As promised, we’re squeezing in a second free-to-enter cup competition before end the season ends… The Fantasy Football Scout Cup IV.

This upcoming gameweek (GW29) will be the qualifying round, with the top scorers (minus point hits) progressing to the first round of 512 in GW30. Entry is now open, and will remain so up until a few days before the GW30 deadline (a reminder with be posted). To be clear, you can submit your entry for the competition after the GW29 deadline, but it will be your score from GW29 that will count for qualifying.

Here is all the info you need to know…

What is the Fantasy Football Scout Cup?

The Fantasy Football Scout Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier Leagueโ€™s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager with the highest in the overall standing will progress.

Each gameweek the number of teams will halve, and when the competition reaches the latter stages, Mark and Granville will make live draws on the podcast as we reach our exciting conclusion.

How do I enter?

As with the Members Paddy Power Cup, entry for the competition is simple, just follow this link [ENTRY CLOSED] and fill out the form. A confirmation email will be sent shortly after you’ve submitted your details to acknowledge your entry has been received. Just like the FPL, multiple entries to the Cup are not permitted.

When does it start?

All entries go into the qualifying round, which uses GW29 scores. the deadline to enter will be announced in due course. The first round proper of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup will be Gameweek 30.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published a couple of days before the GW30 deadline.

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each deadline.

Is there a prize?

Fantasy Football Scout is providing the following prizes:

  • Winner – ยฃ150 Amazon Voucher
  • Runner-up – ยฃ75 Amazon Voucher

The Winner will also gain passage to the Fantasy Football Scout Hall of Fame and seal qualification for all free Cup Competitions in forthcoming seasons.

Lampard: I know he has the fix and can he be justified at such a price for meagre returns?

Nasri: Problem with Fabs is that he hasn't really fired yet. He hasn't payed his way. Seems a lot more prone to injury. Thinking you are just as better off with Walcott when fit.

I'm thinking Nasri for Cahill this week.

Looks like those who took hits in 28 are going to get away with it as FPL Towers have gone to sleep. Overall leader played WC.

This is the guy who abuses me on the golf course each week:

He made 3 trannies. Was tracking his score and thought hits were deducted at the end of the gwk.

I have used my WC this week. Here is where I am right now . . .

    Foster
    Baines, Coleman, Djournou
    Nani, Nasri, A Young, Arteta
    Tevez, Rooney, Zigic

    Bench
    Begovic, Huth, Walker, Adam

Also plan to do the following . . .

GW 29 - Arteta to VdV
GW 30 - Baines to Luiz

Does everyone think I am going overboard with Everton and Birmingham?

I have had Huth and Begoic for awhile now so I didnt think about changing up. Good thought.

I brought in Young last week and plan to change him after his game against Wolves at home.

And after getting rid of Van Persie I decided to go cheap 3rd striker and Zigic has 7 games in 5 weeks.

        Thanks for the feedback.

Young has excellent games between gw 30-36. He did well last week and in form at the moment. Hang on to him as long as possible.

Keep an eye on Chelsea fixtures from gw 32. Might want to swap Young on downgrade to Adam so that you can fit Lamos or a chelsea mid into your team.

Bergovic and Sczczczczny are better gk rotaters till the season's end. Djorou for a fit BIR defender preferred. Huth also for possibly a cheap FUL defender or even Luiz if brave.

Coleman yes but Baines is too much.

      Zigic-ouch.

Personally don't see much return from the EVR/BIR dgw.

Remember to plan for the remaining fixtures not just this one gwk.

There will be alot of people who survive the season imo. Thinking of making tougher but fairer penalties for hits starting in GW33 for the DGW.

            My think was

O hit = FPL History Page Top 1M / Safely Score
            1 hit = 800K / Safety Score + 4 whichever is bigger or average of the 2.
            2 hits = 600K / Safety Score + 8
            3 hits = 500K / Safety Score + 12
            4 hits = 350K / Safety Score + 16
            5 hits = 200K / Safety Score + 20

Most of the top 10 haven't been out of the weekly 200K so the rules changes will affect the teams that should already be out more & cut the numbers down alot quicker.

Already taken a 4 point hit to get this team - am i mad to be considering another 8 point hit of
    Cahill & Berba -> Nasri & Saha?

    Foster (Stockdale)
    Coleman, Baines, Kolarov, Djourou (Kelly)
Nani, A Young, VDV, (Cahill), (Adam)
    Tevez, Zigic, Berbatov

If I did the transfers then I'd probably bench VDV (doubtful and playing away), leaving the question...who is likely to score more?

    a) Nasri & Saha (DBL)
    b) Berbatov, VDV & 8 points

Yeah i think if VDV is passed fit that's exactly what i'll do. If he isn't then I'm tempted to also do Berba -> Saha as I see Saha scoring > Berba +4.

Do you think Berba will start much of GW29-33? Either way I still might do Tevez-> Rooney GW30.

I think most of us are in that boat with you, tbh, inalise.

I think Cahill would have been the only dgw player that would have justified getting the armband this week. Even then, though, his form coming into this gw was scratchy at best.

Arteta or Zigic appear to be the only ones now worth gambling on but only if you're chasing a lead or have a big lead already.

FWIW, I think Arteta is going to have a good gw. Zigic probably ends up being a disappointment.

i have an empty bench, 3 confirmed unavailable players.

I have 3 starters Im not excited about, Huth, Simpson and Berbs.

I have cahill and could swap him for arteta or young -4 points.

arteta safer to cover the hit and outscore one of those 3 current starters for the GW.

young may not necessarily make it up this GW but is in form and has great fixtures, a better long term investment.

or play who i have and hope cahill is available GW30, as evertons fixtures are nice as well

    what to do lads?

Same situation as me. My opinion is to just bother about fielding 11. Fine if they include Huth, Berbs, Simpson.
yes, CAhil -> Arteta. Though I am doing Cahil -> Nasri, as I am going for Baines, coleman, Saha trio.
Take hits , it is indeed important to field 11. And if that hit gets you a player with reasonable fixtures, it is gold. Get in Young or Nasri or Arteta.

Lampard will do well. But too expensive. and for that money you can upgrade so many players, and get a balanced team and play the fixtures. Another problem is if Lampard gets injured or does not perform, you will get all the cash waste in the bank instead of invested in the squad
