Fernando Torres appears to be the brink of a £50 million move to Chelsea in a British transfer record that will illuminate deadline day.

The Liverpool striker worked alone at Liverpool’s training Melwood training ground yesterday, presenting an image that fuelled speculation further.

Torres is believed to have an agreement with Liverpool that would free him up from his contract if a bid of £50 million is tabled for him. Chelsea are thought to be weighing up such a bid to take the striker to Stamford Bridge. Should Roman Abramovich come up with the magic number, it is believed that Liverpool would reluctantly allow the Spaniard to leave.

Liverpool themselves are looking to confirm the signing of Luis Suarez today after the Uruguayan striker came through his medical. Blackpool’s Charlie Adam remains a target with Ian Holloway stating that his departure remains a possibility, while there are also reports that Villa’s Ashley Young, subject to yesterday’s Watchlist article, is also being targeted with an £18 million bid being prepared. The Telegraph report that Liverpool have already tabled a £12 million package for Young that was rejected by Villa only yesterday.

With the transfer deadline at 11pm this evening, we could well be in for a frenzy of activity – particularly if Chelsea flood the market with a record fee for Torres.

Many Fantasy Managers will be hoping for plenty of activity, particularly those still sitting on Wildcards and even those who have yet to eject the injured Samir Nasri from their squads. With a number of renowned Fantasy targets subject to speculation and the promise of new arrivals to the Premier League, today’s events may well have a marked affect on the Fantasy potential of several players and clubs.

Keep an eye on the tweets for the latest moves as they break; we will collect the most significant events of the day in a Window Watch round-up.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Could I trouble you all for some selection dilemmas this week?

    Al-Habsi or Foster?

VDV, Dempsey or Odemwingie? (2 to start, 1 for bench)

    Djourou or Coleman?

    Much obliged...

I've benched Coleman over Djourou. Still weighing up VDV vs. Dempsey for my start. Had VDV but apparently he left pitch early last night as was not looking sharp so have consequently put Dempsey into starting 11.

    Djourou and Foster

    OR

R johnson and Szczesny -- .2 cheaper, nailed on defender no rotation risk, wenger backed szczesny as his #1 and begovic is my 2nd keeper who has a DGW27 in case szczesny loses his spot. I keep weighing the two and the latter option makes more sense. But Id love to have someone explain why the first option is better. i want the perfect WC damnit.

djourou seems like an eventual rotation risk, wenger says he doesnt want him playing twice in any given week, which hes already been forced to do, plus the effect of szczesny losing his spot would be less damaging to my starting XI, as begovic has some decent fixtures including the double GW27. plus i can field a better team for this week as i like szczesny better than foster or begovic this week.

i dont mean to say stokes fixtures are kind for their double, just that you could do alot worse as an insurance policy to have a 2nd keeper with a double. but now there is talk that sorensen may challenge for the spot again. Christ I cant finalize this damn thing.

Ah sure, I'd forgotten about that "not play Djourou twice"-comment. I'd only want him for GW 27 but if he only plays one of those games then maybe that's not such a good idea after all.

How do you plan to handle GW 28?

I think my bench that week will be Foster, RJohnson, VdV and whoever rises the most out of RvP and Fabs.

The funny thing is that Camzy has Foster and Al Habsi not Begovic.

Stoke, Newcastle and Sunderland all rotate well with Birmingham.

I think I'm staying away from Djourou and Arsenal keeper on my wildcard. None look guaranteed starters going forward now.

My original plan was Foster and Harper and I may well go back to that keeper rotation when I wildcard this weekend. At least you know where you are with those 2 keepers.

This Torres transfer might force my hand to wildcard. Already have Nasri out and 2 defenders I never want to play.

Then I have Torres who I'm not sure would play as early as tomorrow, although I'd want him for the Liverpool game surely? Then if Adam goes to Liverpool I'm not sure I'd want to keep him either.

Elmander has had the purple patch of his career now, poor guy, he was genius for about 5-6 weeks, and I had him for most.

Sturridge would be a tasty little fantasy prospect, lots of value in this window for sure, with Kakuta/Sturridge/Keane/Bentley to name but a few looking like worthy purchases

Wenger said 2-3 weeks, depends on how bad tear to hamstring is, he will not risk him before Barcelona game anyway it seems, and he is an early doubt for that

I presume it has been discussed to death, but you would think that going to Chelsea would make Torres fantasy gold, what woth the ball he would receive from Lampard, Malouda and Drogba to name but three (because surely Drogba would be the one to drop further off Torres?), but it would also be fair to say that Torres and Drogba would see their output, or potential output going forward cut in half? If Torres was going in to a Drogba-less team, I would say Fantasy Gold, but as it stands, it is hard to weigh up the impact the move would make on his returns, especially with some tough fixtures

'as it stands, it is hard to weigh up the impact the move would make on his returns, especially with some tough fixtures'

This is what I think too. I want to see how Ancelotti plans to get the best out of Drogba and Torres without changing their system. That is some task.

If it turns out they change their style to a system favouring 2 central strikers then I think Malouda will lose basically all his value immediately.

+1, i think he would have to play 2 up top. drogba out wide would be a waste IMO.

I think it will be like Schevkenko and Drogba case.

Do we think Torres will play against Sun if he signs?

If Torres plays up top in the middle of the three with Drogs and Malouda supporting, I think he is fantasy gold. He won't be on any set pieces, but he wasn't it Liverpool. He's there for his goalscoring, and I reckon he'll score plenty. All this could be irrelevant though if Drogba kicks up a fuss about being shunted out wide. Could they go to 4-4-2?

It all depends on how Ancelotti fits him in their system. If he is played out wide a la Anelka then I don't see any value. But you'd think Torres would have had this discussion before putting in his transfer request and I don't see him wanting to play out wide. So it's a strange one to call really.

About to click the button on this WC:

    Foster, Al Habsi
    Rafael, Coleman, Huth, Djourou, Kelly
Fabregas, Nani, Van der Vaart, Adam, Brunt
    Tevez, Berbatov, Van Persie

Do I need to be talked out of any of this? I wanted to get two keepers that rotate well, but didn't have the budget. Otherwise I think it's ok...

What changes to make before GW27 please?

    Foster Begovic
    Rafael Djourou Baird Bramble Walker
    Walcott Nani VDV Bale Nzogbia
    Berba RVP Tevez

I know its hard to pre plan as just had injury to Nasri but will have 3 transfers and 1m extra!

    Nzog > Brunt
Tevez > Wingie (1 week only)
Baird > R Johnson Dawson or Huth?

    Agree with N'Zog to Brunt.

As for your defenders, RJohnson is appealing because of his multiple gameweek. I was tempted by Dawson but am not yet convinced Spurs' defence is settled and tightened up - I need to see more evidence before I'm convinced. Huth is probably your safest bet.

I may play my WC this week due to lots of injuries. The problem is GW28. Any ideas for a def that I can play i GW 28 and possibly ahead of Coleman and Bardsley this GW?

    Price range: less than 4.7.
