The calm before the storm? Right now we’re still waiting for the £50 million Fernando Torres bomb to go off, while the fuse looks to be burning away nicely on Andy Carroll’s proposed transfer to Anfield as his £35 million replacement. Incredible stuff if it comes off.

Right now we have to be content with just a couple of moves, the most significant of which appears to be Blackpool’s signing of Andy Reid from Sunderland. Yesterday it was reported that Ian Holloway had targeted the impish Irishman as a possible replacement for Charlie Adam who is of course coveted by Liverpool.

Could Dalglish swoop for the Blackpool playmaker to help ease the loss of Torres? It’s just one of many unanswered questions right now on what is proving to be a deadline day full of big speculation, although typically, nothing much has happened just yet.

    Trouble with Torres is that too much depends on HIS form and fitness, but now with three for 1 and 10 mil extra, lots more options everywhere.

  I don't think so. Sure he should have a higher quality player to aim at but the big pull at Blackpool is he's on free kicks, corners and pens. Can't see him getting as many BPs at Liverpool either.

Because that is true, they are attacking midfielders, Liverpool need a holding midfielder. If I was Dalglish I would have signed Forlan and Phillips from Blackpool for a combined total of about £15m.
Raw and pacey winger for peanuts, and yes Forlan is knocking on, but he could form an instant partnership with Suarez.

From being very happy with my team for this week (no transfers needed), I now have Adam and Torres who I don't want anymore (Torres was giong after this week anyway).

As a Liverpool fan I'm happy obviously. Hate when a conflict of interests arises due to FPL.

Adam is a Scot the image rights on English players is worth a lot to a club; so expensive English players maybe they are but worth it to the English club that has to also limit foreign players and I guess Adam is classed as foreign so you can not compare Adam and Carroll in relation to relative ability and value and ultimate price tag to an English club.

Newcastle's site: "A transfer request has been accepted by Newcastle United for Magpies striker Andy Carroll. The 22-year-old England international has this afternoon handed in a transfer request, which has reluctantly been accepted by the club, and Carroll is currently in talks with Liverpool over a move to Anfield."

Such garbage. They made him put in a formal transfer request just so they could save face and say they "reluctantly accepted" it.
