Manchester United have confirmed that Luis Nani is back in training today.

The Portuguese international is now in line to make a swift return to action after recovering from a gash in his leg following a reckless Jamie Carragher tackle during the defeat to Liverpool over a week ago. Nani is set to be a shock inclusion for the Red Devils against Marseille in the Champions League tomorrow evening and, more importantly in Fantasy terms, he is in the frame to make the Premier League home fixture with Bolton on Saturday.

That looked very unlikely at one point. After reports surfaced at the end of last week that Nani could be out for a month, 119,317 concerned Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Managers transferred the player out of their squads. They will likely be cursing this news of a rapid recovery for a player who has gathered 165 FPL points so far this season. Should he figure and come through tomorrow night’s fixture, Nani will be strongly backed to fetch returns against Bolton at Old Trafford.

In other Man United team news, Darren Fletcher has been struggling with a virus and is out of the Marseille game and it is unclear whether he will return to the fold for the Bolton clash. Michael Carrick has returned after missing the FA Cup encounter with Arsenal with a calf injury. Park Ji-Sung is undergoing fitness work in training but hasn’t made the squad, whilst Owen Hargreaves is continuing his training at Carrington, but not expected to feature any time soon.

Alex Ferguson’s midfield has been a problem area of late and the situation is not helped by the suspension of Paul Scholes. He picked up his tenth booking of the season against Arsenal at the weekend and will miss league games against Bolton and West Ham.

With injuries and match fitness remaining a factor, Ferguson may continue to deploy the Da Silva twins in unfamiliar advanced flanking roles. Priced at 4.4 on the FPL game, Fabio, in particular, has plenty of potential as a cheeky short-term option – the Brazilian has scored twice in recent weeks for United and looked very lively during their FA Cup victory over Arsenal on Saturday. However, Antonio Valencia is also in the squad for Tuesday’s European tie and he could see action against Bolton as a result.

Uncertainty in the United midfield continues then – Fantasy Managers will need to monitor and assess the situation going into the weekend gameweek 30 fixture, with the prospect of short-term differentials on offer.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

am sick of this 'beautiful football' nonsense peddled by Arsenal fans and the usual 'the better team lost' drivel.

Man Utd didn't cheat, they beat Arsenal at football and therefore were better at winning a match, because, I think, football is mainly about winning, not clueless passing. Arsenal seem to have found the perfect excuse for their numerous failures in recent years. It's basically a lot of moaning about other teams daring to try to win instead of playing their 'beautiful football'.

It's the high horse from which they can cry their eyes out about the horrible injustice of football. This has also given rise to the sort of snobbish view that Arsenal HAS to win a title so that JUSTICE is done to their GLORIOUS football. Not if they don't work for it!

What is beautiful football? Is it basically just possession football and nice little passes? Because that's what Arsenal do. And I find it hilarious that they even dare compare themselves to Barcelona. It's like someone of slight build trying to be friends with the big bully at school in order to be able to tell other kids not to be nasty to them when playing together. Barcelona do like ball possession, but they play exciting football rather than plain beautiful football.

Man Utd haven't been at their best this season, but on Saturday they were blistering every time they ploughed forward. Liverpool were very exciting when they thrashed Utd last week! Tottenham have had very exciting football matches this season.

So, do I subscribe to this 'beautiful football' nonsense? No, thanks. I would rather watch exciting football, which can be about possession, passes as well as goals, drama and victories. I would rather my team entertained by making my pulses race and by winning rather than trying to make the most passes possible to get the ball from one flank to the other. The sooner Arsenal ditch this 'great awesome glorious' philosophy of theirs, the better. They have some special players, but they are just arrogant and delusional.

They used to be arrogant AND threatening in the late 90s. Players like Henry and Vieira matched the belief and talent of their big rivals and would regularly pose a threat rather than lose badly and find excuses.

Admittedly, I don't watch too much foorball, but the "above average" players seem to be RVP, Fabregas, Vermaelen, Nasri and maybe now Djourou.

Song, Denilson, Sagna etc do the job, but in my (unqualified) opinion, they could all be replaced by much better.

agree with a lot of joeys points. Its hugley disrespectful to all the other clubs in the premierleague when so called experts talk about Arsenal playing the best football in the league. Blackpool play attractive football and they are in a relegation fight.

and comparing Arsenal to Barca is a joke.

Do Tottenham actually play that great football? Their games, at least in the league, aren't particularly high scoring, yet we are continually told how they play exciting, expansive football.

As far as I'm concerned, they play long ball tactics up to Crouch, and try to hit sides on the break.

Only four sides in the league - Sunderland, Blackburn, Birmingham, Wigan - have scored few goals at home. Fact.

    Coleman, Evra, Baines, Hangeland (C.Clark)
    Nani, Adam, Brunt, Nasri (Ferguson)

    Foster

    Nasri/Young/VDV/nani
    Berba/saha/tevez

Only just posted on the last thread....

What's the best play with my team this week? I think b)

    a) Djourou -> Walker (no hit)
    b) Baines, Arteta & Tevez -> Walker, Lampard & RVP (8 point hit)

    Foster
    Baines, Coleman, Kolarov
    VDV, A Young, Nasri, Nani
    Tevez, Berbatov, Zigic
    Subs: Stockdale, Arteta, Djourou, Kelly

woah man your team's been raped 🙁
Those trades make sense but I don't think you need to do them all now. Why not tevez -> RVP & djourou -> walker this week and play 3-4-3 if zigic is fit with kolarov benched or 4-4-2 if zigic is not fit.
Then next week downgrade baines (or somewhere else) and do the arteta -> fatty for -4 or even for free the week after.
Zigic -> wellbeck next week or week after could free up some cash too for the fatman.

Not sure at all, was the same last year. Ended up just using it to gear up for the final couple of fixtures.

Now might be a good time.

Lampard would be ideal, cant really afford him though.

B or C if you feel you have to.
how long are you thinking of keeping Zigic? I'd be tempted to sell and use some of the 7.2 on a better 3rd striker

yeh zigic is fine for the bench and has a double at some point i think.

hes cheap and not a worry and would be looking to play the 5 mids everyweek for a while.

Would you not rather have RVP than Rooney? I know I certainly would.

I wouldn't do A, because I'd much rather play Walker - who has a great fixture - than take a 4 point hit and then bench him.

Everton have a decent fixture this week, so I'd probably keep Saha (and I'd never recommend that any get Defoe!). So I'd just make the one change, Tevez > Rooney/RVP.

I want both rooney and rvp if i can get them both this is why im considering the 8 point hit. i will do rooney captain this week for definate. villa are in a bit of turmoil of the pit and dont fancy a clean sheet.

Saha from what i have seen has been awful so really fancy 2 points form him.

Why would you rather have rvp over rooney?

RVP takes every set piece, is the focal point of the Arsenal side - Rooney is subject to being moved around, either deep or out on the left, Arsenal have better fixtures and are no longer involved in any other competitions - whereas Rooney may be rested/subbed early in games around the dates of FA Cup and CL games.

Even without all that stuff above, I'd still rather RVP. He's fantasy gold and Rooney really isn't.

think berba will be benching/rotating with hernandez.

maybe get rooney this week and take out silva for a heaper mid for 4 point hit and put rvp in from next week....

fair enough. i go by the odds though

rvp is even money to score so there is a 50/50 chance u make your 4pts back that way, chuck in assists the odds are probably in your favour that you will gte the 4 pts back

the odds on him getting 2 or more are 4/1 so that would indicate its unlikely you will make that much in points from it this week

i can see what your saying and i know itll be nicer having him in your team this week than playing/benching bendtner but likelihood is you wont actually be rewarded this week going by the odds

very tough call. i'd fancy rvp to outscore rooney gw31 and 32 but rooney to be the victor this gw. gw32 could be key as fulham at home is one of the falsest fixtures around imo. it looks promising but they are a seriously hard nut to crack, unlike the blackpool defence where rvp should be that gw beign fed by nasri, walcott and fabs

he does not appeal to me, I think peoples motivation surrounds VDV's reduced output with Jermain "Whack the ball as hard as you can at the keeper and it might go in" Defoe, I don't think Bale is the answer, I think it's either VDV or nothing as Spurs attackers go.

    Djourou, Arteta --> Walker, Nasri
    gw31 Tevez --> RvP
    gw32 Odem --> Welbeck
    and gw 33 Kolarov/Huth --> Luiz.

Look like a decent plan? Was thinking of taking 8 pt hit this week to get RvP in for Tevez but Tev could step up and have a great game... hopefully!

Why not keep Tevez until gw32? He has Sunderland at home in 31. Seems odd to ship him then.

Trying to have good dgw coverage and Man City will have a blank fixture coming up. Was thinking the same as you but pretty sure RvP has an easy home fixture also next week didnt check though? But I could hold that transfer, you're right and maybe do a double transfer the next week!

RVP takes every set piece, is the focal point of the Arsenal side – Rooney is subject to being moved around, either deep or out on the left, Arsenal have better fixtures and are no longer involved in any other competitions – whereas Rooney may be rested/subbed early in games around the dates of FA Cup and CL games.

Even without all that stuff above, I’d still rather RVP. He’s fantasy gold and Rooney really isn’t.

i agree 100%, rooney isn't worth it in my opinion and after all RVP will save you a couple of quid as well!

still would rather have a front line of tevez, RVP, +1

rooney is still off form for me and his touch still looks off colour. yes he can spray a great pass from one side of the pitch to the other, but i still think he is way off his best. i'd rather spend my budget on an all star midfield.

Great, could do with the UCL points. Happy either way, as I'd like Tony V to play.

I'm not that surprised. It's not like a hamstring or a muscle injury, when coming back too soon can aggravate it and you miss another month. The worst that can happen is that the stitches pop, so you just sew him up again.

Shed load of bandages and an old school shin pad (one that actually covers the shin) should do the trick.

    How are these transfer plans?

This week: Bendtner + Tevez out, RVP + Carroll in
Next week: Barton + Baines out, VdV + Luiz in

Why not Barton to VDV this week? Can you not afford it unless you also do the Luiz transfer?
