I presume that Manchester has largely avoided the bad weather so? It seems to be from word coming out of the City camp that they are doing everything in their power to make sure the game goes on, why? Well because they can go top briefly, so they have alot to play for. Is it being overly cynical to say that surely the same situation existed at Stamford Bridge over the weekend, where alot could have been done by the club to make the game happen? but they didn't have as much to play for, in that it didn't suit them to play the game with United coming off the back of a victory over Arsenal, and things still a little shaky in the Chelsea camp.

Was reading the Guardian and Daily Mail over the weekend ( a lovely blend of fact and fiction) and they seemed to be querying the "need" for the Chelsea game to be called off when it was called off, and wondered why, when the picture looked clearer on Sunday morning, and indeed a bit better,the game was called off on Saturday when it was. The reports seem to indicate that the club does not make the decision however, and that under EPL rules, only the local police can call the game off, is this true? If so, then my cynicism is in folly and Chelsea didn't have a say in the matter.

Is should also point out that I am in Cork, Ireland, and it is very snowy here, don't know what the picture is like in London, so I am totally talking out of my hat in this regard.

  I would guess that if the police or local authority say the game should be off then the club can't really overrule. And if they could, they would be setting themselves up for some mighty big lawsuits if there is an incident (they'd probably lose a case even if someone sued them for a sprained ankle).

  Discussions take place between the Police, local authority and the club. I'm guessing if one of those parties object to the game taking place, then it gets postponed. Rather than Chelsea making the outright decision, I think it was convenient for them to err on the side of postponement.
