With the qualification mark set at 43, it’s now time for the 509 qualifiers to join our former winners in the first round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IV. The draw has been made and the full set of fixtures can be viewed right here. [Tip: Use Ctrl+F to find your tie.] Once you’ve learned of your opponent (or if you haven’t got one), read on for a summary of some notable round one ties…
The one to avoid this round was arguably oi keano, the highest-ranked (31st in the world) Fantasy Manager in the competition. The challenge of upsetting the odds goes to 780th in the world Shy Ted. A tough first assignment for our favourite.
Our former Champions join the fray at this stage, having earned the right to bypass qualifying. Which is just as well really, as none of them would’ve done enough in gameweek 29 to make passage.
FFS Cup I winner, but currently languishing 182,085th in the world (too much too young?), donnellyc has a very winnable match-up against EpicFAIL, as he looks to rediscover his Cup-form and resurrect his season.
This time last season, Jonty started his journey in round one of the FFS Cup II with a 74 – 58 win over Sonnky, on his way to the ultimate glory. This time round, sitting 26,392nd overall, he’ll be very confident of notching a win over jacklfc88, a Fantasy Manager ranked outside the top 400k.
Then we have our reigning, defending Champion Gooner dave, who sits at a lofty 135th in the world. Still involved in the Members’ Paddy Power Cup, will juggling the two competitions be his undoing? Lovely_Camel will hope so, as he has the daunting task of stopping the fantasy juggernaut.
There’s not many Scout Contributor’s representing in the first round, but we’ll be doing our best to keep the flag flying. It’s Akers Vs. Sizo, with my opponent easily outranking me with his superb position of 540th in the world. Next up it’s Granville Vs. Bluevikings, as the top 500 in the world Scout gets a favourable tie against an opponent ranked outside the top 100k. Like Granville, Big Dunc will be pleased will his draw against Oscar 12, boasting a far healthier overall rank over his opponent. Pure Olivia is up against it however, as he looks to out-muscle stevebland. Our final representative is Da beeeez, who will no doubt be cheered on around these parts with his match-up with Titus Shambles.
Lastly, a mention for the no. 512 entrant, Ronnay Barkay, who will be hoping to make easier work of Cup progression this week against cameron craigie.
Good luck to everyone in the first round, and I’ll bring you the results a couple of days after the gameweek has concluded.
