After a three week absence, I finally managed to corner Mark and drag him kicking and screaming into the studio for another podcast. His resistance is understandable, the New Year hasn’t been quite so “happy” for our host and after Carlos did the business for me last weekend, Mark finds himself clinging to my coattails and the hope that the impending double Gameweek can prompt a change in fortunes.

The “Doubles” dominate the airwaves of this latest episode, providing the crux of this week’s “Discussion” and influencing the usual smattering of regulars – “All Aboard”, “The Weekend Preview” and even “Fantasy Island Risks”. Take four Villa players onto the Island? “Double Trouble” must have gone to our heads.

Yes, February 20th is "Hoodie-Hoo Day", when people in the northern hemisphere go out at noon, wave their hands over their heads and chant "Hoodie-Hoo". I kid you not.

      http://www.holidayinsights.com/other/hoo.htm

Alex Ferguson is very insistent that his players observe this ritual each year, although Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney both have severe difficulties each year in mastering the skill of raising both hands above their head at the same time without weeks of mental coaching.

Alternatively, it's the fifth round of the FA Cup that weekend.

    Hello mates

I have a big dilemma..I have to decide whom to play: Watson vs Nasri
    Can you help me decide?

I have RVP in the squad.

    Thanks!

        No he doesn't.

He'll start. He's first choice on hot form, and Wenger has played him 3 times in 10 days before.

I would play Nasri. As long as he's not rested I think he's a better bet to score than Watson in his double game week because the Arsenal game is not going to give him any opportunities to score.

      Lovely team.

Don't like Evatt though. A bit too expensive for a Blackpool defender considering the alternatives at a similar price (Djourou, Kelly, Simpson, Walker, Murphy)

It is a bit of a problem that you have Vaughan over Adam. Think Adam's BP drawing ability is consistency you can't disregard.

      Vidic > Evra
      Vaughan > Adam
      Evatt > Simpson/Murphy

      Nope.

Nasri might be at home, but his record when Fabs is playing is inferior and he might not get the whole game.

VdV is playing fresh against a Newcastle team without Tiote. He's a pretty reliable FF player.

      That's just individual breakdown.

Big dilemma. Rivals all have tevez, also one of which never changes him as captain.

Playing WC in GW26, Which includes Tevez(11.2,current value 11.5)

    Thinking about: Tevez>Rooney
    Rafael>Hangeland (Decent home fixture GW25)

Wildcarding both back in. Tevez has Villa away(they lost their other visit to the midlands, at Wolves) and Birmingham away (again midlands and notoriously tough place to go)

Rooney on the other hand has this double and a home clash against Villa (who always do pretty poorly against Man Utd) in gameweek 25.

Just seems scary given City and Tevez' current form and last performance. City have scored 2 goals or more in 5 outta 11 away games, and hav a higher Points Per Game on the road, with cricts saying it 'suits their style'

I'm at a loss, I'm 70 points off top spot in my mini league and this gamble could cut the gap dramatically if it pays off. worth it? My team is excellent for this Gameweek and probably next already, which doesn't help

70 pts are a lot. Im 50 pts off the pace in my league and will be doing the Tevez-->Rooney trade.

I'm in more of the mindset that I've likely got all of Utd's goal returns covered with Nani?Berba/Rooney.

It's a short term measure of course as the word overkill comes to mind...I have Nasri/Fab/RVp though because their fixtures are lush...Hmmmm!!

Its a big gamble but could well be worth it..

However, Tevez's best form has been away from home this season and he is fixture proof. I toyed with selling him this week, for RVP, and suggested it on here a few days but I got completely shot down so I'm going holding onto him.

I'm doing pretty well in my leagues though, so in that sense it was an easy call, but for you, well its a 50/50 call! Rooney has been wank all season and thats coming from a United fan.

yeah i'm Man Utd fan too and the only game he's played well in is the one before last, against Stoke. Hoping that that was a sign of things to come.

I was thinking exactly that inalize, berva/rvp/rooney then tevez back for home clash gw26 when i play my wildcard. my wildcard plan for gw 26/27/28 gives me a 0.6 leeway so I could feasibly take that loss on provided there's no dramtic increrase in these players:

        Ivanovic/Murphy/Carr/Foster/Brunt/Tevez/Rafael/Carroll.

Tevez, Foster and Ivanovic to increase 0.1 each maybe? I'll be transfering one of them in gwk 25 just in case, may even get baird instead of hangeland so I can do just that.

What do you think? Thanks again guys, I'm making the trades now cos might be otherwise engaged around the deadline

I dont like the thought of playing both Berba and Rooney tbh. One of them is more than enough, Torres might be a decent alternative, decent double gameweek this week with Stoke at home the following week. He might be a decent alternative?

Thank's for the suggestion, it has merit, unfortunately i had torres for around 8 gameweeks till recently and he did diddily squat, took him out for rvp last week.

I just don't think Liverpool are that good a team anymore and their low confidence isn't helping matters.

I think Djourou will keep a clean sheet, will concede in gwk 25 against Everton but it's a home game so every chance he won't, Newcastle away who knows and then he's primed to play in both games gwk 27, both of which look likely clean sheets

much as i hate liverpool and their form kelly at 4.2 has a decent chance of a cleanie, then stoke city at home gw 25.

i'd do cech>vds at least, dropping bale sounds bad though, critics predicting an entertaining game!

Yeah, i dont like dropping Bale, but I do also have Van Der Vaart so in that sense I still have Spurs covered but if Bale runs riot i'd never forgive myself!!

On the other hand, I also have Nasri and I think he may well be rested for the Wigan game so Bale would come in as my first sub but I can hardly rely on that!!

I hav Nasri as my 1st sub for that kind of dilemma 🙂

Chose to play Adam over Nasri as I have Fab n RVP as well

I see your struggling with the doubling up in positions issue yourself with Bale! Bale vs Danny Simpson? there's a question for you to pose to Atilla and Toon Tom 🙂

I think Dempsey has better fixtures, I would pick them to beat Stoke and against Liverpool anything could happen as we all know what they've been like lately.

Plus with Dempsey, theres a decent chance he will pick up some bonus points..

slim pickings but ferguson isnt a terrible option, BPS in virtually every Birmingham win or draw, and hes nailed on, which most players in that price range arent.

    morning mates.

just read tweet about carroll out for 2-3 more weeks? I feel like still holding on to him, but wondering if Im too worried about losing half a million by selling him. I could take a 4 point hit and get Rodallega or campbell in for a DGW, would mean sitting brunt at Rovers. Should I? How much more will carroll fall do you expect before he returns? What to do???

Im holding him. I paid 5 for him and so h would have to drop loads for me to buy back what Id have to sell him for. Im finding patience is a virtue in this game this year.

The way Spurs are playing no. I think we could get something from the game, but Id say they will probably score....

Our chances depend a fair bit on who plays DM, with Tiote and Smith out Gosling could play his first game or bloomin Guthrie maybe....

    Simpson or Murphy?

Rooney out for Tevez in GWK26 when i wildcard and City are at home to West Brom
