We’ve managed to eek out one final fixture in this heavily truncated gameweek as Manchester City play host to Everton. Carlos Tevez has withdrawn his transfer request, could my prophecy of Friday morning ring true? Chance would be a fine thing.

City then, unsurprisingly, recall their captain and Aleksander Kolarov to the line-up follow suspension (and a hefty portion of drama), while James Milner replaces Nigel De Jong who himself is suspended. David Moyes meanwhile makes two changes as Leon Osman returns from injury to deputise for Stephen Pienaar who picked up a niggle in the week, while also giving another face a chance to shine up front with Victor Anichebe forcing Saha, Yakubu and Beckford to the bench after weeks of paltry returns. Teams in full are..

City XI: Hart; Zabaleta, Toure, Kompany, Kolarov; Milner, Toure Yaya, Barry; Silva, Tevez, Balotelli.

Everton XI: Howard; Neville, Jagielka, Distin, Baines; Coleman, Rodwell, Fellaini, Osman, Cahill; Anichebe.

As per, the Dugout Discussion opens it’s doors once again while we wrap up for the last match prior to Christmas.

It is a bit crazy really.

I had the feeling United were doing a bit so-so basically for the whole season, and now they're top with a game in hand.

I suppose it is what special teams do.

You'd think people would know better than to write off Machester United like that.

I'll be the first to admit that I've said that the United of this season look a bit weaker than the United of previous seasons though. Right now it seems I was just wrong.

i agree its almost 100% luck this week, but still they cant have just voided the points people got from this weekend from the 6 teams that did play.

It's a daft suggestion as we know the rules that you could even have a gameweek with 1 game. The rules should be looked at but it cant be amended now.
Connor your last sentence in nonsense. There nothing to stop all the beneficiaries of this gameweek getting the double gameweek players in.

You talking about the rumours of a United take-over?

If you are, I remember saying on here to the people that said all the debt we are accruing to win trophies now, will come back to bite us an ruin us, that we could easily be bought by someone and the debt would be wiped. In the history book no one will care about the debts, all they'll look at is the achievements.

            Think he's talking about City.

Does sound to me as if you take lightly on the debts, which I find a bit curious. It's certainly not a situation you need to be in (for a club of that size) and one you I'd want to get out of in other ways than just hoping to be bought by someone who may or may not be a good owner.

Yeah I guess I do take them lightly compared to most but, as arrogant as it sounds, I think there will always be a way out for the Glazer's, in the form of a new buyer capable of wiping the debts.

There's no getting around it, United are arguably the biggest footballing brand in world football (along with Madrid).

I suppose you're right. I just wish there was a better way out for the club, and every other club in a similar situation. There are plenty.

And don't get me wrong, I don't care the slightest for "fairness" in the sense that some teams will always generate more money than others, but I like the idea that clubs should be run with the money they generate - so if they lose money every year they would have to save money somewhere.

I'd say 25 attempts on goal could be classed as having a proper go. City were sloppy in first half hour, and a few unlucky decisions but noone can say they were playing defensively!

They kept four at the back the whole time when Anichebe got S/O, most of those attempts were speculative shots from outside the area, they only really had 3 or 4 proper chances.

I didn't watch the game but the report from people who did was that Elmander looked shocking throughout. I'll be keeping him in my team for another week though, pretty much spent up so no real choice.

Nani seems far more sane as a captain choice.

I watched that game and I though Bolton - apart from a couple of bright moments at the end of each half - were poor, or at least Sunderland made them look poor. They couldnt keep possession, passing and shooting was off. Klasnic came on and looked like he was drunk - had two excellent chances near the end.

Me. Tevez will start scoring soon enough, Carrol stays as long as he keeps scoring, and as for Drogs, I've had him from start and kept this long so still persevering.

I like Rafael as a player and an FPL prospect this season. He's improved much.

I'm also VERY worried about his age at a stage of a season where there are so many games. I like players who play 90 minutes every game.

      One to monitor.

I just hope that their lack of depth doesn't work against them, or when the transfer window opens all their higher profile players don't quickly run to higher paying clubs.

Would love for Blackpool to finish mid table this season, would make the league a bit better a place... Especially if Man City somehow finished below them.
