The Carlos Tevez transfer saga is without doubt playing havoc with the minds of Fantasy Football Managers. In the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game Tevez boasts the third highest points tally and is owned by a whopping 24.3% as a result. Beyond that existing ownership, plenty of others will have been eyeing up Tevez as an option with City entering a kind run of opponents over the forthcoming Gameweeks. In the light of the weekend’s events however, there’s every chance that Tevez will not be seen in a City shirt again this season then, let alone in Monday’s fixture with Everton at Eastlands.

The initial signs are positive however. The want-away striker apparently smiled his way through training and the latest reports suggest that he is happy to continue playing for City for the time being. His adviser Kia Joorabchian has recently stated…

“Carlos has never said he is not going to play so those rumours are rubbish. He will play if picked and 100% do his best. He feels that is important every time he puts on the shirt.”

In the main then, his Fantasy owners are surely set to hold firm, at least until we hear an official statement from City. That’s when we are due to get Roberto Mancini’s take on the situation; his view will be crucial.

It’s still not 100% certain that the City boss will select Tevez. Mancini has favoured a 4-5-1 for much of the season and 20 year-old loose cannon, Mario Balotelli, has all the potential to become City’s principal attacker. Plus of course, City won convincingly at West Ham last time out, without a suspended Tevez.

If the Argentinian’s Eastlands departure is confirmed, Mancini will surely have to decide on who to appoint as his new captain as Tevez’s stance will do little for dressing room morale. Whether Mancini opts to make a replacement signing in the January transfer window remains to be seen, but reports suggest that the likes of current FPL joint top scorer Andy Carroll, Atletico Madrid’s Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and a swap deal for either Karim Benzema or Gonzalo Higuain are all firmly on City’s radar.

Tevez possible destination is another matter, with his most obvious port of call, Real Madrid, reportedly unable to afford the Argentine, it is unclear where he will end up. Reports generally seem to think that he is destined for La Liga, although an Argentinian journalist, who is reportedly close to Tevez’s family, has stated that a move to another Premier League club is not outside the realms of possibility…

“Carlos is unhappy with Manchester City and some of the relationships in the club – he is not unhappy with England, with the Premier League. He says he is tired, he is mentally and physically tired, but the impression he gives is that he will not give up football – and his motivation is not money. Carlos will join another club, and although Spain offers him another option – one where his family may be prepared to move nearer to him – he could stay in England.”

We’re informed that Roberto Mancini will hold talks with Tevez on Friday and that will be the next major development in the saga. Until then we can expect further speculation and conflicting reports from all corners of the media. The only certainty right now is that Tevez remains a crucial player – not only for City but also for many Fantasy Managers.

Tevez will just be more determined to prove a point, seems a dangerous time to let him go.

Then again, I don't have him, so uh, yeah everyone sell.

same here chamakh, i guess i wont decide till friday

not sure why mancini is leaving the talks dangerously close to the weekend, but im sure he knows what hes doing!

What i dont understand is who in management hes so upset with, his announcement said its not sheik and its not mancini, tevez is worth so much to the club they would probably get rid of anyone else to keep him!

Apparently he wants to sign for city.

"...sent a letter to a senior executive at Eastlands earlier in the season, expressing his admiration for the club and his gratitude for their efforts to buy him in the August window."

They would probably buy him anyway even if Tevez didn't leave.

    My team.

    Foster
    Dann Kolarov Vidic (Bardsley, Williamson)
    Brunt Cahill Nani Nasri (Adam)
    Elmander Torres Tévez

If tevez is picked for monday he will perform his usual best, no doubt about it. He is only loyal to himself and is born with a natural never die attitude wich no off field matters could disrupt. He is a simple man from the shantytowns, seeking the best possible returns moneywise for the job he is doing, it is in his blood, ever since he left his "beloved" boca juniors for new rich corinthians in brasil. He pushed too hard for a better contract in MU and ended up in City as a result. It's all about the money. City offered him 5 millons to stay but he turned it down in a game to land the 300 a week contract he is after, and seemingly lost. But he will play on, pretty much unaffected. Its just a game, afterall.

Really struggling with who to bench this week:

    One of Tevez, Carroll, Elmander
    Nani, N'Zogbia, Malouda, Nasri, Cahill.

I'm assuming Tevez will play - if he doesn't no decision to make which is a relief.

Got Nani benched at the mo but is benching the highest scoring player really a good idea?

Cahill, Carroll and Elmander have both got tough looking away games as well but they seem to perform well in these type of games. Malouda has been a bit rubbish lately so maybe I should bench him?

Nasri and N'Zogbia both have easy home games so I want them to play. Any thoughts?

All this news on Tevez is overkill!

I wouldn't mind a post from the writers about the impact Steve Kean is likely to have at Blackburn... I'm reading that he is more attack minded, much to the pleasure of the new owners...

Should we expect a new post on this before the gameweek begins?

So do you think Malouda's chances of near 90 minutes will be very much effected, with Lampard nearer to a full return?

My Fri/Sat transfer is still close on being: Malouda > Yaya Toure.

If Tevez pulls his finger out then I could also downgrade Drogba > Tevez and bring Lampard in for GW20.

AP, I'm gonna remake my point from the last page (in hopefully a less confrontational manner).

The reason I don't think the Tevez saga is ripe for banter and putdowns by Man U fans is that these players are taking the piss out of us all. Whether you support one or the other, you're made of the same stock, realised you liked football and took a team. Two of the most highprofile players in the country have held their club ransom and I'm sure will both get away with it. Man U fans forgot after one game, Man C fans will too, and it would happen at any other club.

This is a perfect point for the majority of fans to say, this is enough, we pay your wages. This pisstake should be above rivalries. But it won't happen because it's easier to just point and laugh. That's both ways, not a dig at Man U. Like the Manics said, if you tolerate this, your children will be next.

If that makes me Mary Whitehouse, so be it.

I agree. However, I don't think the agents' role in all of this should be underestimated - they make a lot more money from a player moving club than from an improved contract, so it's in their interests to agitate for a move.

The players employ the agents, OK, but I still blame the agents as much as the players.

I love the way players like Scholes and Neville (I think) don't bother with an agent, more players need to follow their lead.

I do agree with MnL that above all these incidents have more than questioned the autority that club is supposed have over it's players and how dirty scums like the agents are underminig this and the players are buying into that shit. However incase of Man city i don't feel any pity for them NOT because they are a rival club but It's bcoz of clubs like city that the players these days have found a base to threaten their clubs or improve their positions in negotiations and the fact that if not the same but something similar is happening to city is indeed an irony. However you won't find me taking digs at them.

I doubt the United fans are that stupid to be taking pleasure out of the Tevez situation when you consider how Rooney bent the club over and took what he wanted and with how Ronaldo made Fergie get on his knees to get him to stay for one more year in which he stropped and disrespected the club for the whole season.

      Give them more credit.

That's fine. However MnL, you continue to post negatively regarding the the points i make. A classic example being last night regarding the blatant hypocrisy of Wenger and his faithful servants about Utd being a dirty team, even though facts clearly state the contrary. You think it's appropriate to pick out my posts for this criticism, yet i didn't see you doing the same when CP and Mfaulk were repeatedly brandishing Fletcher/Scholes with the hacking stick for weeks on end. If you are going to take the moral high ground, then at least keep it consistent.

You'll have to remind of what I said. All I can remember is you quoting the number of fouls each team had made and I made a joke about you keeping count, because that debate had been done so much. If I made any comments about anyone being particularly dirty then please link me.

I don't bookmark things that annoy me, so you'll just have to take my word on it. Just by what you posted shows it a little though "debate done to death" er, no it isn't. At least it isn't until the filthy swines admit to it. I could go back and link to a thousand posts where rival fans are baiting either me, or someone else and you've said nothing.
