With the end of what seemed like the longest gameweek in history on Wednesday, we just have time to recap how the second round of the Members Paddy Power Cup panned out. The full list of 64 results is right here, and what follows is a brief round-up of the action…
Having started the round one results round-up with a doff of the cap to each of those Fantasy Managers reaching a ton for the week, that would be somewhat tedious on this occasion, as a mighty 41 of the 128 achieved that particular landmark for the round, but with only 34 progressing. So here’s a consolatory name check, along with their margin of defeat, to the unfortunate seven… Dangeroussnails (7), dez (7), burleyboy (8), Ty_Durden (1), timdogster (1), breakballartist (1) and SkyBlueArmy (2). Unlucky.
As for the nine managers that scored a century of Fantasy points in round one, they fell into two distinct categories this time round. They either repeated the incredible feat and progressed to the next round (Civan, Walky Talky, xabi_14 and fiacloir), or they ‘only’ notched double-digits and were eliminated (Dick Fran Dyke, Goose, RafaMC, stebwfc and Aldershot Rejects). That 113 for xabi_14 was the top score for the round.
Unsurprisingly the highest-scoring tie of the round involved two centurions, with BigJ prevailing 110 – 103 over Dangeroussnails.
Along with Ty_Durden, Dangeroussnails’ 103 was the highest score not good enough for the third round, but with an average score a shade over 95 this week, there were bound to be plenty of high-scoring casualties.
Not so for the Scout’s own Granville however, whose slightly above par 97, beat Mole’s slightly below par 92. The dream continues.
Also safely in the hat for the third round draw is current Paddy Power Cup III Champion, Gooner dave, who put JimmyDeemo to the sword 107 – 96.
Far and away the biggest drubbing this week was dealt out by Kvanmo who annihilated Contributor da Beeeez 110 – 71.
Lastly, there was one drawn fixture in the round, with oi keano and martinhs scoring 97. The former advancing thanks to his superior overall rank.
A big well done to the 64 fantasy mangers progressing to the third round. The fixtures for which will be announced very shortly.
