After a three week absence, I finally managed to corner Mark and drag him kicking and screaming into the studio for another podcast. His resistance is understandable, the New Year hasn’t been quite so “happy” for our host and after Carlos did the business for me last weekend, Mark finds himself clinging to my coattails and the hope that the impending double Gameweek can prompt a change in fortunes.

The “Doubles” dominate the airwaves of this latest episode, providing the crux of this week’s “Discussion” and influencing the usual smattering of regulars – “All Aboard”, “The Weekend Preview” and even “Fantasy Island Risks”. Take four Villa players onto the Island? “Double Trouble” must have gone to our heads.

Need to bench one from these:

    Dempsey, Nani, Fabs, Bale, Adam
    Torres, Tevez, DJ Campbell

Torn between DJ and Bale, thoughts?

3 quick questions. For the short-term...

    Berbs or Rooney?
    RVP or Tevez?
    Nasri or Fabs?

So basically the three biggest dilemmas for people on here at the moment! Okay, maybe Nasri vs VDV for the bench is in there too...

Good luck getting some helpful 'quick' answers! 😀

Nasri vs VdV is no debate at all. Nasri with Fabs in the team = dead weight. Oh, plus he's *&%^ etc etc etc.

That is actually true, at least in the majority of games that Fabregas hasn't played recently.

He may play in the same position, but his points have massively dropped off since Fab's return. It's there in B&W, even a mongo like d1g2w3 can figure it out.

You can't play your wildcard after the deadline for week 27... So you can't stock up on DGW players for week 27, and then get rid of all of them for week 28.

                    And it's incredibly annoying.

I'm imagining a lot of the players in the double i'll want for the rest of the season, apart from 2 birm sh*tters.

As you can see, i haven't really thought about this much. If i have to transfer out 4 or so players for a huge hit before 28, so be it.

That's a little unhelpful ...yes. Berbs over Rooney. Fabs pinches the bonus points off Nasri and it pis*es me off.

        Here's a possibility:

        Foster/Stockdale
        Coleman/Vidic/Kelly/Walker/Djourou
Nani/Adam/Fabs/VDV/Ferguson (dead wood; 5th mid not used)
        Torres/RVP/Berbs

        But no bllody Tevez...

You have to analyze each player individually for their potential in any given game. That's why you sometimes play players against each other.

        Fabs (WIG)
        Van Persie (WIG)
        Tevez (avl)

It has to be Tevez to bench.

In between the two. You'll know more by tomorrow 😉

Have a little bit of a problem I wouldn't mind some friendly advice in 😛
Should I do Tevez --> Berbatov tonight before he rises? I'd lose 0.2/0.3 on Tevez when I get him back but Berbatov could grab a massive haul and will probably rise 0.2. It would also allow me to have VDS for Gordon.

One problem, money is tight for my projected wildcard team and many future targets are near a rise (although that could be sorted by downgrading getting a cheaper midfielder/forward to Albrighton/Odemwingie).

      Thoughts? Yay or nay? Thanks.

N'Zog is a decent option too mind.

Mmmm, A Cole could drop to 8.1 tonight. Another 4.0 drop & I may stick him on my watchlist with Simpson & Murphy. 29 players on my watchlist, can't believe I have one. "Ticket to Geekville please, yip, one way, no goin back now, yes Siree Bob".

    OK 90% sorted

    Begovic Vandersar
    Coleman Murphy Kelly Djourou Walker
    VdV Ferguson Adam Nani Fabregas
    Rooney Tevez VanP
    1.0 in bank
Got Ferguson in to save my brain exploding on who to bench...
    Only need to decide:
    1) Vandersar, Rooney, any cheap def
    2) Foster, Vidic, Berb
Have to decide b4 Berb goes up!

True, but still think they've kept 3 cleanies at home and 3 away. Think they've shored up a little at the back since Pardew took charge. Only have 4.3 anyway..

So, defenders for this GW... Not an easy task to select the 3 starters. And since I'm using my WC this week, it's even more difficult 🙂

    I currently have:
Evra - Kelly - Walker (Coleman, Simpson)

Djourou is also in my mind, but I will most likely bring him in later.
This is what my crystal ball says:

Evra: 8 points (1 cs, may get assist)
    Kelly: 8 points (1 cs)
    Walker: 8 points (1 cs)
Coleman: 2 points (no cs, may get assist or goal)
    Djourou: 6 points (1 cs)

Do I need a new crystal ball?

Hows this team for the rest of the season (to be played GW27), I know it's early doors and that but just forward planning

    Foster, Al-Habsi
    Huth, Bramble, Coleman, Hutton, Simpson
    Barton, Nani, Fabregas, VdV, Dempsey
    Tevez, Berbatov, RVP.

Yeah maybe. Just trying to think about who I definitely want and work around that. Carroll, if he returns to Newcastle duties with a clean bill of health could certainly come in.
I'm still not sure about spending too much in defence, although I do need some Chelsea cover somewhere so maybe Ivanovic can come in.
Bramble is there as Sunderland have one of the best clean sheet records this season, and he rotates perfectly with Simpson. But the defence does need work.

Aha! By dropping Berbatov the team suddenly becomes
          Foster, Al-Habsi
          Ivanovic, Bardsley, Coleman, Simpson, Carr
          Nasri, Nani, Fabregas, VdV, Barton
          RVP, Carroll, Tevez

Which is good, but far too much Arsenal and not nearly enough Mancs. Hmmmmmmm. Tough this.

Should I do Tevez --> Berbatov tonight Attila? I'd lose a little bit when I get him back and money seems tight for my projected wildcard team but it would allow me to get VDS for Gordon as well.

Erm erm erm, I dunno man that is such a huge call. But you really need a bearable goalie as Gordon is away and Carson is uttersupershite. Yeah I'd probably do it and then spend every city match chewing my fist in utter fear of Tevez scoring big.

What's the consensus from those who bought Carroll for 5m?

I'd lose .6m on getting him back in, but he's surely due to drop at least .3m? 2-3 weeks out minimum would see him be missing right up until the double..

Very close to deciding tonight, shipping him out for Berbatov who rises tonight. Thoughts?

Selling Drogba, would Torres be a more sensible choice as I already have Vidic and Nani as Utd coverage?

He's got one last chance. I fancy him to score well in the Fulham game at least - playing with Gerrard for the first time under Dalglish at Anfield.

the final of asia cup is 29 jan
gw 25 fixtures start on 1 feb
gw 26 fixtures start on 5 feb

i guess its probable that cahill will be back for gw26 at the latest, even earlier should the aussies not make the final?

Varney > Berba & Kolarov > Coleman (free up funds) (4pt hit?)

At the moment im either making no transfers or 2 because i want to get rid of varney (tevez & torres i also have)so i need another transfer to go with it. Im 0.1 short of getting in RVP which i would have preferred to have done instead of berba.. Worth it or just leave it? Team is in the link..cheers 🙂

      I quite like it!

I have Kolarov, I want Coleman, I have hangeland (fulham) Djourou is a bargain for now and walker looked dangerous at times going forwrd against brum and @ 4.0 ya can't go wrong with that!

      Its fine!

Sold t'other day. As I've said before this week [apologies for repetition] muscle tears on booting legs are always an absolute fecker of an injury. You think they're back and then they over-extend for the ball and boom another 3 weeks out.
I didn't lose much on him and could get in Berbatov so it was the sensible logical move pre-wildcard as he is only going south in price.
