Liverpool have officially confirmed that a fee of the transfer of Fernando Torres to Chelsea has been agreed.

The sum involved has yet to be confirmed but, according to reports and day-long speculation, we can expect something in the region of £50 million. Incredible. Torres is currently on his way to Stamford Bridge where he will be expected to undergo a medical and discuss terms ahead of tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.

This move was always going to be pivotal to the day’s events and so it proved, with Liverpool reacting to Chelsea’s move for their striker 48-hours ago by agreeing an incredible £35 million deal for Newcastle’s Andy Carroll. Expectations have been shattered along with transfer records on a quite staggering transfer deadline day.

A full summary of the day’s events will follow and, once we have confirmation, we will also bring you Scout Reports on both Torres and Carroll, assessing their potential at their new clubs.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

          So far it is

          Howard, Robinson/Szczesny
          Coleman, Djourou/Blackburn/Villa/Brum, Rafael, Simpson, Kelly
          Adam/Dempsey, Young, Nani, Fabregas, VDV
          Tevez, Odemwingie, RVP

As you see I'm unsure about one defensive position and I will wait and see what happens with Charlie Adam. I might go for the Arsenal keeper instead of Robinson too. I really like the doubling of Howard and Coleman so that's staying.

Im sure you've thought about it and others have mentioned but u might need to watch Kellys position with Carra back, he doesn't deserve to be dropped but it's gonna be him, Skrtel or Agger being dropped, I'd be surprised if it wasn't Kelly.

Oh I'm sort of pleased, my team had Nasri, Bale, Torres, Adam, Crainey in it. All either doubtful or transferred / unsettled, so wanted to make wholesale changes, the difficulty whether you play it now or GW27 is GW28 is a stinker. Very hard to manage, the small benefit with playing it now is I can bank 2 transfers for it.

yeah i do think they would have been worse off without him. But they have other important players and team spirit is vital. If one player is offered an incentive separate to the others the team spirit may be damaged. Perhaps it would be better to offer each first team squad (that plays more than 20 games) a £500k bonus if they stay up??

      But he won't though.

He'll try and hold him to his 18 mth deal. He'll also p*ss Adam off by over massively over-inflating his value when the big clubs come calling.

Depends what he's been told in private. From his point of view, you can say he's been towing the club's line, keeping his head down, working hard for the team until a "big club" comes in for him. Now that that has happened and he's still not being allowed to move, must wrangle a bit.

I'll be keeping a very close eye on the West Ham game, let's put it that way.

Blackpool could go into free fall if this transfer isn't handled correctly.

On the back of my 127 points last week..........I seem to be in the minority, I have got no problems with fielding a strong side this week with no players missing and am looking forward to doing my wildcard next week over a long smooth cup of coffee.......leaving me with 2 transfers in week 28 to tweak out a couple of the 'blankers'.......don't see what all the fuss is about.......!

          Not really, Karlos.

VdV has no game in GW28 and Everton has a double in GW29. Thats 3 games for Cahill v 1 for Van der Vaart.

          Makes good sense to me.

I've been saying this for several days now. I think its Defoe, Lennon and Modric that have all eaten into his points lately. I just can't see him getting the big scores he was getting earlier on in the season.

I'm looking at getting rid with my wildcard, probably for Etherington, so that I can free up cash for the front line du jour of Tevez, Berbs and Van Persie.

VDV has Wolves(A), West Hame(H), Wigan(A) after GW28 and you're not going to want to lose Cahill after just one game so rethink the move.

2207: DONE DEAL Everton have confirmed the signing of Greek teenager Apostolos Vellios. The 19-year-old striker has joined from Greek side Iraklis Thessaloniki for a nominal fee.

I don't think Distin, Baines or Heitinga are awful value at all. Yakubu scored plenty before he got his bad injury. Bily obviously is hard to argue. The reason the media go on about it is because Moyes gets us into the top 6, even top 4, on relatively little when compared to the likes of Villa, City, Spurs plus the other 4. Usually to get the money he has had to sell players (Bily, Heitinga and Distin all came in from the Lescott money)

      Hi Folks,

Shipping Bale out before price fall tonight.

      Thinking Walcott. Already have Fab.

      Good/bad. Any other suggestions ?

      Cheers

Good. There's A Young, Cahill (next week would be better) and Yaya Toure too.

Who to (c) this week... Fab or RVP

My main rival has neither, most likely Djourou and Walcott atm.

Have both RVP and Fabs and am leaning towards Fabs at the mo... difficult one though.
