Arsenal’s progress to Carling Cup Final courtesy of the 3-0 win over Ipswich at the Emirates tonight has disrupted the Gunners’ Premier League schedule – although that issue may well be temporary.

The Carling Cup Final is to be played on Sunday February 27 – a weekend that was to see Arsenal face off against Spurs in the North London derby at White Hart Lane. This fixture in Gameweek 28 will now be postponed, although it could well be reinstated in the same Gameweek.

Gameweek 28 has already been extended with Man United facing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday March 1. It seems likely that Arsenal’s clash with Spurs will be shifted to a similar midweek slot, thus keeping their Gameweek 28 fixture intact.

This is all speculation of course, right now we’ve no confirmation of the rescheduled date and, with that in mind, Fantasy Managers should be wary of the possibility of an Arsenal and Spurs blank in Gameweek 28. With the Gunners facing a double fixture in Gameweek 27, this would indeed be a cruel twist.

Birmingham and West Ham meet in the second Carling Cup semi-final tomorrow night with West Ham leading 2-1. The Hammers are due to face Liverpool in Gameweek 28, while Birmingham are currently facing Chelsea at the Bridge. Both those games are therefore in doubt depending on tomorrow night’s result. Should Birmingham progress then Chelsea’s current double Gameweek would switch to a single fixture against United.

We will update our Season Tickers following tomorrow’s result.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

well a bit, maybe in weeks to come he might struggle with quite a bit of fulham and liverpool coverage. But this week has bought him some points to burn to fix it imo

True. But I was thinking not having the likes of Tevez and fabregas in his team will damage him and would also be hard to get them in. More hoping actually but yeh I agree he has done well and has points to burn in prep for gw27.

"I'm sure if you add up all the times Utd got those kind of decisions and how much it affected the final score, then deducted the points won through them, Arsenal would be on top of the league now. Of course, Utd have had a few, not many, but a few decisions go against them, which fans will no doubt say balances this stuff out, but those decisions rarely affect the outcome.

Utd must be paying a lot of refs. I wouldn't be surprised, the red devils have strong links to the capitalist elite in this world, the AIG illuminati connection is in your face, its not surprising they get preferential treatment."

Comment from an arsenal fan on 606.

Surely this bilge must get on neutral fans' nerves as well? I'll accept that the big teams do perhaps tend to get the rub of the green, but are we really saying that united are pulling the strings of all the PL refs!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I think the best example of this paranoia was when we beat city 4-3 at OT. All the Citeh fans were convinced we were cheats, but actually motd showed the "added added time" was entirely within the laws.

Tbh I do to an extent, but I think its the same for the top four. The reason why Utd get most of the stick is because they have been the better team over the years, therefore got more results. Thats where the player haters come in i.e gooner fans, chelsea, liverpool fans etc

      I really shouldn't get involved........

How many points have Chelsea got this season directly because of decisions going their way? I can't think of any that are glaringly obvious, although I'm sure someone will make a fuss about some borderline handball offence.

What about Utd? Away at Stoke, where Neville should have been sent off. Away at WBA, where Neville again should have been sent off and conceded a penalty. Tonight, Blackpool would have gone 3-0 up with that penalty, game over.

Walton booking Adam tonight, only after Fergie having a go at him, sums it all up. Referees live in fear of him and Man Utd in general.. European referees don't cower to the pressure, like when Rafael got sent off against Bayern, and when that happened Utd fans across the country didn't have a clue to react because they aren't used to decisions going against them.

Do you want Utd supporters to list examples where decisions have gone against us this season? Really?

Is that what it takes to make you realise you are just a bitter numbnuts who can't accept Utd have been the best team this season (so far) when you were predicting us to finish, what was it, 4th? 3rd? in the drogs ballacks word press in August. Just eat your words, show some humility and admit you were wrong. You can't use the "I'm a yoof therefore i can say stupid sh*t" for much longer.

I think it balances out, remember the birmingham equaliser, should've been 3pts for united and berbatov match winner. Today united had some help and berbatov did end up match winner so the scales balance.

Sorry for the long post, but heres some work done by a former lecturer of mine (best give him credit - Robbie Butler)

Anyway, its all about top four favourtism and was written during the 09 10 season, so when it says last saeason it means 08 09 , anyway for those of you interested..

"The first game of the new 2009-2010 Premier League season hit the 90 minute mark with Chelsea 1 – 1 Hull City. Enter the 4th official who was instructed by referee Alan Wiley to play a minimum of 6 minutes of injury time. Didier Drogba scores the winner and everyone goes home happy.

Last season, excluding games where they played each other, the “Big Four” never played less than four minutes of injury time when losing. No other club in the league was afforded this additional time when behind after ninety minutes.

When drawing a match the “Big Four” never played less than three minutes of additional time. Excluding games between themselves the only instances where the “Big Four” played two or less minutes of additional time was when they were winning. None of the other sixteen Premier League clubs were afforded this luxury and played two minutes of additional time sometimes when winning, sometimes when drawing, sometimes when losing.

Eight of the twenty premiership teams got the ideal structure of additional time. That is they got the most additional time when they were losing, followed by the medium amount when they were drawing, and the least when they were ahead. These eight teams included the “Big Four”

For instance, last season Manchester United and Chelsea played less than three minutes of additional time on average when winning, roughly three and a half minutes when drawing and four minutes when losing. Only twice did Arsenal have to play five or more minutes of additional time when winning. Odd I hear you say? Not when you consider who they were playing; Liverpool and Man United. Liverpool were behind twice after ninety minutes last season and played four and five minutes of additional time in each game. The highest average in the league."

You can bend statistics to say anything you want them to. I could come up with something equal to that, by hand-picking certain stats to fit my argument, AGAINST the top 4*

          absolutely ollie,
maybe you are right. Maybe the “Big Four” just make more substitutions when they are losing. Maybe “Big Four” players are more injury prone when losing and more so again when away from home. Maybe players with the other twenty Premier League clubs are just as likely to require treatment whether winning, drawing or losing. Maybe these players pick up more injuries when winning against the “Big Four” therefore more additional time is required.

What about the alternative? Maybe the “Big Four” have so much influence over referees, that officials feel pressurised into playing more time when the “Big Four” are losing. Here’s one to think about. Man United beat Everton 1 – 0 at Old Trafford last season. Two minutes of injury time were played at the end of ninety minutes. Three substitutes were made. The same amount as were made when they beat Aston Villa 3 – 2 with the game tied at 2 – 2 entering time added on. Five minutes were played against Villa.

            True, its a good point,

in either case, whether favourtism is proven or not,

i just think chelsea and united receive the same amount.

As for rafeals red tonight, when i was looking at it in real time, i thought he was just imposing himself on the player, looking at in the replays, yeah looked like a red, but i can see why the ref made that decision
and to be fair, a lot of referess are afraid to make these decisions today
but refs in general have become a poor standard

and your comment that european refs are less afraid, maybe european refs are just less afraid to make tough decisions in general, again i dont see this united bias

If I do get rid this week then it would only be for RvP, and then Torres > Tevez the week after.

RVP will be fine for the next two league games but after that rotation is going to be massive problem. May just get him in now for a couple of price rises and then get rid when I wildcard.

Might have to take action on my plans to trade Nasri out for GW 27 if they don't play 28 then... And here's to West Ham going through as I need Foster to play...

Haven't looked at price changes for ages but 65% probably means he won't but anything is possible.

I wouldn't worry. He's been hovering around there for about a week now and hasn't dropped. Plus he is apparently 'protected' so he should be ok, at least for tonight. Luckily i won't lose anything off my selling value even if he does eventually drop

anyone thinking of giving foster the armband for 27 if they get the triple? worst case scenario is 12 points

best case could be played 270 6
    clean s 4
saves 13 4 x2 = 28 that would be amazing for your keeper!

Was thinking about bringing him in, but Birmingham have been letting in goals for fun and with Dann injured..

Best case scenario: I misunderstood your post
Worst case scenario: I understood your post and you actually believe that Foster wont be able to get more than 14 points from 3 matches?

I have dabbled with the idea of capping him, but propably wont with Dann out and Brum struggling to get clean sheets. Im more likely to go for the boring choice: RVP

not saying he could not get more. it was a realistic best case scenario. if he got two cleans,15 saves that would be 36 points for your keeper. stoke aint exactly scoring all around them and birmingham are much stronger defensively at home

I haven't seen Utd last 2 games, although i saw highlights of the pen not given today, joke! But how has Nani been playing? Seems like everything is going through Utd' left side now Rooney is back. Thinking of shipping him out as i have 2 other Utd players.

plenty going down united's right, but nani's not firing. He's gone back into his old habits of indecision and poor crossing......

Ah right, like i said i haven't seen the highlights, just going by what i've read on the live commentary and it seems Rooney and Giggs were constantly mentioned. Still 8 goals and he only played a part in 1, slight concern.
