It’s something of a mystery that, given his positive impact whilst on loan at Portsmouth last season, no top-flight club had been initially willing to take a punt on Jamie O’Hara this term. Hampered by a back problem and the quality of the midfield at parent club Spurs, he’s been stuck on the sidelines, managing not one single minute of game time until Mick McCarthy brought him to Molineux on loan at the tail end of the January transfer window. As illustrated in last Saturday’s 4-0 home romp over Blackpool, O’Hara’s performances are already reaping reward for Wolves and Big Mick’s acquisition is looking like a masterstroke.

As this average position map from the Blackpool game shows, O’Hara (24) is stationed in the heart of the Wolves midfield and, with his fair share of set-piece duties in addition, is quickly looking like the Midlands club’s equivalent to Charlie Adam, with some talismanic performances that have undoubtedly helped boost the club‘s survival chances.

Within a month of arriving at his new club, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Managers are also discovering O’Hara has lost little of the allure that made him a real cut-price midfield proposition last time round. Having taken three games to build up his match-fitness, O’Hara has now managed 90 minutes in each of Wolves’ last two games and has returned two goals and five FPL Bonus Points, for a Fantasy Total of 20 points.

A look at these Passing Chalkboards from those last two games highlights O’Hara’s involvement in Wolves’ play and makes it easy to appreciate just how he’s appealing to the Bonus Point judges, too. He made 69 passes against West Brom, 6 tackles, had 3 shots and grabbed a goal and 3 Bonus Points for his endeavours.

Against a Blackpool side shorn of the suspended Adam, O’Hara’s performance was immense. He made an incredible 87 passes, 5 tackles, and once again had 3 shots, from which he grabbed a goal. Only a double from Sylvan Ebanks-Blake prevented him from picking up all 3 Bonus Points and O’Hara instead had to make do with only 2 from the Bonus Judges.

Our Members should further investigate his stats from the past few gameweeks- he’s been one of the league’s outstanding performers and has clearly settled instantly at Molineux. McCarthy has not held back in his praise of the midfielder and is clearly desperate to make the signing a permanent one:

He has already made a difference to us and it’s great to have him around the place as well as in the team. He makes us play, he gets on the ball and you can see why he’s been a Tottenham player. Hopefully he will be a Wolves player for a long time. It’s not just a case of me wanting him here but he wants to come here as well. He is a chirpy character to have around the place as well as being a very good player. Whether there is a deal already in place to sign him from Spurs – that is down to our chief executive Jez Moxey.

For those Fantasy Managers mulling over buying O’Hara this gameweek, beware: the loan agreement with Spurs means he cannot participate in Wolves’ next league match -at home to Harry’s side- but from the following gameweek, priced at just £5.1m for those considering an alternative to the likes of Charlie Adam, he’s becoming increasingly hard to ignore.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I think the conclusions are a bit weird though, it's more of an easy dig at Bale & Nasri imo, the majority of the list are strikers and they will obviously get the most goals and assists.

Nasri has been playing most of this season as one of the forward 3. He's got no excuses. I do love a bit of pointless statery though, gets the ffs juices flowing. 🙂

It wouldn't be hard to make a long list of great players with attacking roles who have never been close to these stats though.

all 10 are more attacking than nasri, doesn't prove too much. the nasri hype got a little out of hand but this is no way to disprove it, nor is him being a little over-hyped mean he isn't great, just means he isn't the best thing ever

actually i'd say 9 of the 10 are more attacking than nasri, with nani being equally so. but productivity wise nani is unrivaled so no shame in that (dempsey-sque shot tourettes coupled with the explosive ability and skill to beat his man almost every time helps). surprsingly walcott is arsenal's most advanced player, average position maps show this. vdv is on pens and played upfront 9 out of ten times this season.
and yes can you take the hook out and throw me back please, it's cold out here 🙂

AB, i did rather enjoy this little ditty from the guardian though in review of sunday:

"In the absence of Fábregas, Nasri had been expected to provide the goalscoring threat from Arsenal's midfield. But rather than attempting the sort of incisive dribbles that often reached their climax with a goal in the first half of the season, he tended to loiter on the fringe of the Birmingham penalty area before transferring the ball and the responsibility to a team‑mate."

Not only have you failed to acknowledge his great form this year( i wonder why that is?) , you now use one poor game as what? some kind of ignorant "evidence" of your view which you stand alone with. Ya Nasri is crap based on one game last sunday

Now given you believe that claim you have to follow it to its ludicrous end.
                -

Martins is obviously an excellent player cos he scored a cup final winner.

but the worrying thing for their fans must be whether their healthy financial position will pay off and reward them with trophies when the likes of chelsea and now man city have just splashed the cash and done better than them

look at spain for example, barca and real are both in the sheeet financially and there are better run clubs in spain but will they ever break the big two's stranglehold? unlikely

You think Tottenham will keep it up? They're bound to fall back into being a 5th-7th finisher imo. They're doing a great job but I don't think they'll be able to hold off the other "big 4" for long. Expect them to tangle with Liverpool for 5th place in the upcoming years.

Clubs outside the top2 in Spain have next to no chance to ever catch Real or Barca because of how the TV money are divided. Each team negotiate on their own and so the teams outside the top2 get nothing compared to in better run leagues.

So the consensus is that if you don't win the trophy, you might as well not have played?

Hmm, I'm anomaly. I'd rather be consistently good for years that win one trophy and get relegated (Portsmouth, possibly Birmingham).

I wouldn't say that but Arsenal's quality over the past few years should have probably yielded a trophy

I'm an Everton fan and as long as we finish decent each season I'm happy but this in turn makes us not a big club. Arsenal want to be a big club without trophies = not a big club

I was having trouble sending replies earlier. Thought I'd been banned by some FFS Kolorov fans for a minute, objecting to my frequent criticisms of the young left back/winger/58 minute man.

anyway, in reply to Gargamel - yes it is me selling my vinyl. It hurts only a little as I have n't had a record player in years and have most on CD or MP3 now.

A blue moon occurs about once every two or three years, and they are not really blue in colour.

A blue moon is really just a full moon that appears where it shouldn't. An extra moon you might say.

Full moons usually occur once a month or three per each season, but the lunar cycle works a little different than our calendar cycle, so an extra full moon pops up every 2.7154 years. It is this second full moon in a calendar month, or the fourth full moon to appear within a season, that is referred to as a blue moon.

this whole keeping rvp instead of spending for rooney thing has worked out a treat. naaaaaaaaaaat. in an ideal and annoyingly realistic world rooney could be sitting on -2 and out the next game whilst rvp had a tasty home game with sunderland to come, during which rihanna and megan fox would feed me grapes on my throne in front of a 100 inch hd tv as i watch rvp tuck away a penalty for his hattrick.

a comment above suggests fabregas is out this weekend but there is no proof yet so wait on that one.
but i'm 90% sure the penalty pecking order is:
        rvp > fabregas > nasri > arshavin > bendtner > eboue

wasn't doubting you, just couldn't see a link yet. if he doesnt make barca there could be a tragic unravelling of arsenal's season on our hands. hopefuly chelsea and liverpool do a job on man utd and keep it interesting though. (i'm a neutral for crying out loud before any of the man utd posse gun me down!)

i believe if Everton vs Reading ends in a draw the reply will force the DGW to be cancelled

Could do with some help with my team if it's no too much trouble gents. Currently I'm thinking of Brunt out/Arteta in, then waiting for news on Barton, as i'd probably want to bench Meireles against Man Utd.

    GW29

    Foster
    Djourou Coleman Kolarov Huth
    A.Young Meireles Nani Brunt
    Berbatov Tevez

    FPL site question...

Can I see the Top 50 Leaders for the month of Feb anywhere? I've had a good month, 473rd best out of the 2.4m apparently, but I would like to see how many those above me have accumulated this month so that I watch Berbs, Nani(c) and Smalling tonight knowing what I need them to do to get me nearer the top.

    Cheers

I could not afford Tevez by 0.2 to replace Berbs, so

    A. Simply replace RVP with Tevez now

    B. Wait for outcome of Everton v Reading and replace RVP with either Zigic or Beckford if cup game not a draw?

    C. Replace RVP with Torres
