While we sit back and wait to see if Robin Van Persie can reward the faith of thousands of Fantasy Premier League armbands, our Members can start picking the statistical bones out of the games so far. The OPTA data for teams and players has been updated and Members can now use the Gameweek filter to view all the data.

My rudimentary glance reveals that, apart form the obvious glittering display from Wayne Rooney (more on that in the Knee Jerk), our Members should take note of the numbers produced by Antonio Valencia, Matt Etherington, Joey Barton, Leon Osman and Leighton Baines – they could be leading contenders for Fantasy Premier League Bonus with strong attacking contributions. Defensively meanwhile, standout showings include David Wheater, Chris Smalling, Kyle Walker, Phil Jagielka and Roger Johnson.

when you look at how shit utd have been this season (relatively), and how NOONE seems to be able to overhaul them, it pretty much drives home the point that the premier league on the whole has plateaued on the european stage, and is in major decline. While this is great in that we have some close finishes at both ends of the table, for better or for worse, united's ups and downs do show the decline. United were blessed to win that game today- shite defending for the second, and a non peno for the third.

in my never humble opinion, the introduction of video refs, or that ten metre free kick spray etc. could really bring a bit more spark to the game in England. I know this isnt an all-curing panacea, but the Premier league is on the wana and this would only help, drum up world interest etc.

Fact is, the spanish are dominating, and thats a shame- as i dont like the arrogant little gets, and i dont watch spanish football.

To be honest i prefer it the way it is now, its getting more and more even...my point is simply the observation it has weakened alot.

    Having Tevez ,Kolarov and 2nd half of Arsenal to come does help somewhat but when Drogba,Nolan,Rooney gets points and you dont have em you know its gona be work to get a green.

Could be a filthy knee-jerk after today, but if you were to keep just one Utd player, which one would it be?

Rooney or Nani?

If I keep Nani, then I'll be getting Gyan. If I keep Rooney, then I'll be getting a 5.5 midfielder in for Nani. Possibly a glorious return for O'Hara. 😉

  Hmmm toughie. Keep an eye on the potential FA charge for Rooney for starters, he does seem to be in form for the end of the season so he could be solid.
  Biggest problem you have getting shot of Nani though is his high ownership. Totally depends on who your main rivals have I suppose and if you're chasing a big gap. O'Hara was ok today, his set-pieces looked good.
