Liverpool have officially confirmed that a fee of the transfer of Fernando Torres to Chelsea has been agreed.

The sum involved has yet to be confirmed but, according to reports and day-long speculation, we can expect something in the region of £50 million. Incredible. Torres is currently on his way to Stamford Bridge where he will be expected to undergo a medical and discuss terms ahead of tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.

This move was always going to be pivotal to the day’s events and so it proved, with Liverpool reacting to Chelsea’s move for their striker 48-hours ago by agreeing an incredible £35 million deal for Newcastle’s Andy Carroll. Expectations have been shattered along with transfer records on a quite staggering transfer deadline day.

A full summary of the day’s events will follow and, once we have confirmation, we will also bring you Scout Reports on both Torres and Carroll, assessing their potential at their new clubs.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I think Figo in the current climate would have gone for a lot more, Liverpool have paid OTT amount for Carroll but the way i see it we have got him for £15m less than Torres which is worth it on this seasons performances thus far.

Carroll has something about him, like it or not, this transfer is no different to UTD signing Rooney from Everton, prices have inflated since then.

He will go on to have a very good career so long as he wants to, watch the games, he is unplayable when he wants to be and is only 22.

I wonder what the rest of the world must think of this whole Andy Carroll business. I bet hardly anyone outside of the British isles has heard of him, let alone watched him play. To see him as the 7th most expensive player ever, after just 5 months in the top flight of English football. That really is extrodinary.

Have you heard of a striker named Alan Shearer?

Dalglish spent a lot of money on him at the time, ended up winning him the league and turning into quite a good striker, I think Kenny might know a thing or two about strikers you know.

Re the rest of the world, I'm sure they would have heard of England International Andy Carroll, if they haven't then they will probably know about the Slag Shagging one.
