Fernando Torres appears to be the brink of a £50 million move to Chelsea in a British transfer record that will illuminate deadline day.

The Liverpool striker worked alone at Liverpool’s training Melwood training ground yesterday, presenting an image that fuelled speculation further.

Torres is believed to have an agreement with Liverpool that would free him up from his contract if a bid of £50 million is tabled for him. Chelsea are thought to be weighing up such a bid to take the striker to Stamford Bridge. Should Roman Abramovich come up with the magic number, it is believed that Liverpool would reluctantly allow the Spaniard to leave.

Liverpool themselves are looking to confirm the signing of Luis Suarez today after the Uruguayan striker came through his medical. Blackpool’s Charlie Adam remains a target with Ian Holloway stating that his departure remains a possibility, while there are also reports that Villa’s Ashley Young, subject to yesterday’s Watchlist article, is also being targeted with an £18 million bid being prepared. The Telegraph report that Liverpool have already tabled a £12 million package for Young that was rejected by Villa only yesterday.

With the transfer deadline at 11pm this evening, we could well be in for a frenzy of activity – particularly if Chelsea flood the market with a record fee for Torres.

Many Fantasy Managers will be hoping for plenty of activity, particularly those still sitting on Wildcards and even those who have yet to eject the injured Samir Nasri from their squads. With a number of renowned Fantasy targets subject to speculation and the promise of new arrivals to the Premier League, today’s events may well have a marked affect on the Fantasy potential of several players and clubs.

Keep an eye on the tweets for the latest moves as they break; we will collect the most significant events of the day in a Window Watch round-up.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

yeah, strange turn of events isnt it..???

Where do they play Torres in a single striker system../??

Are they thinking of ejecting Drogba next summer and make him the focal point of their attack..???

    Questions, questions, questions...

Also this whole Charlie Adam thing. It always confuses me why players who are getting regular first team football and playing well always want away to a bigger club where they are more than likely going to end up being a rotation player. Is it all down to the cash?

I think in this case, Adam believes he could probably break into the starting XI at Liverpool and help them get to Europe.

Which is obviously better then playing for nothing really at Blackpool.

Adam, a bench player at Liverpool? I think he would straight in there as a first team regular if they do get him.

Partly, but he won't see it like that.

He'll be thinking if he goes there and performs, he can make himself first choice for Liverpool.

Despite being awful for however long, they're still a huge club that plenty of players, particularly Brits, would jump at the chance to play for.

It's good! However, Nani and Berbatov have 4 away games in 5 after Villa whereas Tevez has 3 easy home games (WBA,FUL,WIG)in 4. I would be worried not to have him (or any other ManC) in my team.

Cheers mate! I had Tevez in mind but putting him instead of Berbatov means that I have to change Rafael - Jara or Simpson.

so Tevez + Jara/Simpson or Berbatov + Rafael?

good morning, i need some opinions please, WCing, currently looks like this:

    Foster/Begovic

    Rafael/Coleman/Carr/Djourou/Kelly

    Fabregas/Nani/VDV/Adam/Brunt

    Tevez/Berbatov/RVP .2 in bank

this squad is designed for GW27 and the idea of having 2 saved transfers for GW28. That means I have 1 freebie to use or not until GW 28.

What you lads think about szczesny? see the wenger quote? was thinking of swapping out foster and djourou for szczesny and r johnson. Doesnt this make more sense or is szczesny's spot not as safe as being named #1 would imply? Seems better to have a nailed on defender with a questionable keeper than the other way round. Plus with begovic, worst case scenario, a 2nd double GW keeper is available for GW 27.
So with that 1 free transfer was thinking of bringing in a defender for 5.2 or less with a better fixture this GW then make the switch to R Johnson. So far Hughes jumps out as a Fulham option in a GW where I cant see many other CS potential. Wise?

    FINALLY,

I have to bench one out of that front 8, I currently have brunt as 1st sub. the only other option i feel is VDV, but i hate to do that, however with Bale's absence and spurs offense looking lost yesterday, Im wondering if this is the week to do the unthinkable and bench VDV.

Cheers and apologies in advance when i inevitably repost this later this morning.

Looks a good squad to me, I feel your pain re benching VDV - I'm in a similar position with VDV/Odemwingie. For what it's worth, I'm currently planning to bench VDV, purely because they're away from home.

My other comment would be that your defence lacks any real nailed-on every week starters. I know we now see Kelly, Coleman etc as first-choice, but they're just not quite 100% and you could end up with several rested if you're unlucky.

agreed there are defensive question marks, thats why i felt better about a nailed on defender/Szczesny, vs djourou/foster. I have VDV currently 1st sub and brunt starting now. lets hope a brunt assist/odem goal!!! 3bps for brunt though 🙂

      That's my team!

But yeah, we share 11 out of 15 and your remaining choices are solid enough.

Carr is the only one that's looking a bit weak. I don't like Carr. Offers nothing but Brum 90 points, and he's a card magnet. Sort of like choosing Ferdinand over Evra or Vidic.

what do you think of szczesny/r johnson vs foster/djourou? then i may take carr out for another chap. Carr would be my 5th option on bench except for the 3 DGWs, then hes the first to go.

    Anyway chaps a little advice please. I don't really see the need to transfer anyone this week, just wondered if you guys could point out any glaring problems. Always good to get a 2nd opinion;

    Szczesny Everton (H)

    Evra Aston Villa (H)
    Hughes Newcastle (H)
    Kelly Stoke City (H)

    Van der Vaart Blackburn (A)
    Dempsey Newcastle (H)
    Fabrega Everton (H)
    Nani Aston Villa (H)

    Van Persie Everton (H)
    Campbell West Ham (H)
    Tevez Birmingham (A)

i know this will sound mental but i would table a bid of cash + drogba to liverpool for torres...

anekla and torres would be lethal together, but drog and torres dont seem to fit.

drogba would seem to be in his last season or two of dominace at chelsea anyway yet he isnt so finished that he has no currency for a trade.

i really fear for chelsea if anekla goes (thats not if he is all le sulk about being mentioned as bait already) his input to the team structure is really underestimated i reckon, his quality is missed when he doesnt play, those times when he was out injured happened to coininde with the poor spell blamed on wilkins but i reckon it had something to do with it also.

chelsea, dont use anekla as a trade weight!

I respectfully completely disagree with you! I think Drogba and Torres could be a lethal combination and I think that Anelka and Torres would not work. I think Anelka has very little effect this season and if Ski could offlead him as part of the deal then it would be great for them.

Yeah I disagree as well ... Anelka and Torres are too much alike. Both pacy and like to play on the shoulder of defenders. Drogba and Torres would make a frighting combination IMO ... in a Beauty and the Beast kind of way ... LOL

    Current team :

    Foster (Carson)

    (Foley) Hangelaand Cashley (Jara) Bardsley

    VDV Nani Dempsey Nasri Adam

    (Carroll) VPersie Rooney

thinking of a 8 point hit, Torres in for Rooney, Kelly in for Cashley and Fabregas for Nasri.

The other two sounds good apart from the fact that its a shame to take points hits when you have just taken the lead.

Let me know your thoughts my team is linked, I know I have missed the rises but cannot be helped..

1 hit gets a defender & Nasri out. Kolarov could easily start along with VDV.

This might be one of the best deadline days EVER. I'll load up with crisps and drinks and sit here all day just watching it!

    Arg! Pre-WC jitters.

3 up top or 5 in midfield? Is Berbatov going to keep scoring?

Gordon and Huth or Begovic and Kolarov?

    Etherington or Brunt?

    GAAAAAAAAAA
