After a three week absence, I finally managed to corner Mark and drag him kicking and screaming into the studio for another podcast. His resistance is understandable, the New Year hasn’t been quite so “happy” for our host and after Carlos did the business for me last weekend, Mark finds himself clinging to my coattails and the hope that the impending double Gameweek can prompt a change in fortunes.

The “Doubles” dominate the airwaves of this latest episode, providing the crux of this week’s “Discussion” and influencing the usual smattering of regulars – “All Aboard”, “The Weekend Preview” and even “Fantasy Island Risks”. Take four Villa players onto the Island? “Double Trouble” must have gone to our heads.

    Any suggestions for changes guys?

    Can only think of a goalkeeper swap for Robinson.

    I have 2 changes and so need to use 1, but Im fairly happy.

    Any wild risk ideas?!

    Are Murphy and Kelly nailed on starters now or should I look to try and downgrade someone to get carr and skrtel?

    I'm happy to go evra over Vidic ad think he will score better this Gw due to blackpool away

      Why are you getting Stockdale on your wildcard for?

      You'll likely need to spend a transfer having to get another keeper once Schwarzer gets back in a few weeks time.

      Al- Habsi is a safer option if you want a DGW keeper this week who should be OK to rotate with Foster for the rest of the season.

    My team is:

    Carson (Foster)
    Coleman, Samba, Evatt* (Kolorov, Simpson)
    Nani*, Fabregas, Adam*, Malouda (VDV)
    Berba*, Tevez, Caroll

    I have only got 4 DGW players. This week I have two free transfers and considering the following:

    1. Caroll > RVP
    2. Malouda > Dempsey*
    3. Carson > Stockdale* (4 point hit)

    What do you guys think?

      Yeah, I think i'll be getting rid of Bale when I do my Wildcard and keep VDV, in two/three weeks time. I've been hanging onto Bale for quite some time, he's my only remaining player from the very start though!

              Yeah, i'm thinking of getting in Djourou for Jara but i'd have to drop Bale this week in order to get Djourou in. I have Van Der Vaart as well so I still have Spurs cover..

      Not overkill this week, no.

      But like inalise says, your problems with that would start next week on as you'd probably either have to get rid of one of the two strikers or bench one for some games.

      Just go for Nani, one of the two strikers and Evra/Vidic if you can would be my advice if you want 3 Utd players this week.

      Thats a sticky one, you shouldnt really be in that position! Who have you got in you defense?

      If I had to choose one, it would probably be Tevez, with VDV a close 2nd, but either could seriously backfire!

        That is exactly why i'd rather do the tevez-->Rooney swap and play both Rooney & berba. I will play them again next week vs villa(h) while ManC is still on the road.

        Makes it possible for me to play VDV and bench Brunt(double in gw 27). Or even Play Dempsey and bench VDV!

        I need to gamble with 50pts to make up.

          I just dont see the sense in having both Rooney and Berbatov. You are tieing up your options too much, you need to spread the love! Well, thats my opinion anyway.

          If you need to make up 50 pts why not gamble on Torres or even Bent?

      Probably Van der Vaart or Adam.

      Yes, Adam has 2 games this week. But as one of them is likely a home hiding by Man Utd he may not get much of a score this GW.

    Considering giving vidic the armband this gw. i do have Nani and berbs and it's between nani and vidic. He could get two clean sheets, maybe 1-3 bp's and an odd goal(not counting on it though).Is it worth taking the chance and maybe getting the upper hand on all the managers who chose nani in my leagues? Or is this my first season in fpl and I'm a total fool?:P

      He got 21 pts in a dgw last season so not without merit. My idea of a differential would be someone like Rooney or Torres. I feel a storm coming.

        I captained Vidic for the DGW a season or two back and he got something like 48 points for me. United were on a solid run back then though, think they went without conceding for 12 games or something. But then I also had him captain when he got sent off losing 5-1 to Livepool and he got me -8.

        So the moral is, it's a bit of a risk to be honest, unless you really want to do something different I probably wouldn't advise it.

    Right, I've got a few questions.
    First off, who should I play this week out of Djourou and Kolorov?

    Secondly, what should I do about Kyle Walker. I currently have Djourou, but since I'm getting Van Persie next week I either have to get rid of him or Fabianski.
    Should I a) Get rid of Fabianski next week and keep Djourou?
    b) Get rid of Djourou next week and keep Fabianski?
    c) Get rid of Djourou this week, most likely for Kyle Walker?

    I've seen that Rafael will only be suspended for the home tie with Birmingham. He's available for the Blackpool game. My defence for this GW is currently

    Hangeland/Djourou/Coleman.

    Anyone think its worth benching Djorou or Coleman and taking a punt on Rafael at Blackpool, given his attacking threat?

    So after seeing the spurs team news today it looks like our new signing will get his debut against the Toon. I can Pienaar starting at left wing with Bale left back. Reason being that Ekotto is out with a knee Injury. We may also even go 442 as Wilson is out as well... Vdv and modric in a central mid or vdv left wing with Pienaar and modric central??? Who knows? All I can say is that it looks like a slightly different team is going to be pitched against Newcastle. Can't wait to see...
