The comes a time when even the greatest generals lay down their weapons and accept their “day of defeat”. Hannibal at Zama, Napoleon at Waterloo, and now Mark at Eastlands.

I know for sure after a couple of retrospective days, he’ll dust himself down and prepare for the next Gameweek. There’s nothing more dangerous than a wounded animal and what could be better than a double Gameweek to help the rehabilitation.

According to Mark, having got wind of his selection in my wildcard squad, Luka Modric laughed so hard he burst his appendix, making that the first time my bandwagon was derailed by an internal organ.

Fabregas signs his own midweek game sicknote; in his mother’s handwriting. So he’s finally transferred himself into his own Fantasy team and we about to see why he’s been holding back these last few weeks. Well that’s the theory.

Off to the island we travel with Nikola “Gulliver” Zigic, our very own coconut picker. Mark’s bringing the rum, and with my cheapo cartons of Asda value pineapple juice, we’ve got our very own Pina Colada on tap. If it looks like the heavy cargo is going to sink us we can always jettison the flotsam, or in order words chuck out Darren Bent.

Up for discussion this episode is the Manchester derby and the perils of Gameweek 28, while the debate of Charlie’s 8 or 9 yellows gets put to bed.

Oh and by the way, please accept our apologies for the “playful shenanigans” at the start of last week’s podcast. We were unaware that our microphones were hooked up and if any offense was caused, it was purely intentional.

Sagna - suspended for the first leg against Barca, so he has to be the most likely. I'm tempted to go for him instead of tripling up on Birmingham's defence. The only problem is that I'm not sure whether Sagna will then play in week 29 at home to Sunderland - where I need him - with the second leg vs Barca only three days after.

Just 4, assuming that Djourou and VDV are going to miss the first game of their doubles.. Will have to take some more next week too to sort out the mess.

Yeah, was just talking about it on the previous page. Not too happy about it! The owner is a hippy who runs a green energy company down here in Gloucestershire, so his plan is probably to make the club entirely green. Bleurgh!

Still, he saved the club from administration in the summer, so we can't complain too much, although dad has already decided that he's never going to watch the club so long as the guy (Dale Vince) is in control. 😕

Apparently one of the club directors is a meat supplier whose products will no longer be welcome at the ground.

It's a bit different having a vegan owning a football club. Although I can't aee the point of banning red meat if chicken is still available.

Wenger has already rotated Sagna and Clichy for Eboue and Gibbs, so with the fixture congestion there's a big rotation risk for the two "easy" home PL games.

Defenders are generally rotated less though and they're both excellent athletes so I still think they're very likely to start both games.

Unless he scores well over the next coming gameweeks I'm already branding him the biggest anti-bandwagon of the season.

The big plus of Stoke players is that they are one of very few sides that have a double and a good fixture in gameweek 28. And in 29 and 30 too, so no need to rush them out. Good stuff imo.

Trying to use my WC to get a defence that I can leave in situ for the season.

Would it be completely retarded to leave myself with no goalie in week 28?

Current goalies are Al Habsi & Stockdale

Only have enough to transfer Chesney in by trading Al Habsi. Leaving no goalie to play in week 28.

Could obviously use free transfer in 28 to trade Chesney for Begovic or the like but will likely need the tranny to get Adam out after his inevitable YC so a hit for a keeper doesn't seem worth it. Would be playing Al Habsi if i leave as is against Utd week 28 and what's he likely to get from that anyway? 1 possibly 2 points.

    Am I a div?

        Excellent point.

But 2 clean sheets for Chesney possibly vs none for Begovic possibly?

Surely 2 Arsenal home games has more chance than 2 Stoke away

Maybe, but I fancy Begovic to score more over: bir ars WBA than Szczesny over: WLV STK

That's a good point. It's effectively 3 games vs 2 and the returns could be there or thereabouts.

Every chance Begby could get 2 cleans from his 3 games

This is a good shout. Begovic meets both the criterea of having a double this week, an easy fixture next week when lots of people will be unable to field 11, and is probably a good pick for the rest of the season.

Is he really though? I can see him getting 4 points max out of this double and if Arsenal go to town possibly less.

Indeed. I reckon he makes good combos with Szczesny, Foster, Gomes and Gordon.

Which of these is a better combo, just for this gameweek:

    a) Djorou (WOL/STO), Johnson (STO/NEW), Brunt (WHM/WOL).

    b) Coleman (bol), Carr (STO/NEW), Walcott (WOL/STO).

And should I do "b" in the next few minutes to beat Theo's price rise? Decisions, decisions........

Not 90, but I think minimum of 70 in each. He's an obvious player to sub off, given their bench.

I actually thought about giving it a go. His scoring per game is really fantastic this season. If there's a clear indication tomorrow that RVP isn't going to start against Wolves, then he'd probably be my second choice.

Otherwise, a 55% share of the vote in the captains poll don't lie. RVP it should be, unless you have some sort of massive mini-league deficit to make up.
