[sbu_large_image] Scout Picks

With the FA Cup weekend a distant memory, itโ€™s time for Premier League managers to calm the rotation, restore the big guns and get back down to business. The Scout Picks follows suit as another Gameweek rolls into view for the Friday evening treatmentโ€ฆ

The Defence

Joe Hart
The City keeper presents an awfully expensive option but, along with Kolo Toure, the most secure route if youโ€™re looking to hoover up City clean sheets. With Wolves at Eastlands this weekend, Hart looks good for yet another shut-out and with a lack of security elsewhere in Roberto Manciniโ€™s back four, duly gets the nod in the Picks.

Jose Bosingwa
The Chelsea back four is far from a sure bet when it comes to defensive returns these days, but Bosingwa is relatively cheap, looks certain to play and presents a significant threat going forward on the right flank. A Stamford Bridge encounter with Blackburn promises returns at one end, if not two.

Roger Johnson
While Liam Ridgewell has emerged as a more potent goal threat, the stats show that Johnson has had more efforts on goal and is overdue further attacking returns. Heโ€™s also more prominent when it comes to Fantasy Premier League Bonus and against a Villa side lacking both Emile Heskey and Ashley Young, he could well emerge with a shut-out and Bonus this weekend.

Robert Huth
The big Stoke defender has proven his attacking threat at set-pieces with handsome goal returns this season. Huth will get a workout against the muscular Bolton attack, but that could see him stand out and capture some Bonus Points. Plenty of potential for returns at both ends then.

Antolin Alcaraz
A gamble given the likely return of Moussa Dembele to the visiting Fulham attack, Alcaraz is nonetheless the dominant figure in the Wigan defence and has every chance of returning Bonus with or without a home cleanie for Roberto Martinezโ€™ side.

The Midfield

Chris Brunt
While Blackpool will turn up at the Hawthorns with the influential Charlie Adam in midfield, the Baggies have Brunt to orchestrate matters for them and he could well come out on top in a game that promises goals. Bruntโ€™s delivery from open play and set-pieces will be a feature and if the Baggies can pull off a result, he could deny Adam yet more Bonus returns. With Roberto Di Matteo handing him the captaincy today, we must just see the Irishman rise to the occasion.

Samir Nasri
The Nasri vs Cesc Fabregas debate rages on and it could well be time to consider drafting both into our lineups to solve the issue. For now Nasri will suffice for the Picks as Arsenal travel to Upton Park to face a West Ham side which will battle but should concede at least a couple to the fluid Arsenal attack. Both Nasri and Fabregas could well be in the points but, with the Frenchmanโ€™s price considerably kinder, it makes sense to bank on him to inflict the damage and boost his goal tally further.

Nani
The United winger remains the key Fantasy midfielder as he continues to demonstrate a consistent level of scoring that belies his early career at Old Trafford. The clash with Spurs at White Hart Lane could well see goals with the home side possessing plenty to test Alex Fergusonโ€™s rearguard. The visitors may need at least a couple to come away with something and that will surely mean that Nani will again be amongst the points.

Charlie Adam
While itโ€™s a risk throwing in two players from the same match, Adamโ€™s form is so strong, his case for inclusion is overwhelming. The battle with Brunt for superiority in midfield should be a fascinating one and Iโ€™m tipping both to emerge from the weekend clash with returns. Adam has peppered the opponentโ€™s goal over the last two Gameweeks and he is well overdue a return for such attacking intent.

The Forwards

Carlos Tevez
Even with the introduction of Eric Dzeko as a unknown variable, Tevez looks an irresistible option at home to a Wolves defence that will surely grant him ample opportunities to fetch further Fantasy returns.

Fernando Torres
Kennyโ€™s big hope with Steven Gerrard suspended, Torres will go into the Merseyside derby having scored his first goal under Dalglish at Blackpool in midweek. Back at Anfield, Torres promises to be an even bigger threat and with our Membersโ€™ statistics showing an impressive goal threat over his last three matches, Torres looks good for returns against an Everton defence that will be without the influential Phil Jagielka.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

ancelotti said (according to the Mirror) that sturridge played very well in the FA cup and drogba is out of form so he wants to give sturridge a chance, and hopefuly drogba takes being dropped to the bench as positive.
*i think* he also said that when dorgba was subbed on at 45mins in one of the previous games, he looked brilliant. so dropping him on the bench shud inspire him.

there is a Tweet and link to an article in which Ancelloti talks about changing things up front and giving Sturridge more time (also mentioned in Team News)

Drogba just got a rest so I think he'll play

I need to strengthen my defence this week and I'm looking to do 1 transfer

    Jaask Carson
    Baines Skrtel Foley Ferdinand Bardsley

What do you guys reckon? I was actually thinking Jaask -> Hart. Since I'm probably going to play my wildcard next week I'm just looking for the one keeper or defender who is most likely to keep a CS.

And then play Bardsley, Ferdinand and one out of Skrtel and Baines, but who? ๐Ÿ™‚

I've gone for Adam - breaking my rule of always captaining whoever was highest in the captain's poll that I owned. Fallen so far in my leagues that I need some outside bets currently circa 600k, finshed last year 6k position.

The amount of 1's and 2's my 10mil+ players have given me as captain this year is ridiculous so I would say why not!

I'm a glutton for punishment so will be going with Tevez for a healthy 2 points.

Please don't shout at me. But I do think it may be time to CONSIDER (note the word does not mean act!) moving out Andy Carroll. I have him. I love him. The boy done well. BUT we all have lots of dosh and with Rooney rvp dzeko lamps fabs etc all coming into the frame it's all about getting the edge. Look at what a difference a few points can do moving you up 1000s of places. I am just saying is all. Open minds...

I got rid of him as soon as I heard the news he was injured. Something just didn't sound right and I think he may be out for a while yet. Had him from very near the start so lost quite a bit by getting rid but there's absolutely no point holding onto an injured/suspended/asian cup player right now. Bring people in for individual games weeks then sort your team back to how you want it with the wildcard.

    I need a keeper @ ~ 6.0

Background: I don't know shat about this sport. I’m not in it to win it per say, as I’m just learning the sport, have a terrible rank, but am learning. I challenge my mate on a month to month basis for some specialty beers. He may have January in the bag, but I could catch him as I am stacked for GW 24 and he is not.

Plan on using my first WC week 26ish.

So who is the best keeper for the next 2-3 GWs? (Can’t be Van der Sar)

A risk to possibly force myself to use a transfer on a goalie for GW25?

        Or

        Kingson :
        23 – West Brom (A) 24 – Sunderland (H)/Man U (H) 25 West Ham (H)

Good start to Feb to win me some free beer?

        Or

        Reina :
        23- Everton (H) 24 Wolves (A)/ Fulham(H) 25- Stoke (H)

Why punt on Dzeko when you have RVP who is also on pens? and yaya>dorrans if you like a punt. get rid of kingson as he isnt permanent. kolarov is garbage change him to rafael. and you must be the only person on earth to have a liverpool defender in your wc team.

kingson might not be too bad short term, a good few double gameweeks coming up and no doubt will have to make a few saves given blackpools defence.

      Rethink the defence now.

      (And Fabianski's injured this weekend.)

Anyone considering Keane as a differential if he goes to birmingham and they get a triple gameweek? only 4.8, and scored 12 in 16 when he moved to celtic on loan last season

Even Cameron Jerome would score 12 in 16 in the SPL, it'll take a few weeks b4 he gets into his stride! Will he be McLeishs No.1 choice though?

Not really. Brum just don't score enough goals.

And the SPL isn't the toughest test for a striker.

His old bones won't stand for 270 minutes of football in a week, but he does look good value at 4.8.

Hey guys, really in a pickle, I have the Greek man, so need to replace him either next week and play Coleman this week, or I transfer him out this week and bench Coleman. I need a cheap defender, either 4.2 arsenal defender djderu ( cnt spell) or Kelly. If I know hese going to play I would go for Kelly as there double in 24 looks tasty. What do u think. Arsenal def or Liverpool one but is risky?? Or wait it out and just play Coleman this week and asses my options after the matchs have been played? Cheers

    Subs: Caroll, Simpson, Samba

    1. Do I need any changes a lads this week or should i save my swop? The ones with the * could have a strong game week.

Thinking of doing Elmander to Rodallega this week, thinking of Wigan's DGW coming up.

Also, who to captain from Nasri, Adam, Nani and Torres. Very tight between them all but i'm thinking Adam for some reason?

That sounds like a solid transfer Rock.

Of that lot Adam would be my last choice, I would only consider Nasri from your list, beware though my captains tend to get me 1 or 2 points.

Yeah Nasri might be more sensible choice, can see a few goals in the West Brom game though, and if Blackpool score then Adam has a good chance of being amoungts the points and BP's. Probally will go for Nasri though, he's highest up in the poll too, wish i had Tevez though!

Most certainly IMO. think he could do well, going to give him some time to settle down and get a few games first though. I will look to have him in my team in GW 26/27 if all goes well.

I think it may come too soon for him. Needs a run of games before he'll be sharp enough to start scoring any decent points.
