Steve Bruce failed to avenge his October St James’ Park thrashing, Man United kept up their unbeaten league season and Kenny Dalglish continued his win-less start to his second stint as Liverpool boss in a day where all four Premier League matches failed to produce a single victor…..

Nedum Onouha recovered from a hamstring injury to take his place in the Sunderland back four again, though Lee Cattermole and Danny Welbeck remain sidelined for the Black Cats. Steve Bruce’s side were poor throughout and only a late Asamoah Gyan goal prevented bitter rivals Newcastle from doing the double over them this season. Elmohamady was fielded in right midfield and picked up 2 Bonus Points, his first such award since game week 9.

With Andy Carroll still out injured, Alan Pardew welcomed back Shola Ameobi and the forward grabbed an assist for Kevin Nolan’s cheeky opener in the Tyne Wear derby. Proving they can perform without midfield warrior Cheik Tiote, Newcastle were perhaps unlucky to hold out for a win, though Nolan’s Fantasy Owners will no doubt be delighted with a 10 point return from the Toon skipper.

Alex McLeish showed his faith in David Bentley by giving the on-loan Spurs man a place in Birmingham’s starting XI for the visit of Aston Villa. An injury to Cameron Jerome saw Matt Derbyshire line up as the lone forward for McLeish’s side, as Nikola Zigic warmed the bench yet again. Seb Larsson, linked with an imminent move away from St Andrews, missed out through an ongoing groin and hip injury.

David Murphy came in at left-back and Liam Ridgewell moved to centre half as Big Eck confirmed Scott Dann will probably miss the rest of the season with a serious hamstring problem. Murphy grabbed the assist for Roger Johnson’s goal as the hosts took the lead through a scrappy free-kick. Johnson also picked up 2 FPL Bonus Points for his toils.

Ashley Young’s one-match suspension allowed John Carew a rare chance up front for Gerard Houllier’s side. Kyle Walker continued to impress at right-back, with plenty of surging runs and dangerous balls into the box delivered from the flank. His partnership with Marc Albrighton down the Villa right looks promising for Houllier. Having struck the bar three times in the first half, Villa also had a centre half to thank for their solitary goal, with James Collins (who also got the maximum 3 Bonus Points) firing home to deny to Birmingham a win, unsurprisingly following a cross from the right.

Martin Kelly has now started in all three games at right-back since Kenny Dalglish’s return to Anfield, with Glen Johnson filling in at left-back, despite the availabilty of Fabio Aurelio. Paul Konchesky didn’t even make the bench, suggesting his first-team opportunities are likely to be few and far between under the new regime. A stomach illness saw Daniel Agger taken off at half-time to be replaced by Sotirios Kyrgiakos in the Reds’ back four.

Steven Gerrard’s suspension meant Dirk Kuyt was on spot kick duties and the Dutchman obliged, with the vital equaliser in the 2-2 Merseyside derby draw. In addition to the penalty, Kuyt’s assist for Raul Meireles’ opener was enough to grab him the 3 Bonus Points, with Meireles being awarded 2. Fernando Torres looked lively up front, particularly in the first half, a factor that will please his Fantasy Owners ahead of the upcoming double game week. His six goal attempts were equalled only by Hugo Rodallega and James Morrison all weekend.

An impressive performance in the heart of the Everton defence saw Sylvian Distin also grab the equaliser for David Moyes’ side as they fought back superbly after a poor first half showing. Jermaine Beckford grabbed only his third goal of the season to put the visitors ahead but Moyes was denied a famous win as Tim Howard conceded a penalty for Liverpool to make it 2-2. Howard had a great game overall, though, making nine saves to repel the Liverpool attack time and again.

Having suffered defensively for the majority of the season, Spurs chalked up their third consecutive clean sheet at White Hart Lane. There’s no coincidence that this is down to the return from injury of Michael Dawson, as Harry Redknapp’s side have conceded one in four home games since his comeback. Redknapp chose to field Peter Crouch as a lone striker for the visit of Man United, throwing Jermain Defoe on when United were reduced to ten men after Rafael’s red card. Luka Modric once again picked up the three Bonus Points and had been awarded 14 (3 X 4, 2 X 1) in Spurs last five home games.

Nemanja Vidic was a rock at the back for United, as their unbeaten run was extended to 21 games. United rarely threatened going forward, with Nani being withdrawn just after the hour mark following an anonymous performance at right wing. Rafael’s two yellow cards mean he will now miss the first of United’s matches in the upcoming double game week, at home to Birmingham. United are unable to appeal a red card for two yellow card offences under FA rules. There’s also reports suggesting that the FA will look into Rafael’s actions as he left the pitch following the dismissal with possible discplinary action taken. Other articles this morning state that the FA will overlook this if the events are not included in referee Mike Dean’s report.

Gettin rid of the Drog this week to bring in a DGW in either Rooney or Torres just not sure which? Torres looked really sharp yesterday although his points didn't really reflect it and my lack of LIV coverage is making me lean towards him? Tevez is just too hot right now to drop and thats why I'm dropping Drog.

I would then have 6 DGW players which I think maybe enough? Although should I do Rafael > Ferdinand to cover both games?

I was really hoping that Torres, Rooney or Berb would do enough yesterday to make them essential. Unfortunately all 3 did the opposite.

wildcard = pick the players you want for rest of season, not for a dwg.

    Hart (Soderburg)
    Baines Alcaraz Evra Crainey Skertl

Got one transfer and thinking of saving the WC until GW25...

    How does Bale>N'zog sound?

Would really appreciate a bit of advice on my team for this week. Currently my team is:

    Foster (Carson)
    Rafael Konchesky Kolarov Huth Coleman
    VDV Nasri NANI N'ZOG ADAM
    Drogba Tevez Carroll

As you can see I currently only have 3 DGW players, however I do have 2 freebies and 2.6 in the bank. What would you suggest? Options I thought of are:

    1. Konch - Vidic and Drogba - Torres.
This would give me some LIV cover but I'm not convinced about Torres. Would also give me no United striker.

    2. Rafael - Vidic and Drogba - Rooney
I'd have no LIV cover and I'm also not convinced by Rooney (or Berb for that matter).

Both options would only give me 5 DGW players. Would it be worth a hit to get more in? Skrtel and Stockdale are options I thought of.

take out carson and drogba..koncheskey already gone down in value so just put him on the bench, drogba will go down at some point this week based on current transfers out....get stockdale and whichever striker you prefer from Rooney, berbatov and Torres. Dont think 4 point hit worth it. Rafael back for blackpool, never know he might bag a goal/assist

Cheers, all sounds like very sound advice. Those were the transfers I had planned before Rafael's little performance.

One thing I should mention is that my mini-league rival has doubled up on United defence with Vidic and Evra, which is part of the reason I want Vidic. Obviously Rafael could still outscore Vidic minus 4, but it would decrease the chances of a big swing.

yeh rafael disrupted my plans abit aswell, everyone in my mini league got tevez...so gonna make the bold move and take out tevez for rooney. Just have this fear with berbatov he might get dropped for the lil pea! plus rooney on pens.

As much as they should keep a clean sheet against bham, if neville plays odds favour them conceding! Even oshea could come in if hes fit

That is a very bold move, Tevez could score more in his single game vs Villa than Rooney over his 2. I share your fears re Berb though.

Good point re GNev, but bham will surely park the bus and no CS would be very surprising.

yeh i would be surprised if manu dont keep clean sheet aswell, but way i see it is...if you have a gk playing twice you have more chance of getting pts from the saves, add that to two potential clean sheets. Might make up for me not having vidic. Also no Scott Dann so hoping manu get a few goals! we will see in the next 10 days!

Isn't it weird: If you have a really bad gameweek, and then at the end, Tevez came on as Captain and got you 26 points, whe would have saved your gameweek.

But if he starts, and the same players all score low, it's more like they're letting you down.

Guys and girls, was just wondering what the consensus is on the following two issues:

    1) Presumably many of us will have three United players this week. With Nani a given, what other two would you have? Going for goals with Berba and Rooney? Or avoiding that as you think Hernandez will get some game time? Or one attacker and a defender rying to look after both ends? Rafael getting a red has put a spanner in the works for a few I’m sure.

    2) What are the thoughts on double gameweek defenders? Short of a United defender, the other five sides don’t look too hot. Would you play a Coleman or a Baines over a double gameweeker for example? I think I will, going to try and not be blinded by it all.

I know, Konch has gone already. But the others? They’ll have to wait. There is no point taking a hit and selling them unless its for a positive score – And I can’t afford a United defender by selling either Dann or Salcido.

The Rafael red wasn't that bad really. There was always a good chance he'd only play one game and be rested for the other (probably Brum at home as they'll park the bus). And I wasn't too happy with Coleman was on my bench, so now he comes in.

Hernandez will get some game time, but when and how much is anyone's guess.

Think Begovic and Flapihanski are the best rotating keepers for the rest of the season, Kingson despite having doubles would not be someone I would want in my team to be honest.

Bardsley has very poor fixtures - I would be looking at Hutton or Dawson for Spurs with DGW coming up soonish and the fact they are now keeping cleanies.

I think both will concede, and Kolarov is "due" an assit or goal, so I would play Kolarov

Most annoying at times this year, I am yo-yoing up and down the rankings, Week 15, after three consecutive green arrows I am at 62,962 followed by 4 consecutive red arrows to 108,092, back to 71,390 the following week, red arrow and 155,997 the following week, then two green arrows to 70,866 and last week a red arrow to 144,229.

Sorry that is very boring to read, but is annoying finding the lack of consistancy a bit annoying this year, one week I do quite well, the following week very bad, there doesn't appear to be a middle ground.

I am happy with my team:

    http://fantasy.premierleague.com/M/entryhist.mc?id=977

(Did Piquionne OUT Campbell IN this week) yet, a goodish team doesn't appear to be getting me anywhere!

very similar team to mine and i am ranked 49k. Difference i have is Carroll - Pig, Torres - Tevez.
I think Tevez has been costly to u.

Also ur captain choices havent really helped.

Honestly mate im in a very similar position and this admittedly sounds like sour grapes but im finding this season that people who have what appear to be well thought out and logically chosen teams (on paper) arent doing well and your less mentally stable competitor is romping home lol. Its a bizarre season. I think in the case of this week though if you had tevez as captain you did ok if you didnt you didnt do ok.

    van der sar
    coleman vidic huth elmohamady baines
    vdv adam bale nasri nani
    elmander tevez carroll

the WC available is tempting for wk24 DGW , dont really wanna use it looking at
    dempsey for bale
bench carroll and take a -4 rogdallega for elmander
think everton at home will stonk west ham and quite happy with the 3 man united coverage

Already wildcarded in GW23 and am lined up for GW24 as follows:

    Stockdale (Hart)
Alcaraz Djourou Givet (R Johnson) (Huth)
    Fabregas Nani VdV Adam S.Davies
    Tevez Rooney (DJ)

    Two questions:
    1) Worth bringing in Kelly for Givet for free or hold back to have 2 frees for GW25?

    2) Who to play out of Simon Davies or DJ ?

Got to be either bale or walcott. Walcott has more chance of not playing but if he does, seems more likely to score highly.
