Charlie Adam has submitted an official transfer request to leave Blackpool with reports confirming the news within the last hour.

Adam has been subject to a mass of speculation of late with Liverpool believed to be in poll position for the Scot’s signature having tabled a bit though to be in the region of £4 million. Liverpool’s interest seems likely to have sparked this move from the Blackpool skipper.

This is hugely significant news for Fantasy Managers with Adam nestled in many squads ahead of Blackpool’s double fixture in Gameweek 24. Adam was due to take the field against Man United tomorrow night, having scored in Blackpool’s first fixture in the 2-1 defeat to Sunderland. Adam would now seem very unlikely to see action against United, disappointing the thousands who backed him for the two fixtures.

In the longer term, a possible move to Anfield would also have a huge impact on Adam’s potential as a Fantasy asset. Adam may well have scored his fourth goal of the season against the Black Cats at the weekend but these goals have all come from the penalty spot – he has so far relied on a staggering total of 32 Bonus Points in the FPL to boost his points tally and establish himself as a 21% owned midfielder. It would seem very unlikely that he could maintain his rate of Bonus scoring within a Liverpool lineup alongside the likes of Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres and Raul Meireles. In addition, Adam would certainly not assume spot-kick duties ahead of Gerrard. That’s presuming of course that Adam would win a regular start in Kenny Dalglish’s side.

Should the move to Liverpool materialise, Fantasy Managers would have to monitor Adam’s prospects very closely in order to assess the effect on his return potential. Right now, a drop in interest and heavy sales would seem a likely outcome.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Are you Tedd's related? You look alike.

Torres OUT Berbatov IN (I have Rooney, and having watched where he was playing on the pitch at the weekend I am convinced Berbatov will score more over the course of the season, despite a few rests probably)

Can't falt the team other than that, was fiddling with my team earlier and having Odem and Brunt just looks wrong! But so right.

Berba @ Old trafford with Rooney playing as well is a formula for massive points..!! Next time united have a game like that is in Gw 30 so I think I will wait with Berba 'til then. United have dgw in gw 28 and I am not sure if Berba will play away against Chelsea.

Thinking of using Torres in gw 27 and ship him out for Rooney or Berba in gw 28.

But that all depends if A´nal will go to the carling cup finals.

      6.5 or 7 I guess.

And yes, I think that would mean Ivan would be right back.

A problem for Luiz would be Alex returning from injury.

Could be a few Chelsea players heading in the other direction too. Ferreira and Kalou have been mentioned, as well the likes of Bruma and van Aanholt on loan.

Carvalho, Terry than Alex. Defender (center backs) needs to get run of games in order to form partnership. He was always injured. In the times we needed him I repeat he was never there. HE scores some great free kick goals and that's why you are having that impression. He had run of starts only under lucky Gus.

Its like saying Ledley King and Woodgate are great defenders. Yeah they are great but when was the last time You saw them playing for Tot?

And Alex's injury record isn't nearly as bad as Woodgate's or King's.

P.S. We need to sign another attacking mid (Like Ballack IMO). That should be priority.

As a Benfica fan I still don't believe David Luiz going to Chelsea now....maybe in the summer.
Chelsea wants to do a money+player deal, and benfica is only interested in money.Since one of the players talked is paulo ferreira, which we DO NOT like at all (and it's starting to get old), and the other is Kalou, which I do not believe we can afford the salary... therefore, unless chelsea pays more, I think david luiz will stay in benfica!

Adam would be a good signing for Liverpool in the sense that they need to replace the Amonso role who comes deep/is always available for the ball to spray around a la quarterback style.

Thing is he will be poor in FF terms. No pens. Competing for BP's with Gerrard, Torres and co. And will prob now if he goes lose that other DGW with 2 home games with Blackpool soon.

I'm not sure he's worth it with all this in mind. May be worth getting a player who is the centre of a team (like Brunt, N'Zog, Dempsey type who hog BP's and are always involved). Suppose we'll have to see if he goes Liverpool for sa start (but I don't blame him for trying to test himself at higher level).

If he does play as a deep lying playmaker then he absolutely need Lucas alongside him, and would leave just one slot in the middle for Gerrard/Meireles, unless Gerrard is forced to play out wide, which he'd hate.

Unless Adam is purely back up, I can't understand the transfer personally. He isn't better than Lucas, Meireles or Gerrard, and the reason he's thriving at Blackpool is because the whole team is based around him, which won't be the case at Liverpool.

Whether he is or isn't, isn't actually relevant... Liverpool simply can't play Adam, Gerrard and Meireles as the middle three because none of them are competent defensively, Lucas has to be in there to provide cover for the other two, whoever they may be.

Beside that he is better that Lucas, can play better than Meireles as a central midfielder and will free Gerrard to his supporting striker role. His (Steve) fantasy output has seriously decreased when Alonso left and he had to come deep in order to organize and receive the ball. In the Alonso time he knew it that he will have the ball in the right time at the right place and that is why he had all those goals. Great signing, King Kenny u've done it again. Now all u need is mr. Suarez, Torres is back in form, good job!!!

Surely not?! He was completely wasted out there under Hodgson...

For the me the money, if Adam signing does happen of course, would be much better spent finally buying a decent winger or two. A midfield of Lucas, Meireles and Gerrard without Torres upfront is pretty impressive, just the wingers aren't good enough.

Although you do need back up, other than Poulsen and Spearing, for those three, which is why I personally think that Adam has been signed.

although i rate lucas and meireles very highly on ething champ said the other day did stick in my mind and that is adam is very similar to xabi alonso so his style might really suit liverpool. he could get the ball from defense to gerrard as quickly as alonso did back in the day.
problem is back then they had mascherano too. lucas is the best defensively of the 3 (4 with adam) so it all a bit of a mess to me.

I think King's smart move is to put Gerrard wide and Meireles attacking mid. Its Steven best position but he hates it. He won't say no to the King IMO. G.J. has played left back so and why Steve couldn't. Another option is Suarez playing out wide, cause he was doing that with the national team.

P.S. Aren't we forgetting that Adam is defensive midfielder after all, with great ability to pass.

                And no ability to defend...

And since when is Gerrard's best position on the wing?!

Oh, and the Suarez deal is completely dead. Liverpool's valuation of him is about £8 million below what Ajax want for him. The Dutch media are reporting that there's no longer any chance of deal.

Totally agree that wingers are the main priority at Liverpool.

The thing is, Kenny has already shown he's willing to give Poulsen and Spearing games from time to time, and both actually looked OK in their recent run-outs. I can't see Adam coming in and nailing down a starting spot. The Alonso comparioson doesn't really fit - he's nowhere near as good.

£4m for a decent backup midfielder is probably about the going rate. But Liverpool don't need to bulk up their squad at this point, they need to improve the first team. So this would be a good transfer in the summer, but I'm not so sure about now.

Jamsiep I don't know if you now this but Lucas was brought as one of the greatest young attacking mids in the Rafa era.

"Lucas is the former captain of the Brazilian Under-20 team. He led the team to victory in the 2007 South American Youth Championship, scoring 4 goals in the process."

That bloody Rafa has ruined him and and forced him to play deep and ruined his carеer. That is Rafa best - ruining footballers carеerс. If wasn't for stubborn Rafa we wouldn't having this conversation at all.

                    Massive plus one.

Whilst Rafa was tactically superb, he was a terrible mentor for young exciting players because he stifled all creativity out of them by makiing them play to such a rigid system that played to the strength of the only two players who were allowed to take risks in the team Torres and Gerrard.

Lucas and Babel are great examples of this, both were massive talents before arriving at Liverpool.

Can anyone suggest a mid priced midfielder or cheap striker for a punt for the next 2 game weeks only (will be wcing for gw27)? I'm thinking of getting rid of Adam (if he goes) or Carroll (if he's still out).

Very similar to myself, I have Nasri/Kolarov/Evra where you have Fabs/Djourou/Rafael... but my next transfers will be Evra&Ferguson > Rafael&N'Zogbia, just to beef the squad up a bit when inevitable injuries/suspensions kick in.

So think you're looking pretty good... good to see Rooney in over Berbatov!

Hopefully Adam rises tonight before any move as the savvy will probably ditch if he goes anywhere, what with the penalty duties and BP magnetism disappearing – He’d be placed onto a different FPL dartboard and I wouldn’t fancy his chances of being hit so much.

I haven’t access to Fantasy Tools at present so I can’t check but did Bent rise in price after he joined Villa? I know new signings have a protected period if they have come from a club outside the Premiership (ie Dzeko), but when the transfer is between Prem clubs is the situation different?

Liverpool have been poor this season but is Adam better than Gerrard, Meireles or Lucas, the guys he would be vying for a place with? (Having said that, Poulsen cost £4mill and I’d take Adam a hundred times over that mistake of a footballer).

The potential effectiveness of Adam (if he goes of course) would also be altered depending on the system Dalglish chooses to play. If Suarez or A.N.Other is brought in to partner Torres up front the system would adapt to the preference of Dalglish.

I know I’ll get slated by many for including Lucas in the above list but Adam isn’t as defensively aware as Lucas (despite the latter committing many infuriatingly annoying fouls). And make no mistake, he would need to improve that aspect of his game if Gerrard is reinstated solely in the middle of the park, bearing in mind he is likely to get forward at the first opportunity.

Suarez won't be going. Liverpool have offered 15m and Ajax quite rightly are demanding 30m.

Additionally they aren't a bigger club and aren't in the champions league

I think Suarez is a longshot too, but if you don’t ask you don’t get now do you? Mr Henry may want to make a significant signing first up too. The transfer window is a crazy time after all. We shall see!

Loose Rooney, not going to get the returns of RVP, Torres, Berb or even Carroll as he is playing as a foil to Berbatov rather than the main goalscorer. You can then reinvest funds by upgrading albrighton to a cahill, walcott, dempsey range player who will get more starts and bag more bid points hauls.
