Manchester United have until 6pm today to contest the charge of improper conduct brought against Rafael Da Silva yesterday, with the right-back facing a possible extension of his one-match for his dismissal against Spurs.

Yesterday’s statement by the FA confirmed that Rafael faced a charge relating to “the player’s conduct towards match official Mike Dean following his dismissal in Manchester United’s fixture at Tottenham.â€

Dean included details of the player’s reaction to his decision to issue him a red card following a second bookable offence following an innocuous looking challenge on Benoit Assou-Ekotto.

Rafael will already miss the first of United’s two fixtures in the Gameweek, the Old Trafford clash with Birmingham. Should he be found guilty of this improper conduct charge he will receive either a warning, a fine or even an additional ban. That would see him sit out the trip to Blackpool and miss the entirety of United’s double Gameweek – at the very least.

While many print and online sources reported the charge yesterday, none committed to a likely punishment. The Telegraph have today stated that Rafael could face an additional one-match ban. Having spoken to the FA this morning, we can confirm that more than one match could be added to his existing suspension. The FA cited a recent example where Norwich defender Liam Barnett received an additional two-matches after he was charged with improper conduct for throwing the ball at the referee when dismissed in the clash with Portsmouth on December 11.

Owners of the full-back can only sit and wait for the verdict – the FA confirmed to us that we are likley to hear a verdict by this evening.

Given the circumstances surrounding the charge one would hope for leniency from the FA. An additional ban would be a major blow in Fantasy terms given the likelihood of returns from Rafael over the Gameweek. United would seem odds on to claim another shutout against Alex McLeish’s side a the weekend, while Rafael’s raiding runs on the right-flank could easily bring attacking rewards at Blackpool, even if Ian Holloway’s side breach the United back four.

John O’Shea would be favourite to step in at right-back in the absence of the Brazilian. He returned to reserve team action last week following a six-week absence with a calf injury. With Wes Brown out of favour and Gary Neville still licking his wounds from a roasting at West Brom, it would seem likely that Alex Ferguson will turn to O’Shea to fill the void.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

They say it's supposed to develop a patina, but they also say that it increases its non-stick qualities.

mine has a patina, but it's decidedly non-non-stick. I've tried leaving oven cleaner in it a few times, but no effect, so it's certainly carbonization. Wonder what they'll say?

Last thing I cooked in it was Dauphinoise with rocket and pancetta. Delicious. It really is a good pan, but I think it would stick to the tuna.

It is because you are treating it incorrectly, then. Here goes: scour it thoroughly with a non-scratch pad for ten minutes or so, and rinse in the hottest water you can manage for about three minutes. Then completely dry it, and put on a medium hob. Pour in enough good quality olive oil to coat the entire cooking surface, and heat until the oil starts to smoke. Take off the heat, and allow to cool for ten minutes. Wipe firmly with paper towel until aforementioned patina remains. Never allow water to touch the surface again - or any other cleaning agent!

    Hey all

Could i have some thoughts/opinions on the following:

My WC team so far is as follows:

    VDS, stockdale
    coleman, hangeland, carr, kelly, walker
    VDV, Nani, Adam, Dempsey, Kuyt
    Tevez, Berba, RVP

I am tempted to switch kuyt and berba TO nzogbia and torres?

    What do you think?

Neither Dempsey nor Kuyt would make it in to my team put it that way!

Single gameweek yeah but i fancy Arsenal to score better in a single than Fulham will in their double.

Don't forget you should also be setting up your team for the coming weeks as well and Arsenal have fixtures on their side and are hittign form at the moment. Two of their attacking players looks like a minimum requirement to me - i'm thinking about tripling up!

              Fair dinks.

I think the most important thing is to go with your instincts because it's easier to go with your gut feeling and have it flop than to not go with your gut feeling and watch that payoff when you didn't go through with it.

              I've got Fabs and Nasri.

Been pretty outspoken about the fact i think RVP might be used sparingly but i'm coming round to the idea of him, gonna wait and see for a couple of weeks and i might bring him in for week 27.

Honestly i think the most likely thing is that everyone will be rested for the odd game - with the busy fixture schedule and strong squad it seems somewhat inevitable.

People might not be sure about Murphy, but with Dann out, McLeish likes Murphy. He should offer more attacking threat than Carr. Wouldnt be surprised to see him over a free-kick or two aswell

Im effectively using a 4 week wild card this week (using my other in GW28). With that in mind should i go for:

i had a lovely wildcard team planned but rafeal is messing it up,
who is the best defender to fill the void?

    Stockdale (foster)
    Evatt Djourou RAFAEL (coleman, Simpson)
    Fabregas Nani Davies Adam (VDV)
    Berbatov Tevez Torres

    bank balance .09
This leaves me with 6 million to replace RAF

So what do you guys think, i dont mind if its someone ideal for the dgw, or for the run of games after (as i could easily and wuite happily play coleman)
but im not sure who to look at, should i just get rafeal and not play him? hangeland seems a waste when i am planning on stockdale, (but maybe i should change stockdale) the mummy has burned me once, so im shy of getting him again.

    ideas appreciated?
any comments on the team in general welcome too, but i guess its your standard this week

IMO shift Torres for carroll, bench him this week and play VDV.

Use the extra money to upgrade Raf to Vidic.

Also i'd go Murphy (brum) and Walker (villa) over Evatt and Simpson.

      And N'Zog/Nasri/Walcott over Davies

I think Walker will play regularly. I imagine Villa would have offered some assurances on that otherwise i can't see the logic behind the loan deal (for spurs) when QPR wanted him back and he was playing regularly there.

Of course i don't KNOW this, but i'm fairly convinced by it myself.

Not too sure about Carroll to be honest but i'm enjoying the lack of selection headaches until he is back so it's not really an issue for me (though i did get him for 5m back in the first week).

I also had vidic at the start of this week, but STUPIDLY player my WC on the satudray to take advantage of price changes, how foolish!

fair point about walker, i may give him a go, een if he does lost it, it wouldnt be too bothersome

if you are looking for a big score this week, how about VDS and hughes instead of foster and raf, then bring foster in for VDS in a couple weeks for the triple? that way you still have a united covering defence. perhaps begovic over stockdale if you can afford?

hmm ive had foster from the get go, so selling him for 2 weeks seems like a lot of loss,

not sure why people are signing begovic? poor enough fixtures next 4 (double not attractive), by which time he could lose his place to sorenson?
i realise stockdale will be losing his place very soon tho

I think that there is a good chance that both will play both games as they tend to play two strikers against "lesser opposition" (no offence). I think Rooney will play both games either way as he needs matches to go to full fitness. I think there is more chance that Berbatov might be rotated out for one of the games because (a) he was anonymous against Spurs and (b) Fergie might want to give Hernandez or even Owen a game, given the opposition

That's why I plumped for Arteta over Cahill earlier this season. Cahill doesn't get anything apart from if he happens to score. Of course he then went on a mad goalscoring run, which could well continue on his return.
