Liverpool have officially confirmed that a fee of the transfer of Fernando Torres to Chelsea has been agreed.

The sum involved has yet to be confirmed but, according to reports and day-long speculation, we can expect something in the region of £50 million. Incredible. Torres is currently on his way to Stamford Bridge where he will be expected to undergo a medical and discuss terms ahead of tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.

This move was always going to be pivotal to the day’s events and so it proved, with Liverpool reacting to Chelsea’s move for their striker 48-hours ago by agreeing an incredible £35 million deal for Newcastle’s Andy Carroll. Expectations have been shattered along with transfer records on a quite staggering transfer deadline day.

A full summary of the day’s events will follow and, once we have confirmation, we will also bring you Scout Reports on both Torres and Carroll, assessing their potential at their new clubs.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

what are you talkin about? you barely spent anything now w/torres money and have two really good young and hungry strikers to replace an unhappy torres who had fallen out of form and will have only gone down in value. you really think they could have made more than 50M for him now, especially given all his recent injuries? a defender's nightmare = carroll/suarez.

that will depend on the rest of this season. Carlo will try and make it work with both of them. But I see us going for Aguero in the Summer. We would still get a fair old fee for Drogba this summer if he decides he wants one more big move.

Nolan would be relatively unaffected by Carroll's departure on paper. He doesn't generally assist or get assisted by Carroll. In fact the only Toon player it will massively impact is Joey Barton who assisted 5 of Carrolls last 8 goals.
Mentally though who knows how it will affect them.

Yep, tis farcical. However I'm happier to go without rather than some of the names being touted - Owen, Bendtner, Agbonlahor, Heskey, Elmander.

Just be sure about Walker -- may be better to get a cheap DGW player, who is a sure starter at close to that price.

Also, Torres is your choice ( I think he will fall a tenth in value), just know that the alternative is: Torres vs RVP or Berb and then maybe improve Nzog-- your choice. Good luck.

Torres represents the past, history of injuries who may never get back to his best and could creat a rift with all the other sulking Chelsea prima Donnas. Liverpool have got maximum cash for a player that will only get worse from now and invested in a younger do or die enthusiastic player with a bright future. Both are risks but one is a positive gamble that just may pay off.

            "Hand over ears" Lalalala

Torres left cos Liverpool didnt meet his ambitions .Stop talking nonsense about him being a spent force just cos it sits better than accepting he wanted to be at a club who can give him CL football and a chance at silver ware.

Odds are he could have stayed at Liverpool the rest of his career and never won anything.

              also,he's been shit recently.

Also, he's got alot of injuries racked up.

Most importantly, Liverpool were never gonna get any more than 50 million for him unless he swallowed a faberge egg, so as much as i disdain all this King Kenny buullshit, this has been one brilliant bit of business for kenny. I'd take Carrol and the other chap over torres in a heartbeat any day of the week, pretty much over the past wo seasons
