As Premier League managers look to patch up their squads, greedily jumping on any niggles to keep their star assets out of the international firing line, the task for Fantasy Managers never lets up. Every morsel of news must be filtered and hovered up in earnest with today’s snippet round-up offering the latest murmurings on the Tevez injury, a fresh tweet from Cesc Fabregas and Wenger’s mission to sharpen up Jens Lehman…

Carlos Tevez is reportedly “in a race against time” to be fit for Man City’s gameweek 31 fixture with Sunderland at Eastlands. According to the latest reports the Argentine has suffered “a 2mm tear an adductor muscle” – an injury that saw him preserved as City took on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. The report suggests that had Tevez played, he risked injury that would have ruled him out for the rest of the season. The loss of Tevez was of course a major blow as Roberto Mancini’s side slipped to a damaging 2-0 defeat.

Mancini will want his skipper back as soon as possible but will surely have one eye on the FA Cup semi-final with United on April 16. His Fantasy owners will now be concerned that, if Tevez carries a risk going into the Sunderland game, he could be kept out of the action again as Mancini looks to keep him fit for a match that will ultimately decide whether City come away with silverware this season.

James Collins will skipper Wales against England on Saturday. That’s significant news for Fantasy Managers because his return to fitness from a calf problem will now surely bolster Villa’s defence as they look to curb an alarming slide into the relegation mire. Most significantly, it boosts the appeal of budget Fantasy option, Kyle Walker. Walker has been outstanding for Villa since his arrival at the club but has had his defensive potential cut by a string of injuries to team-mates. Walker needs the likes of Collins to return in order to up his returns over what remains a favourable run-in for Gerard Houllier’s side.

Collins was recently fined by the club, along with fellow defensive stalwart Richard Dunne, following drinking sessions on a “club bonding trip”. The pair of centre-backs have not played together since last month with Dunne is still recovering from a dislocated shoulder. The Irishman was ruled out for “three-to-four weeks” on March 4 and must therefore also be in with a chance of a return in gameweek 31 when Villa take the trip to Goodison.

Cesc Fabregas has informed the world that he is back in training following his latest hamstring prang. Fabregas spread the news via the medium of twitter yesterday…

“I started running today for the first time so I’m very happy to be back outside.”

It is now reported that the Arsenal skipper could be back in contention for the gameweek 31 clash with Blackburn at the Emirates, a potentially profitable match-up for the Spaniard in Fantasy terms. Arsene Wenger will not want to take any risks with Fabregas however, and may yet protect him for that match, with a gameweek 33 double fixture with Liverpool and Spurs on the horizon.

If fit, Fabregas will surely be on the mind of Fantasy Managers for that double, although with Chelsea and Frank Lampard also experiencing two fixtures in gameweek 33, funds may well be stretched. The majority of Fantasy squads will surely lineup with Lampard and Robin Van Persie for that gameweek, with one of Andrey Arshavin or Samir Nasri also in the midfield.

Jens Lehman could well be in the Arsenal goal for that gameweek 33 double header. The German is widely tipped to be handed a chance following his much-publicised return to the club and Manuel Almunia’s latest caper in the 2-2 draw with West Brom at the weekend.

Aresene Wenger refused to confirm or deny that Lehman was in his plans for the home clash with Blackburn up next, but confirmed that the German stopper was still someway short of the sharpness levels required…

“He (Lehmann) looks like a guy who’s not been involved for a long time but has kept his body fit. He has the basic physical fitness but he lacks a little bit of decision-making and practice in goal…Would I consider starting him? I’m not going to get into that now, we now have two weeks.”

They Daily Mail reports that Wenger is desperate for Lehman to see reserve action to help him get up to speed and join Arsenal’s title tilt. However, Wenger’s reserves do not play again until next Tuesday at Wigan; that may not be enough preparation to see Lehman in the frame for the visit of Blackburn.

Wojciech Szczesny is currently sidelined at least until May with the tendon damage suffered in the Nou Camp so, if Almunia’s woes continue, Lehman could certainly see action – he is available for just 4.5 in the Fantasy Premier League game.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Looks like the decision to sell Carlos last week was a good one then. One of the few decent transfers I've done lately!

True, but it was RVP that I brought in. 9 last week, and Blackburn at home this.

Although RVP could look at a blade of grass awkwardly and injure himself over the next two weeks. But, it seems a good transfer so far.

Right I know this would disadvatage my team but why didnt wenger offer 4-5m for McGregor in January, he is an outstanding goalkeeper and there would be resistance from Rangers due to our financial position. I know Szczsney is a good keep and was fit at the time but he's still young and inexperienced.

Think because where it comes to gk's or centre backs Mr Wenger really does have a "blind spot". Reckon he plays with the fpl tactic of cheap gk and defence to bolster up the midfield/forward line.

I will be happy with Alexander. We need to concentrate on our CB situation. Along with MF, although with the youngsters coming through its looking like a brighter future. Wylde put a great shift in on Sunday, Foster looked relaxed once he settled into the game as well. Weiss is going to be a miss when he goes, they cannot deal with his pace/skill in Scotland.

Also hopefully the tactics on Sunday are what we have to look forward to next season. Ally has some input into the league cup selections/tactics i believe?

I think Ally took control of the squad for the league cup. I agree I hope that a sign of things to come however I think their hand was forced with the injury to Bartley.

Wylde did look good good bit of pace on him. I think we should get Papac on a new deal. get a new CB CMF and AMF, easier said that done though.

Yeah with Bartley being out we had no other option than to attack, would have been 5-4-1 otherwise.

Papac has been solid for us. Bougherra should bring in some money, Weir has to retire. tbh hopefully Diouf doesnt sign permanently. I'm really not a fan.

Ha no abuse, Rangers were the better team on the day, Celtic didnt show up. Now to the league and we both know thats all thats matters its always good winning an old firm final but the league is what matters.

I agree with that, Boumsong was a great bit of business for us. Bougherra gets too much freedom at Rangers in my opinion.

Haha, I think you have more bragging rights over the whole season. Winning the league is what counts...

I thought you would win. Izaguirre being sent was great, he has destroyed us the last couple of games.

I can see someone paying 3 or 4 for him. He gets away with it in Scotland. Always a worry when your centre back goes charging up field thinking hes a world beater. Used to have that in a certain mr caldwell! Im sure one of the old gaffers will do them a turn again tho! lol

Yeah, league is the priority with only the one cl place. I said all along i would sacrifice both the cup games against rangers for the league. Even tho is seems wrong saying so! Will be a close run in, would not be surprised to see your mob win it, always seem to grind out a result regardless of the performance!

League is always the priority every season. It's what most people remember.

We are pretty good at grinding out results, but Celtic are the masters of a late goal in SPL games. Going to be very close. I am just thankful we are still in the running after some of the results we have had.

Granted, coming from South Africa, I only get to watch European games, but everytime I see Papac on the ball I crap myself. Just about every game he gives the ball away in a silly position and we concede a goal or come very close to it. I know we battling for money, but we must a youngster who can do a job for us.

i know this as a couple of seasons ago when i first started playing i stocked up on expensive defenders, didnt work very well! best way to work a defence imo is to have 3 from one team and 3 from another that rotate well then have one expensive one in there. has worked well for me since i started doing it a few weeks back

It's one of those weeks where I have 2 free transfers and I wish that they would roll over to 3. Then, in gameweek 32 I could do this:

    Welbeck in for Saha.
    Luiz in for Baines.
    Lampard in for Meirelies.

But I have to do one/two of them this week, as I only have 2 frees, but I can't afford the Lampard one by itself. So should I get in Welbeck or Luiz this week?

Problem is Young had dissapointed over the last 2 weeks. If he slotted the peno last week and not hit the crossbar this week I would have had a big smile.

Might just shift young. Injury concerns though in rest of my squad.

    A. When will RVP go up in price? I note he has been transferred in heavily this GW?

    B. Should I do my Tevez to RVP transfer now as opposed to 1 or 2 April?

Most transfers occur right at the beginning of the gameweek, and right at the end.

I'd keep an eye out for newbs transferring stuff around this Friday/Saturday, but as long as you can afford to withstand a price rise, I'd wait until the 1/2nd of April.

This time of the season I think price movements are not that important. Ideally you should have built up some decent team value to enable you to absorb the odd price increase.

More important to get a fit player in. So wait untill after int break.

Cricketers, suggested strategies for maximising the 10 transfers?

    Also, essentials for the quarters?

My strategy is to go all or nothing and predict the quarter final winners. I will predict 2 definite quarter final winners and choose 3 players from each of their team. Also the other 2 quarter final winners i predict won't be as definite IMO, but i will still pick 2 players from each of those 2 teams. And then use my last spot to choose a player from the strongest team which i predicted to lose in the quarter finals.

This way, if my predictions are correct, i will have plenty of transfers for the semi and the final.

      Essentials for me are: Sangakarra
      Sehwag
      Afridi
      Yuvraj Singh
      Imran tahir/Peterson

Lads who's the ideal defensive bench fodder? Does Perch sill get a game? I know the first person you see is Foley, but, although it's kinda noobie to just go for the first one, with wolves fixtures he kinda looks like the best option. I'm not keen on Elokobi and I know Stearman's been getting chances lately but my main rival has him.

Perch doesn't play, in fact I read a story yesterday (on an app on my phone so don't have a source) saying that he had been awful and in fact got himself sent off in a reserve game for figting with one of the Man U youngsters. Simpson is a much better option if your looking at NEW. Foley may be as good as any (not sure on his position as he went through a spell of being dropped?) Maybe Higginbotham for a punt? Scored two free kicks recently and Stoke are defending reasonably well?

Talking of unprepared Germans, the managerial merry-go-round in the Bundesliga has just gone bonkers.

First, Schalke 04 sack Felix Magath last week and replace him with Ralf Rangnick (who had resigned from Hoffenheim at Christmas). Then Magath walks straight into the trainer's job at VfL Wolfsburg, which had been held by Pierre Littbarski after Steve McClaren got the shove earlier this year. And Hamburger SV fired Armin Veh and replaced him with Michael Oenning.

Yesterday it emerged that Jupp Heynckes would be leaving Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season, having been offered the Bayern Munich job - although he hasn't agreed to do this yet and no contract negotiations have been held. He'll be replaced at Leverkusen next season by the current SC Freiburg coach Robin Dutt (a good choice, I reckon).

Everyone thought that would be that for a while, but then this morning Eintracht Frankfurt sacked Michael Skibbe and replaced him with Christoph Daum, of all people. Who's going to get the chop tomorrow then?

Trying to take stock at this stage for final run-in, looks like getting in some Che then Sun over next few weeks would be wise.

    Currently:

    Foster (Begovic)
    Luiz, Coleman, RJohnson, Kolarov (Huth)
    Nani, Nasri, VdV, Adam (Young)
    RVP, Saha (if fit), (Zigic)

Mr Kolarov, what am I to do with you?

I could sell you for Mr Luiz as he is rocketing in price. However, then you'll bite me, score, assist and finally keep a clean sheet against an of late woeful Sunderland attack.

On the other hand if I keep you? Mr Mancini will only go and bench you and bring Zabba back after his compassionate leave.

I agree, I have decided to keep for at least one more week, but Luiz and Chelsea should keep a clean sheet at Stoke, I am already looking at Tevez OUT RVP IN when the time comes so to spend 4 on a defender is always ill advised in my view, especially where City are playing at home against as you say a stuttering Sunderland attack, Kolarov was rested previously with Europa, I don't think he will be now, but with Johnson back his place on the wing is under threat so it is a straight fight with Zabba.

Tough one, I am going to gamble that he plays next gameweek anyway.

In my heart of hearts I know what I have to do really. He is a differential for me, I'm 50points behind a rival and I can't see him buying him this week whereas Louise he could quite possibly.

If it wasn't for the Arsenal fixture, I could have gone balls deep and given him the armband too - Especially with Carlito having fitness issues.

God this game is annoying some times! Been waiting for walcott's price to drop to 6.9 as want to bring him in next gw (presuming he's fit) as was 0.1 short. He drops but brunt also drops still leaving me 0.1 short. Grrr!
