Mick McCarthy and Fernando Torres were the Gameweek 26 headline-makers as Wolves brought Man United’s unbeaten run to an end and the £50m ex-Liverpool forward made a miserable start to life at Stamford Bridge, thanks to Kenny Dalglish’s revitalised Merseysiders. Here’s our regular Members article, casting an eye over the weekend’s OPTA stand-outs, ahead of the upcoming double Gameweek…
Where does FPL get the up to date scores from?
E.g. do they have a guy at each game totting up the assists etc or does this all come from an official body that already do this? Like opta or someone?
Do they have thier own bonus point judges? And are these guys paid to go to every game?Open ControlsThese are the bonus point judges...
http://www.bilerico.com/2010/06/hear-see-speak-no-evil1.jpgOpen ControlsPress association provide it for them.
Open ControlsAssists, goals etc come from Press Association data. Bonus point judges are Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, David Blunkett, Andrea Bocelli and Harvey Price.

Best cheaper third striker for the mid-term going forward?
Best? Zigic? Obinna? Rodallega? Campbell? Carroll once back from injury? Stretch to Gyan?Open ControlsVela!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Open ControlsZigic is on a roll and with 2 home matches worth a punt
Open ControlsFor the long-term though?
I'm considering going cheaper at my third striker spot to give me money to bolster my other positions... So if I invest my money elsewhere, it's harder to go back, so this needs to be someone I'll keep in my team for a while...Open Controls
None of them look particularly appetising to me, Carroll perhaps in a few weeks.
Open ControlsPlease don't say "going forward". And I'm going Odem.
Open ControlsWhat's wrong with 'going forward'?
Open ControlsIt's annoying, David Brent-style management speak. What's wrong with
'Best cheaper third striker for the mid-term going forward?'Open ControlsBecause mid-term is a nothing phrase.
Open ControlsIt means 'in the medium term', it's not specific as to what the medium term is, but more useful than 'going forward'.
In this context, mid-term presumably means 4 or 5 gameweeks. What exactly does 'going forward' mean in this context? We're hardly likely to be 'going backwards', are we?Open ControlsIt suggests that you want them in and have no plans to get them out as of yet, but aren't ruling that out at some point in the future. Not jsut the here and now, it's looking at more than that, but not bounded (that being the important point).
Mid-term and Short-term imply an expiry date in the not too distant future, long term implies you don't want them. Neither accurately capture alot of situations.
Open ended, so...Open ControlsOK, but saying 'in the mid-term going forward' is a tautology, no?
I'm boring myself now, lets talk about football 🙂Open Controls
I've eaten the pie. Now I'm off to do some blue-sky thinking (outside the box, obviously), push the envelope, run a few ideas up the flagpole to see if anyone salutes etc etc

Who to play this week?
1.Nani (city at home)
or
2.Saha (bolton away)
ThanksOpen ControlsCome on sheep buy VDV. Good job. Come on we need price rise. U can do it!!!
Open Controlsp.S. This is not for u sheep " and Rafael van der Vaart could be rested for this Saturday's match at Sunderland in order to be fit for Milan after straining his calf against Bolton. "
Open ControlsSo basically you're talking to people who aren't reading this.
Open Controls...who I would argue are less sheepy than people who get excited about whatever FFS flavour of the day happens to be doing the rounds.
Open ControlsYay! Let's all transfer out VdV at a loss because he's going to play the same number of games as most other teams this week then have a blank! Yay!

Aren't we all?

Hi Guys,
What is peoples take on having 3 untd plyrs? I know their potential DGW is vs Chelsea. But still, they are the leaders..And Chelsea are even worse with Torres(everton have a decent chance of beating them in the FA cup, i think)...
I noticed there are quite a few on here who are ditchin Berba/Vidic/Rafael. Any good reason to do so?
Their last encounter was 0-0 and extremely boring, but at home United will surely want to demolish their neighbouring rivals..
It makes a difference if you're wildcarding or not i guess but I'm thinking of keeping them.(Berbs/Vidic/Nani)Open ControlsThey lost to Wolves. They're a busted flush - be lucky to win another game this season.
Excuse me, it's my round....Open ControlsNo offence but Torres looked pretty bad vs Liverpool and has been all season.(I dont support any EPL team for the record)
Open ControlsHe did but ocne you look past the overhyped sense of expectation that was an incredibly difficult game to make his debut in, don't you think?
He will get better, no doubt. And they will find a system that works well with him in.Open ControlsSo why does your team say you support Liverpool then?
Your right Torres is totally rubbish, utterly useless what has he ever done in football, Chelsea should have him put down and made into glue.
You should be an ITV pundit.Open ControlsYou have to put a team in and I did Liverpool a few years ago because kuijt is the best player ever!(yeah right).
Dont be aggitated. Torres is a lovely player but he just looks like he's collecting shells on the pitch since his injury a while back.Open ControlsI wish someone would put you down. Just another FFS 'regular' who thinks his shit is sugar.
Open ControlsYour a man pretending to be a woman for attention.
Or are you Flavia Lovell, I'm confused?
Not as confused as you obviously.Open ControlsUnlike you with your 'holier than thou' posts correcting everyone all the time?
Dude has a legit point, saying Chelsea are worse with Torres is just reactionary drivel considering they've played one game with him and we all know he is a world class striker.Open Controls
good luck. But of u r chasing u should think about doing the opposite.
Open ControlsMan City, Wigan away and maybe Chelsea away, Liverpool away. That takes us up until 19th March.
For defenders surely there are better shprt term options, attackers too. Nani is the one really worth keeping hold of, Berbatov/Rooney can't be trusted to perform every week.
This is for ppl on their wildcard mainly who can transfer value all at once and then feed back in Rafael/Vidic/Berba afterwards. I got rid of Vid especially to spread the wealth for better DGW options.Open Controls
does anyone often have two free transfers but not know what to do with them? Is it worth using one to get rid of stockdale for another 4.0 keeper just for the sake of having backup?
Open ControlsThoughts on...
Djourou > Huth
VdV > Walcott
Rooney > Odemwingie
4 point 'hit' or which 2 of the above?! Cheers.Open ControlsDjourou > Huth sounds good, i'd need to see your team before commenting on the other two..
Open ControlsShtop...
Foster (Kingson)
Djourou Kelly R.Johnson (Coleman Rafael)
VdV Fabregas Adam Nani (Ferguson)
Rooney RvP Tevez
What you reckon then? Worth playing Ferguson?!
(I am fully aware of the shiite fixtures coming up!)Open ControlsDefo worth playing ferguson! I'd bench Tevez for him.
I actually like that team! looks good apart from Djourou.. I defo wouldnt do VDV - Walcott anyhow seen as you have fabs and van persie and ars dont play GW28.
Rooney to Odemwingie is a 50/50 call. Utd have a potential double GW in 28 and Rooney could do something against City but Odemwingie has a lovely double GW this week.. It really is 50/50!Open ControlsHmmm, tricky!
I'm a whole 7 points behind you, nioce score by the way!
yea, not sure what to do, if I go for 2/3 transfers I still need at least 2 transfers next week to be able to field 11 players. The squad rotations that are coming up are going to mess things up aswell.
Haven't got the arrse to click the 'confirm' button yet.Open ControlsTis a shhhhticky one all right!!
I just decided there that i do actually think its worth doing Rooney -> Wingie, just about even though i'm in the same predicament with Berbatov and i'm hanging onto him...
Ahh, def get rid of Djourou anyways and flip a coin on the rest of it - i'm afraid that the best advice I can give right now!!Open ControlsHaha, nightmare isn't it?! One minute I say fuuck it and the next I'm waiting until Saturday morning!
Right, how about this Shteve lad...
GW27:
Djourou > Huth
VdV > Walcott
Rooney > Odemwingie
GW28:
R.Johnson > Kolarov
Walcott > Cahill
Leaving (/scraping) for GW28...
Kingson (Foster)
Huth Rafael Kelly Coleman Kolarov
Cahill Nani Adam (Fabregas Ferguson)
Odemwingie Tevez (RvP)Open Controls
Shoot with the hit
Open Controls
How about this for a wildcard team?
Foster
Kelly, Coleman, Huth
Bentley, Fabregas, Meireles, Nani, Walcott
Odemwingie, RVP
Subs: Robinson, Tevez, Kolorov, Walker
2.2 left
Suggetions welcome 🙂Open ControlsEllo mullenlad... still similar to mine. I've got Young over Nani for a coupla weeks and I'm going Vela over Odem. Keepers are different too. Interesting... think we both had Adam yesterday and we've both gone for Merieles as a replacemet...
Open ControlsAye hes just too much of a risk to keep seeing as 4 teams won't be playing in GW27. The struggle would have been to field 11 players in GW27 if he did get suspended.
Was going to go with Cahill but realised I would be shooting myself in the foot if Everton caused a shock at Stamford Birdge.Open Controls
Who do people see as the better option to bring in this week: Barton or Nolan?
Open ControlsNot too sure about Nolan anymore as I feel most of his points were related to penalties or carroll, altho I have not looked into it statiscally.
If they were priced the same, i would still go for nolan probably, but as things stand, barton looks better value for money imoOpen ControlsRather than ask the question again myself - So what do people think?
Bartons on Pens and a mini BP magnet - Nolan may well be playing as a 2nd striker.Open ControlsThanks all. I'm not fussed about cost really, will be using my original WC for GW28 anyway so could replace Nolan with Barton then if £ an issue. Barton pens has made me think about it, but I still think Nolan is the better option.

I'd seriously love a new podcast to listen to right now, I just listened to episode 26 for the first time,
Between them, Granville and Mark called results, made great player suggestions and trends that were nearly spot on regarding gameweek 25 + 26. was fascinating!
Open ControlsNew episode..?? Yeahhhh!!!! Love the last 2 one lads. Great one, keep up the good work.
Open ControlsSweet holy moses and bendtner that is great, cheers 🙂
Open ControlsI really enjoy them, but I think your voices should be swapped with your usernames. Just seems you sound more like a Granville for some reason and he sounds more like a Mark.

Welcome back we need you.
http://www.givemefootball.com/premier-league/16m-wing-wizard-poised-for-sensational-united-retu?Open ControlsGreat great news. That will ease my Nani transfer. But first wait and see if this is true.
Do you think this will mean rotation for Nani or he will play on the opposite flank?Open Controlsnah, nani will still play whenever he is fit i would think
Open Controls
Rooney must be over the moon reading that article
Open ControlsRooney is currently reading "Spots Birthday Party" I think it will be awhile before he progresses onto websites.

Question about best way to spread money across positions.
Scenario 1:
3 top strikers, 3 top midfielders, 2 cheap/midprice midfielders to rotate. Play 3-4-3 as default.
or
Scenario 2:
2 top strikers with one cheaper to rotate, 4 top midfielders with one cheap to rotate. Play 3-5-2 as default.
Which is better?Open Controls5 penalty takers/3 divers/2 free kick takers is best
Open ControlsI assume both 1 & 2 involve budget defences. When there weren't 3 really firing strikers 2 was best, now it's possible to get 3 (so go for 1) as long as RVP and Tevez keep it up.
Open ControlsBudget-ish, yep.
The main cause for asking the question is I've currently got option 1 with Berbatov, Tevez and Van Persie. I'm worried Berbatov's about to go cold again, and am tempted to make a move to Cahill if he can re-capture his pre-Asian Cup form. But to go for Cahill would require downgrading from Berbatov to a cheaper striker.Open ControlsRight now it seems every man and his cat are taking Odem for the short term and Cahill now or 28 for his run coming up, switching to Saha 28 or 29 if he keeps scoring or Bent if they have the money or another cheap one.
Open Controls
Following on from a bit further up the page.....
Just throwing it out there for potential discussion, and I know we are using the Opta stats which are awesome, but is the Press Association data something worth having in terms of analysis either instead of or as well as what we currently have?
http://www.pressassociation.com/images_pacorp/stories/sport/pdfs/Football%20Statistics.pdf
At least then we have a more accurate line of what they are basing their bonus point allocations on...Open ControlsThis Valencia news made my check his price and its 7.8 and I've just realized that Nani is 9.8 starting from 8.0m. I don't remember that kind of price rise. It must be something like a record. Maybe only Ronaldo can match it 3 years ago, when I wasn't playing.
Open ControlsWildcarding at mo keep or ditch Berba?
Open ControlsIn mondays draft I ditched him for Odemwingie, Tuesday he was back in, almost stayed there for the entire wednesday, untill I decided to get in Bent. So, currently on Bent. Convinced he is the best long term option
Open ControlsLol Bent in my thots 2 esp we Berba's bad fixures and villa got great run. Your attack below is same as mine at mo so hope goes well lol.
Open Controls
Has anybody else on wildcard decided to get in Bent alongside tevez and rvp on top?
Cant get myself to like Odemwingie in mye team due to the fact he his injury prone and plays for wesbrom afterall, and Berbatov will not benefit from the fixturelist and the fact that valencia and rooney could link up again very soon, imo
Thoughts?Open Controlshe is big but he doesnt score much
Open Controls
I'm not on wildcard but I'm contemplating the same top three.
I put the three clubs fixtures together on the ticker and they look pretty tasty... when one of the has a tough game (which you'd probably play them in anyway) the other two have good looking fixtures.Open ControlsSHHHHH!!!!
Open ControlsBudget is what would stop me. I need more price rises this week! I've got 11 in my squad that would lock in 0.1 extra value if they rise (some for the 2nd time) this GW.
Open Controls
This weekend
A Kuyt(Wigan-at home)
B Dempsey(Chelsea-at home)

Do I?
I just might you know.Open ControlsOoooo, good one

W/C team:
Foster Friedel
Kelly Huth Johnson Kolarov Coleman
Walcott Fabregas Nani Adam VDV/Brunt
RVP Tevez Odemwingie
Then Fabs/Walcott --> Cahill in GW28.
What you reckon?Open ControlsVery similar to the one I'm pondering:
Foster | Begovic
Kolarov | Huth | Coleman | Walker | Rafael
Fabregas | Walcott | Bentley | Nani | Adam
RVP | Odemwingie | Tevez
So yeah, looks good to meOpen Controlspretty same to mine, altho i have opted for Bent and Cahill instead of Odemwingie and Fabs, doesnt make much sense short term maybe, but will suit my longterm plan better. All my rivals have used their wilcards without closing in my lead, so dont have to go all focused on the dgw i reckon

Mark I am relying on a ScoutCast tonight.Open ControlsWhy is no one mentioning Myhill as keeper this week considering he has a DGW and won't be out in GW28?
Also, would anyone take a 4 point hit (bringing me to 8 points lost) to get Givet's useless benchwarming ass off my team for anyone as I would have 9million free?Open ControlsBecause West Brom's defence is a shambles.
Open Controls
Wildcard team done for bout 10th but what people think o team pos and neg comments be great thanks,
Foster,Begovic
R.johnson,Kelly,Walker,Coleman,Kolorov
Nani,Adam,Barton,Fabs,Arshavin
Rvp,Tevez,BentOpen ControlsYou should change them all it looks too good.
Open Controlsquite generic and nice, I like your choice of Bent instead of Odemwingie, arshavin is a differential you can afford and could pay off, so i say go for it!
Or, maybe swap Adam for Brunt to be better prepared for gw28, as there is little chance Adam will be able to play two games without a yellow imoOpen ControlsYep arshavin just for this week as double the swap him we Cahill
Open Controls
291 (21% of all your points) in the last 3 gameweeks is very impressive! It's a shame to have to wildcard after that and break up a winning team.
Adam would be the only concern as a possible spanner in the works for 28.Open Controls
