Mikel Arteta has undoubtedly been one of the biggest disappointments of our Fantasy season. So often the silky creator in the Everton engine room, a Bonus Point darling to rival even compatriot Cesc Fabregas, Arteta has so far failed to turn his prompting and probing into Fantasy returns, registering just a single assist and a three goal return in 22 league starts.

Significantly, his Fantasy season has not been rescued by a consistent flow of Fantasy Premier League Bonus Points. Arteta has gathered just 14 over the season so far, and no Bonus has come his way since gameweek 14.

And yet, with Tim Cahill a reported injury doubt for Everton’s weekend fixture with Sunderland, Fantasy Managers are on alert and hunting for new attacking options within the Everton midfield ahead of their kind run of opponents and double fixture in gameweek 29. Arteta is possibly back on the menu; reason enough for us to offer our Members a closer look to see how Arteta has fared in recent weeks and how he compares to another key option in the Everton midfield – Marouane Fellaini.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

What do people think of Walcott -> Silva?
I think Walcott will become a rotation risk now, Wenger has been singing Arshavin's praises lately. A lot of games in a short space of time aswell.

Im thinking of doing it for 2 games at least. Walcott doesn't play this week so i need to shift either him or Adam to field 11. Walcott allows me to get Silva, Adam would allow me to get Jarvis/Barton..

Yeah I am playing the Cricinfo game, but I don't really fancy wasting two transfers (one to get him in, and then one to get him straight back out afterwards) on a South African player, because their next game is ages after tomorrow's one.

not really. Afridi's bowling and when pakistan bowled in general was when the game was already won.

Let's face it- Akmal made a brilliant knock, top scoring at a rapid pace and set up the victory.

          Afridi just finished it off.

Now let's try to make a few good decisions. Looking at GW28, I am loaded with Ars/Bir/Spurs players and like many hold Adam. here is my thinking:

    1. Sell - Sagna/Lennon/Adam > Arteta/Downing/Rafael (no funds for Evra) - 8 points hit but play 11 men

    2. Sell - Sagna/Adam > Arteta/O'Shea or Smalling - 4 point hit and play 10 men

I am not convinced on the gamble of a 4 points hit to play 11 when the Man U DGW is so problematic to call - who will play in defence. Comments greatly appreciated....but I retain Lennon for Spurs good run and set myself up for Eve DGW29...

I agree, it is so hard to make a goof call other than Vidic or Evra, but these are credit crunch times. I am leaning towards forgetting the Man U DGW and just finds a solid defender for Sagna....any thoughts...Coleman or Distin ready for the DGW

I'm not convinced by Arteta. Cahill if fit is a good shout, even Fellaini as a risky punt, but Arteta is more than likely going to get 4-5 pts over two games. A Young looks a better bet. Even Giggs will probably get more than Arteta. Giggs has been rested this week with the Wigan game in mind. He's not injured as far as we know.
      RAfeal - rotation risk
      Downing - could be good.

I have Nani, but have considered Giggs also. I feel Cahill is a risk at the moment for the amount invested. He just doesn't seem to have travelled back well from Asia. I had Barton when they played Arsenal. I also had RvP...106 points that week!

Is anyone in the Stockdale/Foster scenario. I just don't see the benefit of taking a hit for Begovic especially with Huth. IF he gets a clean sheet he gets me 2pts which Foster will surely make up in DGW.

I'm struggling to understand what people are complaining about in terms players missing for this week. We all knew Arsenal Spurs and Birmingham were missing a fixture, the Adam one is slightly different but we knew he was on a suspension tight rope, injuries are different and I sympathise their but saying "I'm missing RVP, Fabs, VDV etc" seems bizarre.

+1. People are complaining as there is no straight forward decision like last week (get RVP and captain him...). Everyone has to get rid of at least one high scoring midfielder and there is no straight forward option as Cahill is doubtful.

Yup, just realized. It hasn't been updated. It has Arshavin & Nani both on 11 but Arsh has played 200 less minutes. So he still isn't doing as bad as people think.

I can't understand the Arshavin slating that goes on either. He might give the ball away from time to time and not play the tippy tappy style, but he's bloomin' effective, and scores some crucial goals.

FPL Assists do not necessarily equal "real" assists.

The Opta stats we get (I'm pretty adamant, I've not got time to toothcomb it, sorry) do not count things like earning penalties and other such intricacies that FPL decides to award points for, 'a bit fruitfully', shall we say. In fact, most, if not all, sources wouldn't include these things besides for FPL as an assist. On Technical "actual" assists (i.e. making a pass that leads to a goal), I believe Arshavin is ahead.

    Hi

Some red flags today should trigger transfer of RVP, Adam, VDV.

Will you keep or sell Adam ?

He won't play until 19 Mar and will be back for two away games then four games at home. I'm thinking of selling him for 5.7m. His price should be around 5.7-5.8m for me to buy back if I want him for that interesting running of home games.

I got him for 5.0 and am still selling. He'll have a red flag for over two weeks and should go down to 5.7 easily. Will only have cost me 0.2 to get him back then.

I do only have one midfielder for GW28 at the moment though so I don't have a lot of choice!
