After a three week absence, I finally managed to corner Mark and drag him kicking and screaming into the studio for another podcast. His resistance is understandable, the New Year hasn’t been quite so “happy” for our host and after Carlos did the business for me last weekend, Mark finds himself clinging to my coattails and the hope that the impending double Gameweek can prompt a change in fortunes.

The “Doubles” dominate the airwaves of this latest episode, providing the crux of this week’s “Discussion” and influencing the usual smattering of regulars – “All Aboard”, “The Weekend Preview” and even “Fantasy Island Risks”. Take four Villa players onto the Island? “Double Trouble” must have gone to our heads.

Evra has been rubbish this season but ff wise he still bombs forward a lot. He had 7 assists last year.
I am going with Evra as I can not afford to pay more than 7.5 for any defender

Enjoying the scoutcast while working on my WC, thanks lads.

    Any opinions on this:

    Stockdale
    Vidic, Evatt, Kelly
    Nani(c), Nasri, Adam, VDV
    Tevez, Berb, Torres

    Foster, Walcott, Coleman, Djourou

Not sure about who to bench and Torres vs RVP.

Looks about the way I'm heading. Bench Evatt and play Coleman or Djourou.

Walcott on your bench? Adam's fixtures look OK upcoming (if he stays at Blackpool) - will Walcott get a look in? My main midfield four will largely stay the same so I'm getting a dirt cheap 5th midfielder.

Yeah, the WC's hurting me. I like my team now. Would normally be playing Fabs and Baines and Coleman who are in now, but the doubles are ruining everything.

Walcott's due to sit there till gw26 I'm thinking. You might be right with a cheapie but I have a fair bit of £££ saved up.

Yeah dgw, thanks for the input. I'm seriously eying up the WC. I don't want to, I've built my team up and like it now, but without WCing I fear I'll fall behind while everyone else does and piles in the DGWers.

Coleman in. Just trying to justify my Evatt buy for the previous DGW.

Who's getting rid of Tevez for Berbatov this week? I want to but I'd lose money and it's tight for my projected WC team.

Well I got Tevez at 11.1 and he's now 11.5, so I'd lose 0.2 but Berbatov could rise by 0.2, but then again Tevez might rise again.

Wildcard targets such as Djourou, RVP and Odemwingie are near a rise.

Hmm, I might hold out. Although I'd love VDS (for Gordon) and Tevez --> Berbatov makes that possible.

I'd need to do the transfer tonight anyway, but I'm certainly having second thoughts.

(0.4 in the bank at present for projected wildcard team)

Still haven't seriously looked at my potential wildcard team. It's probably for the best as I'd just end up fretting up every single price change that happens between now and then, like you seem to be doing!! 😉

0.2 isn't too much I guess, it could easily be worth taking a punt on Berba for the next two weeks.

            Kolarov Rafael Coleman Djourou Murphy
            Fabregas Cahill VDV Nani Albrighton
            RVP Tevez Odemwingie

Hmm, if money is an issue I could always replace Albrighton with someone cheaper.

Ha it was crazy! Didnt get the salad but I saw its awesomeness. Just done Salar de Uyuni which was incredible and now im in Potosi for my last Bolivian pitstop before Argentina.

Why is Konch a definite no? Surely Rafael vs Blackpool has a beeter chance of a cleany instead of Alcaraz vs Villa?

nice one. there are this little stalls in potosi that sell lomito and chips for 5 bolivianos each. had about 4 of those a night there 🙂 . the mine is fun, grim but fun. good fun dressing up in all the gear.

glen johnson is playing lb now with aurelio on the bench too. konch is a as dead as his hair right now. i suppose alcaraz is a bad option at the emirates, it's just blackpool have a weird knack of scoring. that one's more 50-50 but konch is a no no.

Ok, done the deed, currently my WC team looks like this:
    Foster Al-Habsi
    Coleman Vidic Baird Kelly Djourou
Vaughan Fabregas Nani Van der Vaart N’Zogbia
    Van Persie Torres Berbatov

but am considering a tinkle – RVP to Bent then upgrade Vaughan to Adam maybe. Suggestions appreciated?

      12 of my planned 15.

      I approve.

RVP is on great form, and he has good fixtures coming up. I'm not selling him for Bent who's untried at a new club, and not just a new club, a club who haven't been on good form.

Yep cause i think he might be back for week 25 as the next game for newcastle after this weekends game will be 2nd February, which hopefully will be enough time for him to recover. I bought him when he was 5m to.

Newcastle manager confirmed that he is out for more three weeks...so taking count to that...it would be mostly that he would be available for the gamweek 27....and i dont think that if he is fit and available he would be risked to start in 2 games in a span of 5 days and after a lenghty spell of....even i broought him on at 5....so the same thng is worrying me....especially with so many strikers available rght now....thoughts guys??/

Thinking of playing WC, but with future matches in mind:

Is it worth bringing in Djourou with a great DGW in GW27? Will Squillaci be back? Is Cahill on his way to Arsenal now Wheater has joined Bolton. Both would limit appearances.

Also, do I keep Carroll having bought him for 5m? A great DGW in GW27. Might not be fit and if he is, might not play both games. Plus it will cost me 0.6m more to buy him back later.

    Foster, Begovic
    Kolarov, Coleman, Pantsil, Djourou, Walker
    Fabregas, Nani, VdV, Adam, Dorrans
    Torres, Van Persie, Berbatov

Like? Dorrans probably won't play at all tbh! Only 6 doublers? Probably not enough for a wildcard team but meh!

I agree, makes Glen Johnson look good at defending but he loves getting forward so that's all good for me! I fancy Villa to turn the corner now, Bent despite the transfer fee and Makoun are good signings.

no its nice to see you not using your wildcard just for the doubles, not bad, just nitpicking but you could upgrade dorrants if you downgraded fabregas, like iv said the past 3 times im going for nasri/RVP in my wildcard, that 2m could be spent in better places

Erm, I suppose.. but I love Fabs mainly cos I have a huge soft spot for Arsenal, my Grandad supported them so their kind of like my second team! He is like what Ballack is to jamsiep! 😉

Dorrans is only really in there cos I'm comfortable benching him this week, and not having an awkward decision of deciding whether to bench VdV.

Erm, I suppose. He's got so much class though I don't think he needs free kicks or penalties really. Don't really buy all this he's not as good with RVP, over the past two seasons, all his biggest scores have come when RVP has been on the pitch..
