As mentioned earlier in the week, the guys at Player Manager have set up a Scout League tournament with £400 in prizes up for grabs.

The League will start this weekend (gameweek 31) and will run until the end of the season. The league placings will be calculated using the best score from all your solo games each gameweek (friends leagues don’t count) and the best 4 of these determines your position on the leaderboard.

Those who wish to enter the Scout League for this tournament can do so by emailing “In” to this address scout@playermanager.com. Make sure you send it from the address you’ll be using at Player Manager. Scores will only count after you send the email.

Want more details? Here’s a full FAQ on the tournament from Player Manager

Q. How much will it cost me to enter?
A. There’s no entry fee for the league tournament but you will need to register at least 4 scores over 4 different gameweeks between now and the end of the season to qualify. That means entering at least 4 Solo Game teams costing 10 credits or £1 each.

Q. Can I enter multiple teams?
A. Absolutely – one of the unique benefits of Player Manager is that, once you’ve designed your master list of players, it’s dead easy to generate multiple teams. So, in the Scout League, you can register as many scores with as many teams as you like over the 8 remaining gameweeks but only the best score from 4 gameweeks will contribute towards your standing.

Q. What happens if 2, 3 or 4 of my highest scoring teams overall are from the same gameweek?
A. Only the best score from each gameweek is used to calculate your score

Q. What if I miss, or have a low-scoring, gameweek?
A. That doesn’t matter – you just have to enter teams in 4 out of the 8 remaining gameweeks in the season.

Q. How long will entry be open?
A. We’re only at gameweek 31 with 8 rounds to go. That means you have until the close of gameweek 35 – 11.30am on Saturday, April 30 – to enter. But entering later gives you less chances at posting a high gameweek score.

Q. Will there be a league table?
A. Yes. You’ll receive a link to the full table in an email from Player Manager once the scores are finalised early next week. We’ll also look to publish standings right here once a couple of gameweeks have passed.

Q. Do you include scores from private (friends) leagues?
A. No – its solo games (which are against random opponents) only.

Q. I’ve signed up. What now?
A. Log in and hit the “manage my player list” button to go to your Player Station. Start putting your player list together based on this week’s fixtures. You can use the “AUTO-FILL” button to get you started with 33 in-form players. Once you’ve listed your players you just need to assign ranks (order of preference in auction) and add a max bid.

Q. What sort of maximum bid should I set for players?
A. The “Avg” column shows you the average price each player went for last gameweek.

Q. Can only one person (i.e. whoever makes the highest bid) own a certain player within each 5, 10 or 15-person league? And can we fill the Player List with as many players as we like?

A. Yes and yes.

Q. What is the difference between these 5, 10 and 15-person leagues and the Scout league?
A. You play your solo games in leagues of 5, 10 or 15 people. The best score from any of these leagues in a gameweek is taken as your score for the Scout league.

Q. Is there a limit to the number of players we can have from any Premier League team?
A. No – its all down to your maximum bid (and remaining salary cap)

Q. Can I bid £100m for one player?
A. Almost. You can bid £90m on one player (there needs to be at least £1m reserved for every place in your team so that you get a squad of 11 players). Having said that, if the next highest bid for that player is £2m, you’ll get him for just £3m (just like eBay with automatic bidding increments of £1m).

Q. How do I pick my formation?
A. You don’t. You’re after the best players – not the best formation. Player Manager will automatically ensure that your team has a valid formation (3-5-2; 3-4-3; 4-5-1; 4-4-2; 4-3-3; 5-3-2; 5-4-1). For example, if you have already bought 3 strikers, you won’t be nominating or bidding for any more strikers.

Q. Can I see the maximum bids of other managers – either before or after the auction?
A. No – but you’ll get to see who every player was bought by, and at what price.

Q. How do I enter again?
A. Email scout@playermanager.com with the subject “In”. Be sure you are signed up to Player Manager using the same email address.

For those who want to know more, there’s a full FAQ about the game here.

    My team

    Foster (Gordon)
R Johnson Coleman Luiz (Walker Huth)
    VdV Nani Nasri Meireles (Adam)
    Rooney Tevez Zigic

I want Lamps or Rvp. What to do?

    Is
    Huth->Stearman
    Meireles->any 5.5 Mid (Hitzlberger, O'Hara Jara)
    Zigic->Rvp
    worth a hit?

You know as well as we do that it is a gamble, 8 points this GW yes, but you will be keeping him in the medium term (til end of season?) so the risk is effectively spread out over all those gameweeks.

Make the hit, although I still suggest dropping Tevez or Rooney

    Evening Peoples,

Would appreciate feedback on my next idea/move:

Vidic and either VDV / Nasri / Nani or Young (my pick at the mo) > DEF + Lampard.

I want to do this move as it should keep me ahead in my mini league. Not sure who the defender should be though. Anyone around 5.3 million - was thinking Elokobi from Wolves to free up money for a later move of Huth > Luiz, or maybe Smalling? Or someone else? Help!

not sure which transfer to do, only got 0.8 in the bank

    a) meireles > downing
    b) tevez > rooney

    or even
tevez > bent which allows me to do meireles > nasri for a hit

OK... I am not drunk yet but am thinking of VDV -> Lamps for a 4 pt hit. My reasons... VDV must be knackered having played for Netherlands twice and I really don't know if Harry needs to start him against Wigan considering Totty's attacking options.

    Madness?

I've got one fit sub (Thomas, West Brom) and Coleman (doubt), VDV (possible doubt), RVP (possible doubt).

Is it worth doing Saha to Welbeck a week earlier than I'd planned, to give me 2 fit subs and make sure I can play 11? Only danger is that Welbeck might get injured.

Looks good. Bardsley for more Sunderland cover after next week? Mignolet to free up funds for e.g. Fabregas?
Rooney is a risky one to me, as Fergie might start rotating him as they go into a period of 2 matches every week.

if i kept tevez and dumped rooney i could upgrade welbeck to carroll. I brought gomes in for the run and my 2nd keeper isnt hurting me at 3.9. im actually trying to free up funds for luiz who i hope to have by gw 33. I may even consider Luiz to be slightly more essential than lamps atm. But im happy w/ rvp and nasri, was all about fabs earlier in the season but hes just too expensive for his results this year.

I'd play Adam over berbatov- I think Fergie's coming round to the idea that berbatov should only be used as an impact sub.

          Hernandez is the future! 😛

But seriously, I think while hernandez is scoring vital goals then berbatov is going to struggle to consistently start.

Even Berbatov's winner against bolton was poorly taken and a bit lucky really.

That's what United fans write, but what I see is Hernandez scoring a bunch of tap-ins and doing nothing more, while Berbatov scores more goals and is better in every aspect except pressuring defenders on the ball.

I looked at a highlight reel of some of hernandez's goals from this season, and his first touch, movement and control are unreal at times.

His goal against Valencia stands out as a good example.

TBH, berbatov's main drawback is that he just doesn't have the attitude of Hernandez to keep positive after missing chances.

All right he has a better attitude. Blah.

I still think Berbatov would have had at least the same number of goals as Hernandez if he had the same amount of minutes lately, I think it's time for SAF to finally release the Berb again. I need it.

I will say one thing for Berba- his backtracking and general energy has greatly improved this season. I think any player who makes such a drastic change to their playing style in order to help out their team has to be applauded.

BTW- seeing as you know a lot about European football history, would you say Cruyff can be arrogant at times?

I want to get RVP in this week. To do it I need to downgrade Tevez, or take a 4 point hit and upgrade Saha and downgrade either Nolan, Nani, Young or Nasri to get the 2 million I need.

    Shoud I:
    A Get rid of Tevez
B Take a 4 point hit (who would you get rid of?)
    C Get someone else.

who in the world to bench and (if possible) your reasoning?

      Bentley without a doubt.

Reasoning: He's the worst player there and Defoe is up against Wigan.

I'm changing my mind every 5mins so thoughts appreciated.

    Young or Nasri?

To complete the 4 man mid of: Nani Lamps Adam ?????

I already have RVP and whoever doesn't make the starting line-up is first sub for Tevez (if he doesn't make it).

    Aaaargh!

Against popular opinion I'd go for Young, but I already have both.

Just asked the Missus who knows nowt about footie and said: "Ashley Young or Samir Nasri?" She said: "Ashley. He was the nice guy in 'Gone With The Wind'. Samir doesn't ring a bell, so I'd go for Ashley."

Don't knock it as she (German) suggested I pick Huth in GW19, just to have a German in the team ... And that boy ain't done bad since.

          Sorted. 😉
