The Carlos Tevez saga took a new twist this evening with City boss Roberto Mancini uttering his first words on the matter since the situation developed on Sunday.

In a very positive statement, Mancini seems convinced that there is still hope of Tevez remaining at the club…

“If Carlos is unhappy, and he’s scored ten goals and played very well, then I hope that he’s unhappy like that all season! But I don’t think he is really unhappy. He can change his mind.”

Mancini goes on to express his desire to keep the striker at Eastlands – again with plenty of positivity…

“Do I want him to stay? Absolutely. He has a contract, and he is our player. It’s my belief that Carlos will stay with us, I think that he will continue to play for us.”

Mancini confirms that he will meet with Tevez on Friday and it appears that the Everton clash on Monday is very much on the agenda…

“I will see him Friday morning. I will say ‘good morning’, and then we will talk. It’s important that we speak, because we have a game with Everton on Monday and other very important games this month.”

There’s no doubt that this latest development comes as a huge positive for Fantasy Managers. Clearly Mancini is set to go all out to persuade Tevez to stay and, from this statement, it seems highly likely that Mancini will look to select the striker against Everton on Monday.

It will be interesting to see how Mancini approaches the issue of the club captaincy but again, tonight’s statement offers such a positive front, it seems possible that Tevez could even keep the City armband.
We can only await further developments; there’s likely to be plenty more to come.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Here’s my squad, two freebies this week but will only use one I think 3.4m in bank:

    Foster Robinson
    Ridgewell Jags Toure Elmo Jara
    Nani Malouda Nasri Adam N’Zogbia
    Drogba Elmander Carroll

I plan to keep Malouda til the WC unless VDV looks sharp and fit again, also gonna wait it out with Elmo this week, if he’d not playing then I’ll bring in Onuoha.. Next week might look at upgrading Ridgewell to Vidic..I feel there’s a bit of freedom with the impending WC in January, can always fix things then if need be.. Thoughts? Cheers

I'm not sure who to bench this week. Any opinions?

    Foster / Carson
    Vidic / A Cole / Baines / Coleman / Kolarov
    Jarvis / Brunt / Nani / Kuyt / Cahill
    Tevez / K Davies / Carroll

Right now, I'm leaning towards benching Carson, Coleman, Cahill and Carroll.

Play both Carroll and Foster. I don't understand why so many people on here don't like playing players off against each other. Ok, it means that you are unlikely to be getting all eleven of your players in that week all scoring 5+ points, but then how often does that happen anyway? You don't need everyone to have a great game to have a good gameweek, most scores of 70+ in a gameweek still have three or four players that didn't do the business and that's fine.

Plus if you end up having to play players off against each other, it at least increases the chances that one of the two will score ok points. In your case for instance, if Carroll doesn't score, then Foster may have kept a clean sheet as a result of this. Or if Foster doesn't keep a clean sheet, then Carroll could easily be involved in the goal.

Wow not being involved in the arguments on these sites makes them so much more entertaining. Need to remember that in the future. DB, you remind me of an Arthur C Clarke quote:

Two possibilities exist: Either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.

For Db it's: Either he always thinks he is right in every single discussion OR he's the master of winding people up. Both are equally terrifying.

AP put whatever you think of me aside and just see this one tiny little thing.

Atttila linked 3 articles claiming the racsist riots in moscow included Football fans. Not one report ive read today says anything about todays riots and some organised effort on the part of some football fans

Nor coincidently does any of the articles he links claiming they do.
The telegraph mentioned "football fans" not once despite the lazy headline

The 3rd one is about a football fan who died last week for crying out loud

I actually think he just googled football riots and linked 3 articles.

At the risk of repeating myself your love for negative attention is epic.

"The emotionally immature person has low levels of self-esteem and self-confidence and consequently feels insecure; to counter these feelings of insecurity they will spend a large proportion of their lives creating situations in which they become the centre of attention. It may be that the need for attention is inversely proportional to emotional maturity, therefore anyone indulging in attention-seeking behaviors is telling you how emotionally immature they are."

So now i didnt try to be "the centre of attention".

I'm not really sure either, but to be honest, I look at the 'feel' of most fixtures and what I think the outcome is likely to be. I don't need to look at numbers to know that Man U playing West Ham, (for example), should be a victory for the Reds, and so it makes sense to back their players.

Obviously a lot of fixtures, particularly amoung the teams in the middle of the table, are tough to call, but then that's what sets out the better managers I guess.

I've taken a hit for the last 2 weeks (call it inexperience) but i'm finally pretty happy with my team.

    Reina (Carson)
    Coloccini, Kyrgiakos, Cole (Dann, Jara)
    Nani, Bale, Cahill, Barton, MGP
    Carroll, Torres (K Davies)
I’m thinking of Berba in for Davies from GW19 but only have 1.2M in the kitty. Should I save my transfer this week and swap Cole for Coleman next week to free up cash?

Right, this is the last post where I will engage with the attention seeking Dbronaldo, and apologies for the length as I will cut and paste directly from the articles so there can be no mistakes:

MOSCOW — Russian football fans and ultranationalists ran riot in the centre of Moscow on Saturday, when a demonstration against the death of a fan descended into violence that left 13 people hospitalised.
Thousands of fans, supported by members of far-right groups, gathered in Manezhnaya Square near the Kremlin for the unauthorised protest, with some shouting slogans such as "Russia for Russians" and performing Nazi salutes, according to an AFP photographer.
They were protesting the death of Yegor Sviridov, a Spartak Moscow fan who was shot in the head last Saturday during a fight with men from the Russian Caucasus.
The incident has exposed the close links between Russian extremists and football supporters, and is a major embarrassment for the country so soon after it won the right to host the FIFA World Cup in 2018.
(from http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5iLAfnvy7Ai6PdVET3mwBO8coyadw?docId=CNG.52397de5df64c519397daac1afa54385.981 this article is four days old)
Now that seems to suggest that football has something to do with it no?

    Next one
MOSCOW, Russia — A surge of far-right nationalist violence is sweeping through Russia, leaving at least two dead and dozens injured in recent days as soccer hooligans led by neo-Nazi groups capitalize on a wave of discontent.
On Dec. 11, at least 5,000 men and women flooded Moscow's Manezh Square, just outside the Kremlin, flashing Nazi salutes and shouting racist slogans. They savagely beat passersby who looked as though they were from central Asia or the Caucasus, Russia’s mainly Muslim southern region. At least 20 people were hospitalized. One man is reported to have died from his injuries.
(that is from http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/russia/101213/soccer-hooligans-far-right-violence this article was published Dec 14th)

Again this uses the phrase 'soccer hooligans led by neo-Nazi groups'

    Another one
Rumours of Wednesday's standoff spread across the internet following a weekend riot outside the Kremlin involving about 5,000 football fans and elements of the far-right.
Scuffles erupted outside the station, which is popular with traders from the predominantly-Muslim Caucasus region, as hundreds of riot police rounded up and detained young men and teenagers shouting racist slogans.
Biryukov said "several air guns, knives, clubs, and and stun guns" were confiscated. He added that police patrols had been stepped up throughout the centre of the city.
(from http://english.aljazeera.net/news/europe/2010/12/20101215235846390102.html this article is from today)

Again it directly states '5000 football fans and elements of the far right'

And no dbronaldo I did not start this, I posted 'are you for f*cking real?' to a post you placed which compared the riots in Moscow now with the ones in Bradford in 2001. I still think that the World Cup in Russia is a dangerous business, they have time to address their difficulties however and now the decision is made I hope that the World Cup is a success, however would I prefer the World Cup in England - of course absolutely. Do I think corruption was involved with the awarding of the world cups to Russia and Qatar? Of course absolutely.

I refuse to be baited any more, these articles all link the recent violence to both far right lunatics and football supporters. I wont be responding to any more of your attempts to keep this argument going, I just wanted to clarify that all of the above articles (just three found on google with 5 mins work) link football hooliganism to the violence, clear as day.

Thats it. For me the arguing with you is completely finished, it is dull and boring for me, you and I'm sure anyone else that uses this site.

But look at what he's acheived in his long career, emanating fellow Welsh legend Ryan Giggs with all those titles he got at Man U, after leaving Spurs due to that huge row with Harry, he joined Fergie at Old Trafford and has never looked back. He's still got what it takes, despite having no pace anymore, and at his price of 6.4M, he's a steal! 🙂

But your linking again the riots over a football fan last week not what happend today
Yes last week a fan was killed and there were riots but a moscow based fans group

Today in Russia there was a planned demostration by some natualists in russia not football fans but extremists.
Other groups from the Caucasus decided to comfort these groups

My issse you are trying to insinuate this was a football related matter today when it wasnt according to all the press. It was done in the name of racism.

Again just to ask you your 3 links in this article are to do with a football fan being killed and the riots about it from last week.

Not what happened in moscow today and the ultra naturualists who planned a demonstration today and then it turned to violence when more extremists from the caucasus region.

Do you not see everything in your comment is from December 11?

We are arguing about two different things. My argument with you kicked off when you posted that quote, I then took umbrage and posted the links showing RECENT racist football related violence (its this week rather than 2001), I am not, and havent been on about today (well yesterday).

Then we are mixed up. But everyone was talking about todays violence (yesterdays) and the world cup etc.
Im not some crazy bigot fool out to show up or anything but it honestly seemed you were trying to link a football related violence to what happened today which every news media outlet says it wasnt. It appeared you were just trying to throw sh*t on the news story today and link it to football

As i said either you were "mistaken or lying".
Sorry as we seemed to have got mixed up, i wasnt trying to defend it or any kind of violence anywhere but you can see from what i said above what it looked like you were doing (trying to show up any footie violence and link to every social issue)

And finally the quote again today was from a footie journo who worked in russia defending the fact that in every country there is violence and racism and people shouldnt try to use it as a dig to the world cup.
