There’s been a lot of talk concerning Chalie Adam’s yellow card count – a significant concern as he goes into a double fixture in the forthcoming Gameweek. While some sources state that the Blackpool skipper sits on 8 bookings for the season, today we confirmed with the FA that Adam is in fact on 9 bookings and therefore just a single yellow card away from a 2-match ban. Potentially this could see him miss Blackpool’s second fixture of the Gameweek against Spurs, if Adam collects a booking against Villa.

Despite confirmation from the FA that Adam did sit on 9 bookings, we have gone one step further this evening in the light of further doubt concerning this situation, and received confirmation from Blackpool’s Secretary Matt Williams. He has confirmed to us first hand that Adam is on 9 bookings and one yellow away from a ban.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

How many games has Adam played this season? How many yellows has he got so far? It works out at less than one every 2 games so the odds say he won't be booked in the first game of this gw... unless he's due a booking. Damn!

Anyone know how to use the OPTA stats? 😉

Exactly. He's picked up a fair few recently but if you look at his history on the fpl site he went several games without one before Christmas. The odds are he won't get one. If he were swallowing up £12 million of my budget I wouldn't want to risk him being missing for two weeks, but he is the stand-out budget player in the whole game - a season keeper.

I think all the fuss is due to the dgw and lack of fixtures in gw 28. At any other time folks would just bench him for the 2 game ban and get on with it. I'll just bench him and make do.

Of course, it could be that we're all just a bunch of drama queens with nothing better to do.

The fuss is lots of people are planning for a bench of non-players already, so Adam would force a tranfer/points hit on top of what they are doing anyway.

I agree that if you aren't on a WC you're better off keeping him this week probably. If you are it makes sense as you could end up with a free chance to make up points on everyone that has him and 3 other Spurs/Birmingham/Arsenal/(Chelsea) players, which is a lot.

I have my wildcard and I am contemplating getting rid. All of my rivals have him and I suspect they wont have spotted this, so a booking against Villa could be hugely beneficial if I didnt have him. Bit of a risk though...

Ok, so i'm on WC and was planning on using my transfer next week to do Adam -> Young/Cahill... I already have DJ...

Should I just do it now then? Or risk him not getting a yellow and do it GW?

So we just need Adam to go two games without a booking.... Can't be that hard! Especially when he knows that a booking will put him out for two games...

I'm not taking the chance tough.

I think if you're on a wildcard this week then it safer to transfer him out, especially if you already have an Arsenal or Tottenham mid that you won't be able to play in GW28.

Obviously, if it means a points hit to transfer him out then you're best off sticking and hoping he doesn't get booked against Villa.

    hello,

sorry to bother you guys when the games are going on, but i’m having a hard time building my team for the long term. so far, my team is:

    foster (al habsi)
    djourou, kelly, huth (coleman, luiz)
    brunt, adam, vdv, fab (nani)
    odem, rvp, tevez

so for next few weeks, i will be trading brunt for cahill and odem for either bent or carroll (depending on his health). i am having a hard time deciding whether to keep fab or trade him for walcott to free up some funds. i also don’t know if i should keep vdv, or trade him for a young. this way, i free up even more funds. the thing though is, even with all the freed up funds, where would i spend it on? all my defense seem pretty solid, so who would be a good def player to bring in? and for my goalies, i am keeping foster, and getting rid of al habsi (because he has some horrible fixtures in the next little while) for friedel (his fixtures seem good)

    so in short
1)keep fab, or trade him for walcott? (even though i don’t REALLY need the funds)
    2)trade vdv for a young?
3)odem for carroll (depending on health) or bent?
4)al habsi for friedel (or anyone else other than friedel?)
5)if i do free up some funds, should i rebuild my defense (and if yes, who are some better prospects than the defense i have already?)

      1) I'd keep Fabregas... I certainly am.
      2) VDV to Young sounds good. Helps out with week 28 too..
      3) I'd look at Saha instead of Carroll/Bent. Everton's fixtures are v. nice.
      4) Begovic?
      5) Kolarov instead of Kelly? He has a good fixture in week 28, which is important.

        1) ya that's what i was also thinking, especially since i don't really need more funds
        2) ya i think young will be bringing in quite a few pts in the next little while
        3) do you think saha is more short term? because bent has some great fixtures as well.
        4) begovic because of fixtures or form or both?
        5) kolarov definitely seems short term. their next few fixtures aren't horrible, but not the best.

          3) Everton's fixtures are unreal. 4 home games in 4 weeks starting week 28... If Saha stays fit, he could score big.
          4) Foster/Friedel is pretty expensive and Foster/Begovic alternate very well.

if i want to do brunt for cahill and odem for saha, i need to go either luiz to r johnson, or fab to walcott (and leaves a lot of funds). so which trade?

      1) I would keep Fabs if I had him, unless its for funds
      2) VDV is still good, he would miss just 1 game.So I'm keeping him
      3) After this week maybe. But like jamsiep said, Saha would be better
      4) Don't know. I went with Harper and Gordon.Reason being out of the gk's worth lesser than 5.0, these 2 have the best fixtures till the end of the season. Did not check rotation compatibility or anything. Not counting S#@%@#%@%-ny
      5)Kolarov,Rafael

      1) I'm trading Fabs for Walcott on my wildcard.

      2) I'm probably going VdV to Lennon but keeping enough cash t get him back in GW29 or 30

      3) If Carroll is fit then he's the boy, but he may be out all season. Saha or Bent both good.

      4) Al Habsi is fine. GW28 is a tough one but after that you won't play him much anyway.

      5) Up to you, but I'd keep Kelly, Huth and Coleman anyway.

Alright so after this info, guess I’ll stay away from Adam. But I hate this game week, very confused which of the following to do

    Got 2 free transfers…

    1) Y Toure,Malouda off —> Meireles,Lennon in(Gives me tottenham coverage for both games)
    2) Vidic,Malouda off —> Rafael,Lampard in ( Punt really)
    3) Y Toure off —> Barton in.( Not a great advantage.Gives me another double gameweek player, also gives me 2 transfers next week)
    4) Vidic,Berbatov off —> Rafael, Tevez

    Which would you do?

Not having RVP is killing me, i've never been so nervous about a GW, probably because i've pulled a 100 point gap down to 54 on the leader so can't slip up this week. So, would you take a 4 point hit to swap Walcott or Fabregas out for RVP?

Which forward would you be taking out for RVP? How many Ars/Tott/Birm players are you missing for GW28? If you can field eleven for GW28 then I think a 4-point hit for RVP would definitely pay off this week

Hmmm, not too bad although Berba has a nice fixture in 28, maybe a double. Personally I would get RVP in, let your 3 Arsenal attackers strut their stuff this week, then you can decide which one you want to take out for the next gameweek. If nothing else it would give you a bit of peace of mind over an extended 12-day gameweek when RVP has the potential to score 20-25 pts.

Yeah it doesn't make sense, but remember that you are gambling on winning the 4 points you save by not doing it and risk losing out on 50 points if unlucky.

I opted against taking a point hit to get Berbatov in last double gameweek, and it literally cost me about 50 points

It's great fun to have three attacking Arsenal players to be honest, especially when they play weaker teams at home. I've had them for two weeks now and it's something above the usual FPL experience!

If you're wildcarding now you want the nucleus of a team to see you through the next 12 gameweeks. GW28 is just one. Surely better to write off one bad week if it means you can assemble a team which is better equipped to do you proud over the long haul. You will still need your transfers to cope with unforseen injuries, suspensions etc....you won't want to have to reconstruct a whole squad because half the team you brought in to cover GW28 need replacing afterwards.

          Rafael, Coleman, Kolarov, Simpson, Kelly
          Fabs, Nani, VDV, Nolan, Adam
          Tevez, Odem, RVP

It's hell trying to pick who's playing and Adam getting booked may cock up my planned transfer next week but I don't think it's so bad.

No need to write it off. I have a plan for 28, that at worst has 5 defenders (4 at home) and all with attacking potential. Then 4 DGW players for 29.

    WC team:

    Foster (???)
    Kolorov Coleman Bardsley Vidic Eardly
    Nani Ethers VDV Adam Barton
    Drogba Odem RVP

    1) Who to bench this week
    2) Who to have as a second keeper? Need someone long term and good GW28 fixture.
    3) How does my team look in generall? Some of the players are just for this week and i will have to take them out for the long run.

Team in general is good, although I'd suggest the following...

        - get rid of Bardsley, shocking fixtures until GW32
        - why Eardly??
        - Get Tevez instead of Drogba, then use the money to upgrade Etherington (to A.Young or Cahill if you can afford - maybe even next week though)

I'm planning on doing Bardsley > Kelly in the WC - forgot to say
I only got Eardly for the double gameweeks
I can afford to do the A.Young or even Cahill transfer without taking Drogba out.

Right, I know you are all p**d off with RMWC teams posts, but I would appreciate any constructive comments on my (think I've finalised it) team:

    Foster, Robinson
    Coleman, Huth, Sagna, Walker, Kelly
    Nani, VDV, Cahill, Barton, Walcott
Tevez, RVP, Odemwingie (Bent in GW28)

    many thanks guys

Looking pretty good, but you don't have enough Kolarov in there, no team should be without him between now & end of season, he is set up for some ridiculous scores in the next few weeks.

I would say Huth&Sagna>Kolarov&Djourou and Barton>Adam in my humble opinion

Hi Johnny99, I've think Sagna is a better option long term than Kolarov - better fixtures, less rotation risk.
And I'm taking Adam OUT for Barton - cant risk not fielding 11 players in GW28 which is a distinct possibility.
        But thanks anyway mate 🙂
