd weren't much better to be fair. They just had once chance and took it. Anderson could have scored aswell, but other then that it was a game of few chances. We desperately need some character though.
