After a three week absence, I finally managed to corner Mark and drag him kicking and screaming into the studio for another podcast. His resistance is understandable, the New Year hasn’t been quite so “happy” for our host and after Carlos did the business for me last weekend, Mark finds himself clinging to my coattails and the hope that the impending double Gameweek can prompt a change in fortunes.

The “Doubles” dominate the airwaves of this latest episode, providing the crux of this week’s “Discussion” and influencing the usual smattering of regulars – “All Aboard”, “The Weekend Preview” and even “Fantasy Island Risks”. Worth taking a 4 point hit to get a United defender in?

I have Nani and Berbs currently.
Was banking on getting Rafael for Clichy but no point now with his suspension! Any other United defender and I would have to take a hit…

  Benching Nasri is very brave; agree with Clichy over Kolarov. Don't see the point of an expensive goalkeeper like Reina when you can get an attacking full-back like Kelly for £4.2m.

    I just find it pretty weird how many times it's been said over the past few days, has Berbatov been 'rested' once this season? Because all I can remember games where he's been injured/ill or where Fergie decided to play just one up top, which he wont against Birmingham and B'Pool.

    Nasri played in midweek, Berbatov didn't. And Wenger has actually rested Nasri in the past, in the reverse against Wigan.
    
    Besides, I'd still back Nasri to start at the weekend, just the risk of him being benched, and then getting an inevitable 1 pointer, is more than enough to convince me to play VDV instead.

        Arsh has been woeful and I don't think Arse is gonna mess around with his team in the league when they have slipped at home to weaker teams but are still in with a huge chance of the title, he'll start his best side which is undoubtley, on form, those 6 as the mid & attack.

  The pattern seems to be difficult home or away games when Fergie adapts the 4-5-1 formation. The latest example being Arsenal at home.
  
  Neither game are in the difficult bracket so theoretically he should play both.
  
  Still haven't hit the wildcard button but tempted. Rooney is becoming less appealing by the minute but Berbs is the one who gets the goals when you least expect him. I'm heading in his direction.

        I have no problem with people thinking that Gerrard is massively overrated, I do too to a certain extent, but to suggest that Charlie f*cking Adam is definitely better than him is absolutely scandalous.

        In the case of a red card that was shown after two yellow cards, the player is dismissed and receives a one-match ban without the right to appeal.
        
        he does have a hearing though for improper conduct, so may increase, but i think not.
