Charlie Adam finally returned to action this weekend and was once again influential in a Blackpool performance at Man City that won them further plaudits.

Having been denied appearances by postponements and a belated one-game ban, Adam is now firmly back on our radar at an opportune time.

The postponed games have created a backlog of Bloomfield Road fixtures that now makes Blackpool players all the more attractive in Fantasy Football terms. With three double gameweeks of home matches coming up (BIR & LIV, wba, SUN & MUN, WHM, eve, AVL & TOT) and favourable opponents such as West Ham at home, Ian Holloway’s men present some alluring options.

Charlie Adam looks to be the number one target to consider amongst Ian Holloway’s assets…

In the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game the Scot has already notched up 77 points this season. As well as having the potential to find the back of the net (3 goals) and set-up teammates (4 assists). With Adam dominating set-plays for the Tangerines, he always carries the promise of potential returns.

Adam is also charged with some serious Bonus Points magnetism and has managed to grab 25 so far this term, the highest in the game with his latest maximum gathered in the defeat to City. Our Members’s OPTA stats clearly show Adam to be amongst the most influential players in the league in terms of “touches†and “passes†and it’s this presence that continues to hoover up the Bonus. There’s no reason why this pull should diminish over the frenzied Blackpool schedule, particularly if Holloway’s side can go on defying the odds and earning points.

Adam’s ownerships has understandably been plummeting in recent weeks and he now has a current FPL coverage of 12.1%. Combine that with a valuation of just £5.4 million and Adam looks like a reliable cut-price choice to compliment your more costly and explosive midfield options.

As the cold snap seems to be momentarily ceasing and Bloomfield Road finally thaws out, now appears to be the ideal time to pick a rested and rejuvenated Charlie Adam; a player who has helped shape Blackpool into this fearlessly entertaining side that everyone has developed such a soft spot for. Certainly, if the current Captain Poll results are any indication, Adam is in big demand as we enter Blackpool’s first double fixture against Birmingham and Liverpool. He currently dominates the poll with 44% of the votes so far.

    Why all this mad panic to get rid of Kolarov? Yeah he got subbed on 57mins or something but that was unlucky, and yes he may have underperformed against Blackpool but his stats still suggest he is a good FPL prospect.

            The thing is, Phillips is fast, very fast and caused Sunderland the same sort of problems the week before but I've not been too impressed with Kolarov recently. It only took Mancini 12 minutes to realise he wasn't up to it as I think Philips only came on at the start of the 2nd half.

        You don't have to be a good defender to be a good FPL option, just look at Glen Johnson last year!

        Get rid of him if you want, but don't complain when he bags a goal, assist, cleanie.

      he did look laboured and Matt Philips was strolling past him like he wasn't there, he was miles too slow so could suffer as a result if Mancini thinks he's not up to it. I was pretty surprised how easily he was getting left for dead.

      like his red card this was an unlucky one-off. until he gets dropped i can't see why a 5.7 man city defender who takes set pieces and gets forward a lot isn't very appealing

        Agree. They spent more than 15m on him, lets wait to see if he actually gets dropped. Zabaleta is hardly Paolo Maldini. If he continues to play he will be a threat because of set pieces.

        If he had lasted 3 more minutes on Sat there wouldn't be anywhere near this clamour on here to get him out!

        as i screwed up the placing of my post i will try and redeem myself.
        even if hutton isn't injured tottenham defend a lot better with corluka in the side. a hutton injury is possibly a blessing in disguise. even a sideways move to dawson is worth it imo, then there's all the double gw defenders.

        I wouldn't get rid of Vidic as they have a good run, and I wouldn't be looking to get in Berbatov ahead of Rooney if he's about to hit form as he may be.

        Looking at your team, have you considered Kolarov & MGP out for Evatt and Adam? That appears to be a popular choice of move.

    When should I use my WC? ASAP (pick a team that works with the DGw(24)), before gw24 and then use free transfers to change some before gw27 or gw 27 (and use free transfers to get a decent side for gw24?

    So, like a lot of people here, I'll be pushing the wildcard button tomorrow night, and will be trying to play the transfer market to gain team value over the 10-day period before the next Gameweek. I've never done it before, so I thought I'd suggest a few guidelines, and see if I've missed anything.

    1) Watch the rate at which a player is going up, as well as whether they're going to rise that night. They have to up again by the deadline for you to make any profit.

    2) Before you sell any player, look how they're doing on Total FPL and see whether they might go up later in the week.

    3) Don't forget to monitor whether any of your current players are going down. If you sell them and get them back afterwards then you might gain a bit of value, depending on when you got them.

    4) Ear-mark the players that you UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES can get rid of. For many people this will be Bale, Nani, Caroll, etc - swapping them in and out will only lose you money.

    5) However, if you are going to dump a player on which you have made value, you may as well do it at the start of the week and use to slot to make the value up somewhere else.

    6) If reasonable, try to have at least 1 goalkeeper, defence, midfield and striker slot available for transfer dealings. It'll be annoying if a striker is going up exponentially, but you can't ride the increase.

    7) Have some idea of the players that you want in your final team when you start playing the profit game, and monitor them. You need to get them before they rise, even if it takes up a slot that could temporarily be used on another rising player.

    Any problems with any of that?

      I was very tempted to use my WC from tomorrow night, and play the profit game, but decided to use it in the very last GW as the profit game will only gain you 0.2-0.3 max, and with 4 DGWs coming in GW27, you can set up your team to profit from both the DGWs and for the rest of the season. Doing it this week will give you no flexibility for the future DGWs and in case of any real transfer activity.

      Three Arsenal players sounds far too much. Wouldn't touch any of their defenders/goalkeeper. Their best striker is in awful form and prone to rotation. That leaves the mids - and even having both Fabregas and Nasri seems a bit lopsided considering all the great midfield options in the game.

        if Djourou nails down a spot, he looks good value at 4.2.

        Can't see any defenders that cheap as likely to keep a clean sheet.

              possibly. the vermaelen return would complicate things for djourou but it's definitely worth keeping an eye on. how many 4.2 defenders players for half decent defences?

              Wenger isn't really much of a tinker man (Wigan game aside). He usually has a first XI in his head and mainly sticks to it.

              The only positions where it's not clear who is first choice is the wing (Arshavin vs. Walcott) and who is number two and number 3 in the centre half pecking order (Koscielny vs. Djourou).

      It especially makes me worried with the captaincy choice. The problem is that the other obvious source of captaincy, Man Utd, players, are kind of ravaged by injury at this moment.

    I really don't get all the Torres in transfers, I know he has a DGW but both games are away and Liverpool are pure SHITE away from home. Captaining him is even more bizarre.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL ON HERE! Thanks for all of the good advice last year. I really need help again.

    My only guaranteed defensive starter is bench warmer simpson. I presume that rafael will play after being rested against wba but my other defenders are konchesky, kolarov and salcido!! What are the chances of one of these playing this gameweek?

    As I want to get in adam and torres (4pt hit) it would mean a further 4pt hit to bring in a defender. The only player that I think will be worth this is skertel BUT to do this trade I would have to downgrade Nasri (rather than MGP) to Adam to raise the funds. But he has really tasty fixtures coming up after City.

    Please help!!

      8 pt hits rarely pay off IMO. forget about torres, bring in adam, consider switching konch or salcido for a 4pt hit. rafael is a likely starter (again IMO)
